A rare U.S.-based all-inclusive resort that delivers an easy, passport-free escape for families and couples alike.

Sometimes the best getaways are the ones you don’t overthink.

What started as a quick overnight escape turned into a genuinely pleasant surprise at voco Sandpiper All-Inclusive Resort. Tucked along Florida’s coast and still in its early phases, this newly opened resort offers a fresh take on the all-inclusive experience… one that’s easy, relaxed, and family-friendly without feeling overwhelming. And perhaps one of its biggest draws? It’s one of the few all-inclusive resorts in the United States, meaning no passport required and no need to hop on a plane (unless you want to). We checked in curious, and left already talking about when we might return.

Arrival & First Impressions

Getting to voco Sandpiper All-Inclusive Resort was refreshingly simple. Just a quick turn off the highway, a drive through a quiet residential area, and suddenly…vacation mode.

The gated entrance set the tone immediately. A friendly guard welcomed us with genuine warmth and directed us to the portico for unloading. While valet service isn’t currently available, parking is easy and convenient.

At check-in, we were given a resort map and a daily activities schedule… always a small but meaningful touch that helps guests settle in quickly. Even with a temporary lobby in place during this phase of construction, everything felt polished, organized, and very much “resort ready.”

First impression? Warm, easy, and unmistakably vacation-forward.

Property Overview

Set across 150 acres (with 50 currently in use as the resort), voco Sandpiper is very much a resort in evolution, having opened in January 2026.

Everything feels fresh, because it is. Newly planted tropical landscaping, clean lines, bright paint, and thoughtfully designed pathways create a lively yet relaxed environment.

One thing that stood out: space.
Even with a full house, the layout allows for both energy and escape. You’ll find lively pool scenes alongside quieter pockets perfect for unwinding.

The overall vibe leans:

Family-friendly

Casual and social

Relaxed, not overly polished

And importantly…it already works, even in its early phase.

Rooms & Accommodations

Room options are intentionally simple:

King room (sleeps up to 4)

Two-bedroom suite (sleeps up to 6)

We stayed in a King water view room, and it delivered exactly what you want from a coastal getaway: light-filled, comfortable, and functional.

Highlights:

Private balcony with water views

Daybeds + table seating (great for families)

Mini fridge + Keurig-style coffee maker

Large closet (ideal for beach gear and swimsuits)

Everything, from mattresses to finishes, felt brand new. The bathroom was spotless, with strong water pressure and reliable hot water (always worth noting).

Good to know:
You may hear faint live music in the evening depending on room location, but it adds to the ambiance more than it disrupts.

Dining & Drinks

As an all-inclusive resort, meals and beverages are included. But currently, dining is still in its early phase.

Right now:

Riverside Market (buffet) for breakfast, lunch, and dinner

Coffee bar for specialty drinks

Main bar serving burgers and casual bites at set times

Poolside bars during prime swim hours

The buffet setup will feel familiar to cruise travelers (hello, Lido deck vibes), and it’s dependable and convenient.

Looking ahead:
Three additional restaurants and more poolside dining options are expected in upcoming phases, which will significantly elevate the culinary experience.

Pools, Beach & Activities

The pool scene is where this resort really comes alive.

Current offerings:

Family pool

Adults-only infinity pool

Poolside bars

Towels provided

We opted for the adults-only pool, which was lively but still enjoyable. Even at capacity (with a mix of overnight guests and ResortPass day visitors), we were able to find chairs and an umbrella.

Other highlights:

Non-motorized water sports included

Motorized options available for an extra fee

Small beach area (best for relaxing, not swimming)

Splash pad coming soon for younger guests

There’s a strong emphasis here on active, memory-making travel, especially for families.

Experience & Atmosphere

Even in just one night, the experience felt complete.

Our favorite moment?
Sitting in Adirondack chairs in the sand at sunset…watching families stroll by, listening to laughter carried on the breeze.

Later, we wandered over to the live music area, soaking in the easygoing energy before heading back to our room.

It’s the kind of place that doesn’t try too hard, and that’s exactly why it works.

Final Thoughts: Is voco Sandpiper Worth It?

For a resort still in its early phases, voco Sandpiper is already delivering a strong value for a Florida all-inclusive experience.

What we loved:

Easy, welcoming arrival

Fresh, clean, newly opened feel

Family-friendly without feeling chaotic

Adults-only pool option

Included activities and watersports

Convenience of included meals and cocktails

What to keep in mind:

Dining options are currently limited (for now)

Some construction/expansion is ongoing

Popular areas (like the pool) can get busy

Bottom line:
This is a resort to enjoy now—and to watch as it evolves. I’ll absolutely be returning once future phases are complete.

