Thinking about youngsters nowadays and their fortune, you might not relate to someone in his late 20s, but if you think of someone that made a fortune in relation to EDM (Electronic Dance Music) – mostly Trance – and EMI (Electronic Music Industry) spectrum, ladies and gentleman, yes, I am thinking of Will Holland, the Enhanced Music’s owner. I can easily say that his label and music website competes with all major ones out there. With his dedication, hard work and commitment in particular- as he describes it in the interview – Will Holland created a musical imperium that can last for so long.

Having several exclusive interviews with him in the past, including this one, I can easily sense a level of professionalism merged with some of his own personality that shaped the man nowadays. It is no surprise for music minded people to realise that someone like him can do such a lot of things, since he is always driven by his all-time dedication to music. In this interview you are going to learn that Will Holland it’s here to stay for the long-run and I am pleased to see that dance music has someone like him in charge

1. Right now you have a new album compilation in stores called Digitally Enhanced, the 5th instalment already. With this album you have essentially brought together once more, some of Enhanced Music most prolific producers and, in a sense, paying tribute, to the vibe and energy that defined the label through the year. Please share some of the things that makes this compilation one of the most wanted albums of the year.

Will Holland: I think it’s about the artists on the release and the fact just about every track has never been heard before – it’s a principal we started with and have continued. We’re lucky to have some great artists at Enhanced and so many people are always dying to hear what they have coming up next, plus our hardcore fans are pretty fanatical indeed, and each year the hype seems to increase! Perhaps they like the mixes too?

2. So, with regard to the balance of themes you are touching on; to what degree would you say this album strikes a more Trancy tone as opposed to using certain elements of the past albums to describe, or perhaps, more vividly actualise, the present ?

Will Holland: Digitally Enhanced has always been about reflecting the Enhanced sound as a whole, across our labels, and I like the album to progress and build through the styles, so as usual it starts with the Progressive stuff and builds to the peak time Trance on the second disc. I think overall the sound is a bit more ‘clubby’ than the last edition, but that’s just reflective of what we’ve been doing on Enhanced over the last year.

3. In our previous interviews, I well remember that you mentioned how careful you were in selecting all of the artists that appear on Digitally Enhanced. From your own personal standpoint, as you went through the process of putting this album together, what were again some of the most important criteria that you employed in choosing the producers that actually contributed to this project ?

Will Holland: Yeah I want to try and include as many artists as possible; unfortunately it’s impossible given the time constraints on the CD and from a professional and personal view the mixes have to work and flow, so sometimes tracks however great they are just don’t make the cut. I had about 60 tracks that ended up at the 29 you have on the release!

4. If we look at the situation over the last few years especially, there have been some significant changes that have taken place. Especially with Enhanced. More and more producers are heading themselves into this world of EDM (Electronic Dance Music) scene. Which is a good thing by the way, but why is this happening ? What’s your take on this Will ?

Will Holland: I think a lot of Trance producers just became a little tired of the same sound and wanted to try something new, and at the same time other genre producers such as House have been taking influence from Trance as well as other genres and so on. It’s good because it’s opening up our music to people that have never heard it before and keeping things fresh from a musical point of view. Especially in countries like the USA you now have events where you have artists from all genres playing on the same stage – dance music is dance music, and if it’s good they’re into it. As long as artists produce for themselves and don’t try to chase a sound, and we as labels continue to release good music then I see no issue with it.

5. To date, you have released five albums of Digitally Enhanced. As an artist and label owner, how have you managed to stay so active and get your music out there for the fans ?

Will Holland: Haha, well to be honest my production has cut back because I spend so much time on the label, but I therefore try to make sure the tracks I do release are quality every time. It’s just about time management, and working farrrrrr to much, but when you love what you do it isn’t so bad!

6. Enhanced is home to many Trance legends and upcoming ones too. In your view, what does it take to reach that kind of acclaim ?

