Or is it Gladiator Hood? Director Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe reunite for this retelling of the classic English folk hero in Robin Hood (really, how long did it take you to come up with that title?). Cate Blanchett, Mark Strong, William Hurt, Matthew MacFadyen, and Danny Huston also star. Scott and Crowe seem poised to unleash hell once again upon the movie-going audience on May 14, 2010.

In Saint John of Las Vegas Steve Buscemi stars as a gambler fleeing Las Vegas for a new life as a fraud inspector for an insurance company in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Romany Malco, Sarah Silverman, Peter Dinklage, Tim Blake Nelson, John Cho, and Emmanuelle Chriqui also star. The film, directed and adapted for the screen by Hue Rhodes (from a story by Dante Alighieri), is set to hit theaters Jan. 29, 2010.

Golden Globes nominations – snubs abound!

Now that the NY and LA Film Critics have anointed “The Hurt Locker” the best film of 2009, along comes the Golden Globe nominations. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association gave a lot of love to the George Clooney-led “Up in the Air” (review on Friday) and the musical “Nine.” Typical. They also gave some props to “The Hurt Locker” and “Inglourious Basterds,” though, so this year’s nominations are not a complete wash.

Anyway, here is a complete list of all the nominees and my analysis of who was snubbed. Fans of “Where the Wild Things Are,” be prepared to be disappointed.

Okay, there are many reasons to share this video for “Walking on a Line” including a nice low-key tune, the clever use of cardboard cut-outs, an undeniably cute leading lady, some impressive effects and transitions, and an story told well which I’d like to see more of (how often do you say that about a video!). The song comes from the first album of French powerpop/electro/rock band Pony Pony Run Run.

Hero of Time is a feature-length Legend of Zelda fan-film. While I salute the passion in such and undertaking, and admit to loving me some classic Zelda, you’ll have to be much more dedicated than I to make it all the way through the 108-minute running time. Or you could just go back to watching your DVR’d season of that similar fan-series Legend of the Seeker instead. (What, that one is done “professionally”? Huh, who knew?)

So I braved the cold wintery conditions last night to check out director Rob Marshall’s new theatrical version of Nine (based on the play of the same name). Though I couldn’t find the clip I originally wanted to share, here’s the lovely Marion Cotillard (looking not unlike Audrey Hepburn) with “My Husband Makes Movies.”

The film features a talented cast including Daniel Day-Lewis, Judi Dench, Nicole Kidman, Penélope Cruz, Cotillard, Sophia Loren, Kate Hudson, and Fergie. Nine opens in select cities on Friday before hitting theaters everywhere on Christmas Day.