Don’t Miss This Tip

Grab a drink and head to the Adirondack chairs at sunset. It’s one of the simplest (and most memorable) experiences on property.

voco Sandpiper All-Inclusive Resort Beachside Sunset

Every now and then, something happens on a cruise that feels truly special…the kind of moment travelers will talk about long after the voyage ends.

That’s exactly what happened recently in Sydney, Australia, when two of Holland America Line’s 2026 Grand Voyages crossed paths in port and guests celebrated the occasion with something that instantly caught my attention: a Chocolate Afternoon Tea curated by Jacques Torres.

Yes – that Jacques Torres. The legendary chocolatier.

As someone who enjoys sailing with Holland America Line and has a soft spot for truly good chocolate, this sounded like one of those magical cruise moments that perfectly blends travel, culinary artistry, and a sense of community at sea.

A Rare Grand Voyage Reunion in Sydney

On March 7, 2026, Holland America Line brought together guests from two of its longest itineraries, the Zaandam and Volendam, while both ships were docked in Sydney.

Grand Voyages are special in the cruise world. These extended itineraries can last three to four months, taking travelers across continents and oceans. Guests often form close friendships along the way, and the shared experience creates a unique onboard community.

This rare port overlap offered the perfect opportunity to bring those communities together.

The celebration took place aboard Zaandam, where guests from both ships gathered for an elegant Chocolate Afternoon Tea designed especially for the occasion.

Chocolate Afternoon Tea with Jacques Torres

Leading the experience was Holland America Line Culinary Ambassador Jacques Torres, who curated a menu filled with indulgent chocolate creations.

Guests enjoyed a traditional afternoon tea service featuring:

Fresh scones

Classic finger sandwiches

Chocolate madeleines

Chocolate canelé de Bordeaux

Le Lion chocolate-dipped marshmallows

Gâteau de Voyage

Everything was paired with Holland America Line’s Royal Dutch Tea Time Blend, creating an elegant afternoon that felt equal parts European café culture and luxury cruise experience.

For chocolate lovers, this kind of curated tasting is a dream. Torres is known worldwide for his dedication to high-quality chocolate craftsmanship, and having him design a menu specifically for Grand Voyage guests made the experience even more memorable.

A Celebration of the Grand Voyage Community

The gathering wasn’t just about the desserts (although I would happily attend for that alone).

Captains and senior officers from both ships joined the event, mingling with guests as travelers shared stories from months spent exploring the world together.

According to Zaandam’s Hotel General Manager Darren Lewis:

“Moments like this are what make a Grand Voyage truly unforgettable. When guests sail with us for months at a time, they become a community.”

Seeing that community come together… guests from two ships meeting halfway around the world, is a reminder of what makes long voyages so special.

Two Epic Journeys Around the World

While the ships met in Sydney, their journeys continue in very different directions.

Volendam is sailing a 133-day Grand World Voyage, continuing through Asia before crossing the Pacific and transiting the Panama Canal, ending in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Zaandam will continue exploring Australia and New Zealand, then sail to French Polynesia before finishing its 93-day Grand Voyage in San Diego, California.

These voyages represent some of the most immersive cruise experiences available today: months of travel, multiple continents, and unforgettable moments along the way.

Why Experiences Like This Matter

Events like the Chocolate Afternoon Tea are part of Holland America Line’s broader Grand Voyage program, designed to create once-in-a-lifetime experiences for long-sailing guests.

And honestly, it’s the kind of detail that makes cruising memorable.

Travel is about destinations, of course, but it’s also about the little moments along the way. An afternoon tea with world-class chocolate while two ships meet in Sydney Harbor? That’s the kind of story you tell for years.

And if Jacques Torres chocolate is involved… I’m definitely paying attention.

Topiaries, outdoor kitchens, and garden strolls during one of EPCOT’s most beautiful seasons, the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival 2026.

While this festival technically runs for months, I prefer to experience it slowly, returning again and again to wander through the gardens, admire the topiaries, and sample just a few dishes from the outdoor kitchens each visit.

This isn’t a “see absolutely everything in one day” type of event. It’s more like a seasonal celebration that unfolds over time.

Here are a few of the things I’ve loved so far during the 2026 festival.

The Topiaries Are the Stars of the Festival

One of the simplest joys of the festival is just walking the park and discovering the topiary displays.