Will Holland: Talent, hard work and dedication. Working with people across the years you can see who has it and who doesn’t. Tritonal for example – they’re just nonstop; improving and developing their sound, making huge records, touring nonstop and developing their profile. They’re absolutely dedicated to being the best they can be and they absolutely deserve their success and that success has come about through all the work they have put into it.

7. Being the CEO of your own label as well as a producer and an artist, you obviously have a lot invested in the EDM scene, especially Trance; do you sometimes worry about what the future holds ?

Will Holland: I think Trance is in a very strong position at the moment, the scene is thriving in my opinion and a lot of the music being created at the moment is incredibly fresh. From a label standpoint piracy and sales are my concern.

8. If you were to collaborate someday with an artist from outside EDM spectrum, who would you like it to be ?

Will Holland: I would love to work with someone like Near The Parenthesis or Ulrich Schnauss; they’re incredibly talented and I love listening to music by them / artists like them, it soothes the soul.

9. Over the last three years you have continued to build your buzz by performing all over the globe as well as constantly releasing new music through your label; are you happy with your accomplishments thus far ?

Will Holland: Yeah I’m very happy with how things are going at the moment, personally and from a label standpoint, although I want to keep pushing things forward with Enhanced and see where we can get to.

10. As far as future projects, what do you currently have in the works ?

Will Holland: My next release is with Jeza, it’s the follow up to last years ‘Start Again’ and has a great remix by Beat Service. It’s out in a couple of weeks and the reactions so far have been amazing! It’s the opening track on CD One of Digitally Enhanced so check it out on there!

Governors Beach Club
Governors Island, NYC

Made Event is proud to announce DJ Mag Top 10 artist Dash Berlin at Governors Beach Club on Governors Island, NYC, Saturday, June 30, 2012.

Dash Berlin is the creator of the “Dash Berlin Sound” — an ambitious and unprecedented new sound of trance that is futuristic and scintillating, moving and emotive. It caught the ear of none other than Armin van Buuren in 2007, who featured Dash Berlin’s debut track “Till The Sky Falls down” on his legendary ‘Universal Religion’ album. In 2009, Dash Berlin released his critically acclaimed debut album, ‘The New Daylight,’ which features instant classics such as “Till The Sky Falls Down,” “Man On The Run,” “Waiting” and “Never Cry Again.” And last month saw the release of his second artist album, ‘#musicislife,’ featuring “Better Half of Me” (feat. Jonathan Mendelsohn), which earned a 2012 International Dance Music Award nomination for Best Trance Track. From the hottest nightclubs to the biggest festivals, this ‘Flying Dutchman’ connects with his audiences in a magical way that has spawned a worldwide following and earned him the #8 spot in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs poll. Now he comes to Governors Island to keep revelers dancing all day in the summer sun. After all, the message of Dash Berlin is simple: “It’s all about having a good time again,” he says. “The art of celebrating life resonates inside of everyone.”

Sullivan Room & Endless Event Present Menno de Jong

Sullivan Room New York

Saturday May 12th, 2012

Line up: Menno de Jong, Rory James, Ali Mahmud & DJ Metro

Buy tickets here

Falling in love with music at a very young age laid a firm foundation for Menno’s future in the music business. He bought his first trance oriented albums around the age of 8, and at the time was already well on his way in playing musical instruments, as he often hammered away on his father’s synthesizer and guitar. A few years after, at the age of 10, he began training in classical piano… but changed to modern music with various influences not much later.

Playing music to other people is something that ment a lot to Menno in his younger days already. This eventuelly led to him appearing behind the dj desk at his own, and other people’s parties. After spinning at a school party at club Downunder in Eindhoven, where he lived at the time, he was asked by the manager to become resident Dj on Thursdays and Sundays, where he spun on and off the following 2 years.

