This month’s 10 on 10 comes from the shores of Pensacola Beach.  What a beautiful day we had last Monday. I am so thankful to be so close to one of the most beautiful beaches in America.

It was a beautiful night on the beach and I had a lot of fun with some of the prom couples.  Just wanted to share a collage from one of the couples.  More to come tomorrow!

So, here it is. Snapshots of my boys and my nephew. Doing what they love to do. Baseball.  This is where we spend several nights a week practicing and once or twice a week for games. I don’t love the game as much as I love to watch these kids play. I really love to see them learn new skills, develop great team sportsmanship, and push their self to be even better than their last game.  Those things are priceless to me. It’s fun. It’s worth it. They are worth it.

To me, being around Seniors is an exciting place to be.  I love their excitement to move on, their adventuresome spirit, their drive to put things in action.  Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting the V. family. Mrs. V wanted to capture some shots of her two children before her oldest goes off to college. I remember this time in my life, when my big brother was going off to college…and I would be an only child!! lol  It’s bitter sweet though, for everyone.  Great times of change, growing, and learning but also changes the family dynamics.

I wish the best for the V family and their new changes that they will experience this fall. I see great things happening for them and I had such a good time with them all. Thank you for trusting me to capture this moment in time for your family. I hope you enjoy this quick sneak peek.

Surprises come in many different shapes and sizes.  This furry surprise came to us on one snowy night in Fort Worth…via his mama. We opened our back door to see the snow falling down and in darted a very friendly mama cat. We felt so bad for her and knew she needed a warm place for the night but we had no idea she was having kittens soon. She had no collar and we tried to find her owner with no luck. I would like to say the kids talked us in to keeping her until she had her kittens but honestly no one had to even try once my husband saw her. He’s an old Marine and can be pretty gruff and tough…but there is one thing that can melt him in to butter.  A kitten.  My kids have even caught on to it now. They will point out ever stray cat they see in our neighborhood. If it’s a kitten with out a home then they know who to go to. Daddy.

Well a few weeks after finding Miss Kitty she had her litter.  In this litter of 5 she had One very cute orange tabby. He was the first to do everything.  First kitten to open his eyes, first kitten to climb away from his bed, first kitten to become playful. We all fell in love with him and of course had to name him Tigger.  THAT was our first mistake, naming him.  Once the kittens were old enough, we found homes for everyone except Tigger.  We just couldn’t let him go. Now he is our beautiful orange tabby and acts like he owns the place.  Since the kids are in school during the day, I find that I use him for target practice a lot.  Ok, not really target practice but I like to shoot him from time to time.  Ok, not really shoot him but take his picture with my Canon. Ok, yeah, you get the point. lol   I love to find him gazing out the window and deep in his thoughts of catching that pesky squirrel in our back yard. He is an easy target because he rarely moves. Just from the sofa to the window sill to the bed.  This month, he is my fine art. I loved the capture that I got of him and the focus in his eyes.  It will be a shot that our family will keep furever.  I hope you enjoy it too.

Each year I like to choose a project or two that will inspire me to be more creative.  Projects like this can be a great way to inspire me to take more pictures of my kids, to take more landscape pictures, or even to try a new style of shooting. Actually the many ways these projects can inspire are endless. A lot of times these projects are work related, but this year I have chosen two projects that are more for ME! A personal project. A project that will cause me to shoot just for me, and no one else. I am so excited to be doing this one although I really think it will be a challenge to do.

The concept of 10 on 10 is for 10 photographers to post 10 pictures on the 10th of each month. The general idea is to take 10 pictures in one day. Sort of like a “Day in the life” type concept.  This is really going to stretch me and cause me to be a little more spontaneous with my camera.  So, everything might not always be real pretty….but I know it will be real.  I hope you enjoy these posts through out the year and if you like mine you can also flip through to see the 9 other wonderful ladies that are joining me from 4 The Love of Focus.  Each photographer will link to the next photographer so you can start by going to see the wonderful Jenn Reno of New Bern, NC Family Photographer.