Hundreds of thousands of plants are shaped into beloved characters and scenes, and each year Disney’s horticulture team somehow manages to make them feel both whimsical and artistic.

Some of my favorites this season include:

• Phineas and Ferb
• Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Pluto, and Chip ’n’ Dale
• Moana with Maui, Pua, and Heihei
• Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy
• Beauty and the Beast

You’ll find these living sculptures scattered throughout World Celebration, World Showcase, World Nature, and World Discovery, which makes exploring the park feel like a botanical treasure hunt.

Gardens, Tours, and Hidden Experiences

Beyond the topiaries, there are also themed gardens and educational displays throughout the park.

One experience I recommend is the English Tea Garden Tour presented by Twinings in the United Kingdom Pavilion.

Guests can choose between self-guided exploration or scheduled guided tours, both offered complimentary during the festival. It’s a relaxing and surprisingly educational stop while strolling through World Showcase.

Other festival activities include:

• Scavenger hunts (maps available for purchase)
• A butterfly garden research area
• Garden-themed play zones for children
• Limited-edition festival merchandise

Even longtime EPCOT visitors often discover something new during the festival.

Garden Rocks Concert Series

Every evening during the festival, the Garden Rocks Concert Series brings live music to the park.

The lineup rotates throughout the season, and this year I’m particularly excited about seeing:

• Air Supply
• Billy Ocean
• Information Society
• A Flock of Seagulls
• Rick Springfield

These performances take place nightly at the America Gardens Theatre and are included with park admission (though dining packages are available for guaranteed seating).

The Garden Graze Food Challenge

Food festivals are practically an EPCOT tradition, and the Garden Graze offers a fun way to sample the menu.

Here’s how it works:

Pick up a Festival Passport

Purchase five Garden Graze menu items

Get your passport stamped at each purchase

Redeem your completed passport for a complimentary Pineapple Promenade treat served in a collectible festival glass

It’s a delicious scavenger hunt.

What I’ve Tried So Far

The festival features 20 outdoor kitchens, and I’ve only just begun tasting my way through them.

Here are two highlights from my early visits.

Yacht Grub

My first stop was Yacht Grub, where I tried the Trio of Dips and Chips.

House-made potato chips are served with:

• whipped feta with candied lemon
• caramelized onion dip with caviar (yes, caviar!)
• pimento cheese with pickles

At just $6, it’s one of the better values at the festival.

I paired it with the Limoncello-Basil Sparkling Cocktail, made with sparkling wine, club soda, and limoncello garnished with fresh basil.

As someone who loves a good limoncello spritz, this was an easy “yes” for me.

Fleur de Lys (France Pavilion)

Over in the France Pavilion, I sampled the Canard Confit with rosemary mushroom sauce and herbed polenta cake.

It may not have been the prettiest dish for photos, but the flavor was incredible.

Naturally, I paired it with the La Vie en Rose Frozen Slush made with vodka, Grey Goose L’Orange, St-Germain elderflower liqueur, and cranberry juices.

Let’s just say… oui oui, s’il vous plaît.

What’s On My Must-Try List Next

There are still plenty of items on my list for future visits.

A few that have caught my attention:

Nectar (near The Land)
• Tuna poke bowl

Beach Grub
• Grilled street corn on the cob

EPCOT Farmers Feast (limited through May 10)
• Grilled asparagus with pancetta, spring peas, frisée, and a soft-poached egg
• Scallop with spring pea risotto
• Hibiscus lemonade cocktail with Islamorada Hibiscus Gin

The Honey Bee-stro
• Crispy chicken with honey-bacon cornbread waffle
• Frozen peach cobbler cocktail

Lan Yuan (China Pavilion)
• Cheesy crab wontons
• Sha Cha beef bao bun
• Pan-fried vegetable dumplings

Mexico Pavilion
• Chilaquiles con carne
• Festival margaritas

Trowel & Trellis
• Chocolate mousse terrarium (high on my list)

A Pineapple Treat I Won’t Miss

I’m also a longtime fan of DOLE Whip, so Pineapple Promenade immediately caught my attention.

The Pineapple-Mango Cream Float (DOLE Whip Pineapple topped with Somrus Mango Cream Liqueur) is definitely happening on a future visit.

A Louisiana Touch in the American Pavilion

Near the American Adventure, Magnolia Terrace is leaning into Louisiana flavors this year with items like:

• Blackened Shrimp Po’Boy
• Grilled Gulf oysters
• Spicy chicken gumbo
• Bananas Foster bread pudding

As someone who grew up in Louisiana, I may skip these in favor of more international bites… but I’m definitely curious about the spiced rum cocktail inspired by a Hurricane.

