The camping community in Massachusetts is reaching out to help Les and Meg Twarowski rebuild their Village Green Family Campground that was decimated by a tornado on June 1.

Located in Brimfield, Mass., east of Springfield, the campground suffered a direct hit that day: one camper was killed and 95 of the 97 RVs parked at the campground were destroyed. Many of the trees on the site were split in two or otherwise destroyed.

Recently, members of the Massachusetts Association of Campground Owners (MACO) board and some park owners visited... Read More

Gas Prices May Have Reached Peak

Summer driving season usually means gasoline prices are set to climb, but the beginning of this summer season could mark the start of a significant drop in prices at the pump.
CNBC reported that gasoline hit $3.98 a gallon for the national average in mid-May and by Wednesday, it had dropped to $3.81, according to AAA.
“I think there are several trends pointing to $3.50 as the national price between now and July 4th,” Gulf Oil CEO Joe Petrowski said Wednesday on CNBC. Less demand is one factor. “Even at current prices, demand is down four to... Read More

Owning an oversized vehicle in Burbank, Calif., just got a lot harder. According to a report by the Burbank Leader, the City Council this week adopted a plan that would force drivers of non-commercial vehicles longer than 22 feet or taller than 8 feet — which would include most recreational vehicles, trucks with campers or trailers, even raised pickups — to get a daily $5 permit for parking on residential streets or face a $55 citation.

Even those who have a permit will also be prohibited from parking within 80 feet of any... Read More

“All in all, we exceeded expectations,” said Thompson, who handled the commercial exhibits. “These guys (exhibitors) came to Louisville hoping to have a good show.
‘7 Wonders of the RV World’ Named by Excel

Roadside attractions are hardly recognized at the worldwide level.
Planning, compliance and design efforts are underway on a project to restore electrical service to all the RV sites in the Fishing Bridge RV Park, the only campground currently offering water and sewer at Yellowstone National Park. The RV hookups could be back as soon as this fall after Xanterra and the National Park Service came to an agreement over upgrades to an out-dated electrical system; some upgrades could be done later this year, with the rest completed for 2012.
