I don’t remember much about my Amsterdam visit, I blame the ‘space cake’ and the random things I inhaled while we went to this coffee shop ;), oh well, it had to be crossed off the list 🙂 Anyways, this was our city no.2 after Rotterdam as part of our Europe road trip in 2013 (Rotterdam- Amsterdam- Brussels–Bruges) and we spent one night here. It was a great crew and lots of memories to cherish :). I honestly don’t remember much about specific sites in the city as it was a while go but I remember beautiful canals, a lot of walking and of course a lot of giggling!! Ever since I read the diary of Anne Frank, I wanted to see her house in Amsterdam. I also wish to see the Tulips when its in full bloom and the beautiful villages outside Amsterdam, so I am hoping to visit the city again sometime in the coming years… The few things we have done are: tried the famous herring from a herring cart, visited local shops and markets, been to a coffee shop, seen the Infamous street, tasted few beers and Gelato, enjoyed the beautiful canal side walks (we did the canal ride […]

Address: Beer, Seaton EX12 3BZ Beer beach in Seaton is a beautiful little cove with very scenic coastal path walks on either side. This little pebble beach is a real old English beach seemed very quiet at the time we visited, not sure if it is known to many people but there is a lot of interesting things you can do on a nice summer day here. Check below to see if you are interested 🙂 Beer Beach Entrance and parking: Parking near Beach No entry fee. There is a small car park called ‘Fore Street short stay car park’ quite close to the beach but it can get really busy, it was £1 per hour and there is an option to pay through the phone if you don’t have coins. Use Parkmobile App in your smartphone and quote the place code 2960. You can only park here for 3hours maximum though, it’s not ideal if you are planning to spend some time at the beach and also walking along the coastal path. Beer cliff top car park This car park is at the top of the cliff. You can park all day for £4 pounds and there is an […]

Accessible either via the seafront or few minutes walk away to the east side of Canoe Lake will take you to the back entrance of the garden. Opening times: Open till dusk during summer. It is a lovely place for a stroll close to the Southsea beach. Apparently there are 40 varieties of roses in here but please visit the place in June or July when the roses are in full bloom. Even if it is close to the seafront and busy road, it is guarded by the walls hence protected from all the wind and noise coming from the seafront. It is really quiet and peaceful and there are plenty of seats available where you can either sit back and enjoy the roses or read a book. There are pathways among the rose beds so you can walk around and enjoy each section of colours and scent of the roses. If the sun is shining, capture some amazing pictures too! Interested in walking down the Promenade afterwards? You might also want to visit Portsmouth Naval […]

Anybody visiting Chichester Cathedral shouldn’t miss this beautiful green haven hidden away in the corner! This is a very traditional English cottage style garden which is difficult to find these days. Its simply beautiful! There are plenty of seats among the flower beds and the green patches to sit and enjoy the singing of birds, reading a book or just having some quiet time away from all the buzzing of life! At the time we visited, the flowers were only started to bloom, so I can imagine it will look really colourful in Summer! Address to the Cathedral: West street, PO19 1RP, Chichester, West Sussex. I parked in West street which was quite close to the cathedral. We visited the cathedral on a Sunday evening, it was fairly quiet hence no trouble finding a parking space. I suppose the city can get really busy during peak times and you might have to park in various short stay car parks few streets down the cathedral. This post is mainly about the ‘City Walls Walk’ and the ‘Bishops Palace Garden’ just around the corner of the cathedral. Entry: Entry to the garden is free Opening times: Bishops Palace Gardens –Everyday 8am-dusk City […]

It was dismantled from Egypt and rebuilt in Madrid in 1968. Address: Templo de Debod, Paseo del Pintor Rosales, 28008 Madrid. Plaza de España or Ventura Rodríguez are the closest subway stations reachable via either Line 3 or Line 10.
This beautiful little fishing town of Cornwall is one of the best loved locations and is a must see! Address: Wharf Rd, Saint Ives, TR26 1LP. The above address is the closest road to the St Ives Harbour Beach. We have driven through this narrow and very crowded Wharf road and parked in the Smeatons Pier car park which took ages to get to and it was impossible to turn back midway! It is the closest car park next to the St Ives Harbour beach but I would recommend to park a bit further away from the middle of the town. There is a car park we found later which is only four minutes walk from the town with plenty of spaces and away from all the hustle and bustle. The address is :Park Avenue Car Park, Saint Ives, TR26 1QE. Things to do in St Ives Town Cornwall Remember the fact that we were only here for about 4 hours while on a road trip hence this list is for the main part of St Ives town and Harbour beach only.
Address: Waggoners Wells, Grayshott, Hindhead, Hampshire, GU26 6DT. No parking and entrance fee! Waggoners/Wakeners Wells consists of three man-made ponds believed to be created in the 17th century for industrial purposes (archaeological evidence for ironmaking has been found in surrounding areas) . It is now overgrown with ancient beech trees offering a peaceful sanctuary with spectacular colour shows in spring and autumn. I have visited the place in the early and late autumn of 2017 and looking forward to go back in the next spring :). Waggoners Wells is acquired by the National Trust as a memorial to Sir Robert Hunter, one of the founders of the Trust and his memorial stone can be found on the side of the lake. Highlights of the place It is perfect for photoshoots Good place for dog walking, for an evening stroll etc but watch kids at all times since the lakes are deep and water is very cold. I would suggest to wear wellington as it is very muddy. Dont forget to make a wish at the Wishing Well ,mine has come true!!! fishing is allowed bird watching-kingfisher, mallard and grey wagtail may be seen.
The Devils Punch Bowl is a large hollow of dry sandy health surrounded by the 894 feet Gibbet Hill, the second highest hill in Surrey. You might be wondering how this ‘amphitheatre’ shaped landscape got such an interesting name! The story goes like this: the Devil angered the God Thor by his mischievous actions by jumping back and forth, therefore to punish him Thor scooped up a huge handful of earth and threw this at the Devil, leaving the shape in the middle which looks like a Bowl. In reality, the Punch Bowl was formed due to a geological process called ‘spring sapping’. Its something to do with erosion, layer of clay and water pressure ( sorry, not much of an idea, read more if interested). Apparently Devils Punch Bowl is the largest spring sapped valley in Britain! I must admit, we have visited here early April, so the land still looks a bit dry and lifeless in the photos as it was just recovering from the cold days. It would have been a lot greener and pleasant if it was later time of the year. Address: London Road, Hindhead, Surrey, GU26 6AB. By train: Haslemere station is 3 miles away.
The advantages of staying in a hotel or apartment with a little kitchen attached : You can have a fresh cup of tea/ coffee in the morning or after a long day of adventures when you come back to the hotel for an afternoon nap, who doesn’t want a nice cupa with a small sweet bite. Remember that some countries don’t have a good old kettle so you have to boil the water in the old way but I bet the tea taste much better 🙂 Just like when I am at homes and use the slicer from getmandolineslicers.com to make great dishes and not eat outside food, staying in a place which has a small kicthen while travelling allows me to save some money on the budget for food either by cooking breakfast or dinner. From the site about kitchen knives, I also found a great set of knives from which I carry some while I travel to cut to my easy meal. Try some fresh, local produce (fresh seafood or meet) cooked in your own style in the comfort of your own bed with your feet up and watching a bit of television. This could take it to a […]