More Than a Festival

What I love most about EPCOT isn’t just the festivals.

Yes, the food booths and concerts are fun.

But what makes the park special is that every pavilion hides small educational experiences – cultural exhibits, films, gardens, and interactive displays that many guests walk right past.

The Flower & Garden Festival simply adds another layer of beauty to an already fascinating place.

And if you ask me, there’s no better way to spend a spring afternoon than wandering EPCOT with a cocktail in hand, admiring flowers shaped like your favorite childhood characters.

This visit is part of my ongoing Florida explorations. You can see more destinations in my Florida Getaways Guide.

When you live within driving distance of Orlando, it’s easy to default to the big names… Disney, Universal, the parks that come with fireworks and four-figure price tags. But recently, with my brother visiting and two nieces in tow (one preteen, one early teen), we decided to try something different: a day at Legoland Florida Resort.

The short answer? It depends on the age of your kids.

Here’s the honest breakdown.

The Pros: Why LEGOLAND Florida Works (Really Well) for Some Families

1. It’s More Affordable Than the Major Orlando Parks

Ticket prices are significantly lower than Disney or Universal, which makes it an appealing option for families who want a theme park experience without the full financial commitment.

Parking is straightforward. The layout is manageable. You don’t feel like you need military-level strategy to navigate the day.

2. Wait Times Were Very Manageable

We visited on a holiday week and still found rides to have reasonable wait times. That alone lowers the stress factor for parents.

For families with kids under 10, this is a huge win.

3. It’s Perfect for Ages 3–10

The sweet spot here is absolutely elementary school age. The rides are approachable, the LEGO-themed lands are immersive, and Miniland USA is genuinely impressive…even for adults.

And next door, the dedicated Peppa Pig Theme Park is ideal for toddlers and preschoolers. I will absolutely return with my grandbabies for that.

Where It Falls Short (For Teens and Adults)

If you’re visiting with tweens or teens, expectations matter.

My nieces enjoyed parts of the day, but it felt clear that most attractions are designed for the 10-and-under crowd. Thrill seekers will likely feel underwhelmed.

That said, a new roller coaster is opening soon, and I plan to return to try it myself. LEGOLAND is clearly working to expand its appeal.

But would my husband and I go on our own for a date day? Probably not.

And that’s okay.

Who Should Visit LEGOLAND Florida?

Great fit for:

Families with children under 10

Grandparents planning a manageable park day

Multi-generational trips where younger kids are the focus

Travelers looking for a lower-cost Orlando alternative

Probably skip (or manage expectations) if:

Your kids are thrill-focused teens

You’re comparing it directly to Disney or Universal

You’re looking for adult-forward entertainment

The Bigger Takeaway

Living in Florida means having choices.

There are beaches within reach. Springs and state parks. Outdoor adventures. Day trips to charming towns. The big theme parks. Smaller parks like LEGOLAND.

Not every destination is meant for every season of life.

And sometimes the value of a park day isn’t about the biggest ride, it’s about manageable crowds, affordable tickets, and giving younger kids a place that feels built just for them.

We’ll be back for Peppa Pig with the grandbabies.
We’ll try the new Galacticoaster.

But we’ll also continue exploring beyond the theme park gates.

Because from Orlando, there are so many ways to build a beautiful Florida adventure.

Planning Tip

If you’re cruising out of Port Canaveral or extending an Orlando trip, LEGOLAND can be a smart add-on for families with younger kids, especially if you’re balancing different age groups and budgets.

Lakeland Linder International Airport in Lakeland, FL is also a good option for flying into the Central Florida area. Smaller airport means less crowds, less hassle.

Tampa is one of the best home bases for a weekend getaway in Florida. Within a few hours, you can trade city life for Gulf Coast beaches, small-town charm, natural springs, or a romantic island escape.

Whether you’re planning a couples weekend, a quick girls’ trip, or a last-minute reset, these weekend getaways from Tampa are easy to reach and feel like a real vacation… without needing a plane ticket.

Here are some of the best weekend trips from Tampa for a 2–3 day escape.

1) Sarasota (about 1 hour)

Sarasota is the kind of getaway that feels instantly “vacation.” It’s polished, coastal, and full of options, whether you want a beach day, a great meal, or a little shopping.

Spend time at Siesta Key Beach, explore St. Armands Circle, and make dinner reservations somewhere that feels special. Sarasota is ideal for couples because it can be romantic without being overly formal.