In the meantime he discovered that making music was not limited by what he could play on a keyboard. The legendary fasttracker program opened up a whole new perspective to his musical ambitions, his rather diverse taste in music (ranging from classical to dance) was now proving essential in the sounds he was experimenting with. After several years of on and off experimenting with the sample based programme, he found a more challenging medium called Propellerheads Rebirth. After toying with that for a while he discovered a production tool offered by the same company called Reason. This programme took his creative inspiration to the limit, and after about a year of practice, the track Million-fold was produced, which received a tremendous amount of positive feedback from all who heard it.

DJing also took more serious turns. After organizing some underground trance parties in the area, Menno finally started to play at some bigger events, captivating audiences with his beautiful progressive, trance and tech’trance sounds… leaving no one unimpressed by his awesome dj performances. This resulted in bookings alongside some of the biggest names (Don Diablo, Ton TB, Erick E, Six4Eight, Jav D and others), in some of the most incredible venues all over the world (Dream Nightclub, Washington DC (USA); Home Nightclub, Washington DC (USA), Club O>> in Arnhem (NL), Club 1223, Washington DC (USA), etc. etc.)
Producing wise he certainly did not sit still in the time passing, intensively expanding his studio setup and learning to master the new gear and tools acquired. Eventually he produced the track called Guanxi, which was signed to Anjunabeats several months later, to be remixed by top trance producer Super8. Not long after the signing of that track, Millionfold was signed to Gesture Music, with a remix in the making by Markus Schulz.

No, you’re not hallucinating: Tritonal are indeed releasing yet another Club Mix from the album with staying power, Piercing The Quiet. On May 21 the ‘Everafter’ (Tritonal Club Mix), which features the vocals of who some may consider the third member of Tritonal, Cristina Soto, will be released exclusively on Beatport, with a worldwide release date of June 4.

‘Everafter’ has become a staple in Tritonal’s crowd-pleasing sets around the world this past month, which included stops in Australia for the Creamfields tour, Pacha NYC, and Taiwan. Upcoming tour dates include Electric Daisy Carnival in New York and Las Vegas and stops in Houston, Calgary and Belgium for Tomorrowland. Check out their full schedule on Facebook.

Preview the track on YouTube and be on the look out for the much-anticipated Piercing The Quiet – The Remixes album, dropping this summer!

About Tritonal

After only several years of united production, progressive trance duo Tritonal has gone from unknown newcomers to one of the top names in the international electronic dance music scene. Currently standing at #83 on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs List, Tritonal continues to launch track after track up the Beatport charts and into the sets of some of the most renowned and respected DJs in the world. Their debut artist album “Piercing the Quiet” produced seven top 20 Beatport singles, including five that held the #1 position on the trance chart.

Such a rapid ascent into the forefront of an ever-changing dance music scene might intimidate even the most seasoned musicians, but the duo who “complete each other’s musical sentences” have captured the hearts and ears of fans and DJs alike. Chad Cisneros and Dave Reed formed this dynamic musical partnership from opposite ends of the United States after meeting online in a sound production forum. Within a year of collaboration, their first smash hit ‘Piercing Quiet’ was voted best track by listeners of Armin van Buuren’s A State of Trance radio show and the pair was on the fast track to becoming one of the U.S.’s—and the world’s—most exciting and innovative acts to watch.

In 2011, Tritonal stood out on the festival circuit, winning over legions of EDM fans at massive gatherings such as Electric Daisy Carnival, Escape From Wonderland, Ultra Music Festival and Nocturnal. They also managed to find time to launch their own record label, Air Up There Recordings, provide a guest mix for Trance Around the World with Above & Beyond, become the resident DJs on Sirius XM’s Electric Area, and syndicate their popular Air Up There radio show throughout five continents.

2012 has continued at the same pace, as the pair have traveled to cities all over the U.S. India, Australia for the legendary Creamfields tour, and ASOT550 in Den Bosch and Miami.

With a fan base of dedicated Tritonians expanding rapidly around the world and a truly memorable, vivacious stage presence which must be seen to be believed, Tritonal continues to shower music lovers with their uplifting, original material and electrifying remixes of some of the best dance music today.
