Yeah, I’ve heard these rumors for a long time. I’ve seen the stories in the tabloids about me and my skewed vision of how things ought to be. Of course, they never make mention of the fact that it has nothing to do with anyone or anything else… other than me, Jeffrey D Brown. But I do intend (in Ghandiesque fashion) to be the change I want to see happen.

What does that have to do with Tradeshow Blues, you asked? Good question and hopefully by the end of this post the answer will be self-evident… just like in the Declaration of Independence. But let’s face it… I’ve been producing Tradeshow Blues for eleven years. It’s been a good run and great ride. I say great ride because with all the ups and downs over the years, it was the roller coaster ride of a lifetime. And for those of you who can remember the “E-Ticket”… well, it was that.

Anyway… for me now… at the age of 87*… it’s time to focus on fewer things, like cocktails at 5 instead of 7:30… and helping others be successful in achieving a stress-free life… like me. Oh… and of course, there is the book. Now THAT is something to look forward, too.

So what to do with all this stuff I’ve created over the years is on the top of my brain. I’m not sure I know the answers right at the moment, but I do know that the Spirit within me does. And I’m not a religious guy at all, but I am a spiritual being and these answers will emerge as they should and always do.

In the moment, all is wall.

*Geez… that can’t be right… I’m sure it’s only 63. Even that doesn’t seem right. But it is… and all I can say is that it ain’t my granddaddy’s 63.

Over 125 companies have claimed a free wall space on The Tradeshow Wall, which is the only Visual Resource Discovery Platform of its kind. The Third Wall is now be populated, but a few premium spots at the top of the First Wall (homepage) and the Second Wall are still available for rent… and for a brief period, the Tradeshow Wall is doubling the deal… by matching the spaceholder’s rental period at no additional cost.

In other words, rent a space (max 4 blocks) for 3 months and get 6, 6 months and get 12, and so on. There’s no limit on the number of months, but the minimum is 3 months.

Get the Double-Deal HERE.

We’re very happy to announce a major change (call it an upgrade if you will) to our publishing platform… We are now part of TrueMarket Publishing (which in turn, is part of TrueMarket Group) which was, in fact, started by the same guy who created Tradeshow Blues in the first place. But this is different… and better.

TMP is the outgrowth of an evolutionary response to the ever-growing need for more sustainable platforms that can adapt to changing markets, not to mention all of the people who are just simply out of work, under-employed or in the process of reinventing themselves (which we recommend under any circumstance to enhance personal longevity).

We’ll have more to say about all this very soon as we get ready to launch Tradeshow Blues ’13.

Experient recently rewarded outstanding performance by three of its supplier partners with the Supplier of the Year award during the Experient annual conference March 5–9 in Reno, Nevada.

Supplier of the Year awards recognize the best of the best of Experient partners each year and are an opportunity for Experient to honor those suppliers who demonstrate outstanding character and integrity, provide innovative ideas and solutions and maintain high quality customer service.

“These individuals are an incredibly strong and dedicated group of suppliers that add value to our organization by continually delivering exceptional results and superior performance,” said Scott Durkin, Experient vice president, partner development. “They are our partners in the truest sense of the word, and share Experient’s devotion to value and customer satisfaction that enables us to deliver on our commitment of high quality meetings and conferences. We’re proud to have them as part of our team.”

Experient honored Adam Michelin – national account executive, SmartSource Rentals; Michele Oberst – director, national accounts, Hyatt Hotels & Resorts; and Barry Tester – senior manager, conference management, The Venetian® Resort-Hotel-Casino.

Michelin was recognized for his ability to engage all areas of Experient to grow the SmartSource business. He stepped in and supported Experient with every aspect of its strategic events, and simply never says no when called on to assist. He is an outstanding Experient advocate, and continues to look for new ways for both organizations to partner and drive new business together.

Tester has worked some of Experient’s largest events held at The Venetian since 2006 and has been instrumental in supporting one of Experient’s top clients. His customer service and forward thinking are outstanding, even when challenged with some of the most difficult events. Tester’s award was accepted by Chandra Allison, vice president sales for The Venetian/The Palazzo Meetings.

Oberst was selected by Experient nominators for her drive and determination in thinking “outside the box” and for her ability to remain engaged with the account even after its close.

The new Tradeshow Wall is approaching 100 Wall spaceholders after only about three months of operation. The Wall is now referred to as The Visual Resource Discovery Platform for Tradeshow Enthusiasts. Qualified tradeshow and event-related companies can still get a free, permanent Wall space while additional permanent spaces (separate or contiguous) are available for a small, one-time cost.

With the Second Wall filling up fast (only 8 spaces remained as of this writing), more interest has been expressed in the premium “rental spaces” that have recently been made available at the top of each Wall.
Rob Cohen, VP of DS&L said “the addition of Mike to our account management team is a big plus… Mike’s 10 years of service to the display industries places another industry insider on the DS&L team who understands the demands and needs of our customers.”

Tradeshow Blues is celebrating its 10th Year Anniversary and we’re looking for a few good writers who aren’t afraid to stick their neck out (scarfs OK in cold weather) and offer their view of the tradeshow and event business from… as we like to say… a slightly different perspective.

TSB, since late in the early days, has primarily been the voice (metaphorically speaking) of its creator, Jeffrey D Brown. Fortunately, he’s not the only one who thinks there’s a more interesting side of the business that, at best, has been under-reported… if at all. And we’d like to tap into that vast common mindset and invite others to participate on Tradeshow Blues.