Don’t miss: Siesta Key at sunset, St. Armands Circle, a waterfront dinner.

2) Anna Maria Island (about 1 hour 15 minutes)

Anna Maria Island is a perfect weekend getaway from Tampa if you want a slower pace. It’s charming, colorful, and full of that old-Florida beach town energy that’s harder to find these days.

This is the kind of weekend where you rent bikes, eat fresh seafood, and let the days unfold without a strict itinerary.

Don’t miss: sunset on the beach, casual seafood, a slow morning coffee run.

3) St. Petersburg (30–40 minutes)

If you want a weekend getaway without a long drive, St. Pete is one of the best options near Tampa. It has a vibrant arts scene, great restaurants, and a lively waterfront.

You can spend your day in downtown St. Pete, visit the Dalí Museum, explore the murals, and then head to St. Pete Beach for sunset.

Don’t miss: the Dalí Museum, downtown murals, sunset at the pier.

4) Clearwater Beach (45 minutes–1 hour)

Clearwater Beach is a classic for a reason. It’s one of the most popular beach destinations near Tampa, with soft white sand, calm water, and plenty of restaurants and resorts.

It’s a great weekend getaway for couples who want convenience, especially if you want to park the car and stay within walking distance of everything.

Don’t miss: Pier 60 at sunset, a beach day, a casual seafood dinner.

5) Naples (about 2 hours)

Naples is one of the most romantic weekend getaways in Florida and it’s very doable from Tampa. This is the choice for couples who want a weekend that feels elevated: beautiful beaches, upscale dining, boutique hotels, and a polished coastal vibe.

Naples is especially lovely for anniversaries, milestone weekends, or anytime you want to lean into “treat ourselves” energy.

Don’t miss: Fifth Avenue South, sunset on the beach, a waterfront dinner.

6) Sanibel & Captiva (about 2 hours 15 minutes)

Sanibel and Captiva are iconic for a reason. These islands are known for shelling, soft beaches, and a slower, nature-focused atmosphere.

Depending on travel conditions and the season, Sanibel can be a wonderful weekend getaway from Tampa for couples who want calm, quiet, and coastal beauty.

Don’t miss: shelling, long beach walks, sunset views.

7) Weeki Wachee Springs (about 1 hour 30 minutes)

If you want something different than the usual beach weekend, Weeki Wachee is a fun, classic Florida getaway. It’s known for its clear spring water, kayaking, and yes – the famous mermaid show.

This is a great option for couples or families who want a weekend that’s outdoorsy and lighthearted.

Don’t miss: kayaking the Weeki Wachee River, spring swimming, a relaxed lunch nearby.

8) Crystal River (about 1 hour 45 minutes)

Crystal River is one of the best weekend trips from Tampa if you love nature. It’s known for manatees (in season), clear water, and a relaxed coastal vibe.

This is a great choice for travelers who want an “easy Florida adventure” without theme parks or crowds.

Don’t miss: a manatee tour (seasonal), kayaking, Three Sisters Springs.

9) Orlando (about 1 hour 30 minutes)

Orlando is obviously known for theme parks, but it can also be a great weekend getaway from Tampa for couples… especially if you plan it around dining, resorts, and experiences outside the parks.

Orlando is also a smart base if you’re planning a cruise out of Port Canaveral, since you can turn a cruise into a longer getaway by spending a day or two in the area before sailing.

Don’t miss: resort dining, Disney Springs (even without parks), a spa day.

Tips for Planning a Weekend Getaway from Tampa

A weekend getaway doesn’t have to be complicated. The best trips are often the ones where you choose one main destination and build in time to actually relax.

A few quick tips:

Pick one “anchor plan.” A beach day, a boat tour, a spa appointment, or a sunset dinner reservation.

Stay somewhere walkable if you want to minimize driving.

Travel in shoulder seasons if possible. Florida weekends can feel very different when crowds are lighter.

Final Thoughts: Tampa Is the Perfect Launch Point for Florida Weekends

One of the best things about Tampa is how quickly you can get somewhere that feels completely different. In just a couple of hours, you can be on a quiet island, in a charming coastal town, or kayaking in crystal-clear spring water.

Whether you want romance, relaxation, or a little adventure, there’s a weekend getaway from Tampa that fits the mood.

Weekend Getaway Tip: Turn a Cruise Into a Longer Florida Escape

Tampa isn’t just a great home base for weekend road trips. It’s also home to one of Florida’s most convenient cruise ports. If you’re sailing out of Port Tampa Bay, consider arriving a day early (or staying an extra day after your cruise) to turn your sailing into a full weekend getaway.

A few easy pre- or post-cruise ideas from Tampa include a beach day in Clearwater, a relaxing island stay on Anna Maria, or a food-and-art weekend in St. Petersburg. Even one extra night can make your trip feel less rushed, and far more memorable.

Midcoast Maine is one of those places that feels like a deep breath.

It’s coastal, charming, and full of small towns that each have their own personality… whether you’re craving a harbor view, a lobster roll, a quiet hike, or a boutique shopping afternoon.

For first-time visitors, Midcoast Maine is the perfect region for a weekend getaway because it’s easy to explore without feeling rushed. And for returning travelers, it’s the kind of place that keeps calling you back, season after season.

If you’re looking for weekend getaway ideas in Midcoast Maine, these are some of the best towns and regions to consider for a 2–3 day escape.

1) Camden (and nearby Rockport)

If Midcoast Maine had a “postcard town,” Camden would be it.

Camden offers a picture-perfect harbor, a walkable downtown filled with shops and cafés, and some of the best scenic views in the state. It’s romantic, charming, and just polished enough to feel special for a weekend.

Nearby Rockport is quieter and equally beautiful, perfect if you want a slightly calmer stay while still being close to everything.

Don’t miss:

Harbor strolls and downtown shopping

A scenic drive along Route 1

A hike at Camden Hills State Park

2) Rockland

Rockland is a great weekend getaway in Midcoast Maine if you want a little more culture with your coastal scenery.

It’s home to museums, galleries, and a lively food scene, and it’s a wonderful base for exploring nearby towns. Rockland feels more like a working coastal city than a sleepy village, which makes it fun and refreshing.

Don’t miss:

The Farnsworth Art Museum

A walk along the waterfront

A meal that includes fresh seafood (because of course)

3) Boothbay Harbor

Boothbay Harbor is one of the most iconic weekend getaway destinations in Maine, and for good reason.

This harbor town has the classic Maine coastal vibe: boats, salty air, waterfront dining, and scenic views everywhere you look. It’s especially popular in summer, but it’s also lovely in shoulder seasons when things feel a little quieter.

Don’t miss:

A boat cruise (even a short one feels magical)

Shops and ice cream along the harbor

Sunset cocktails by the water

4) Damariscotta (and the Pemaquid area)

Damariscotta is a Midcoast favorite because it’s charming, easy, and filled with good food.

It’s also close to one of the most beautiful coastal spots in the region: Pemaquid Point. If you want a weekend getaway that blends small-town charm with dramatic Maine coastline, this is a perfect pick.

Don’t miss:

Fresh oysters (this area is known for them)

Pemaquid Point Lighthouse

A slow morning exploring downtown

5) Belfast

Belfast is one of the most underrated weekend getaways in Midcoast Maine. It’s walkable, artsy, and full of personality, without feeling overly touristy.

This is a great place for travelers who love independent bookstores, local cafés, and coastal views that feel real rather than curated.

Don’t miss:

The waterfront walk

Local shops and galleries

A cozy dinner in town

6) Wiscasset

Wiscasset is small, but it’s famous for a reason.

It’s one of the most charming towns in Maine, and it makes a perfect stop on a weekend getaway, especially if you’re doing a “coastal hopping” kind of trip through Midcoast towns.

Wiscasset is also a great base for exploring nearby places like Edgecomb, Newcastle, and the Boothbay region.

Don’t miss:

A classic lobster roll stop

A stroll through the historic downtown

The harbor views

7) Bath

Bath is a wonderful Midcoast Maine weekend getaway for travelers who love history and architecture.

It’s a shipbuilding town with a strong identity, and it has a charming downtown filled with cafés, restaurants, and locally owned shops. Bath is also an easy drive from Brunswick, which makes it a great “two-town weekend” option.

Don’t miss:

The Maine Maritime Museum

Downtown shopping and dining

A scenic drive along the river

8) Brunswick

Brunswick is a fantastic weekend getaway in Midcoast Maine because it offers a little bit of everything: great food, walkability, history, and easy access to coastal day trips.

It’s also home to Bowdoin College, which gives it a lively, intelligent vibe, especially if you enjoy museums, bookstores, and a town that feels active year-round.

Don’t miss:

Bowdoin College Museum of Art

A meal in downtown Brunswick

Day trips to Harpswell or nearby coastal areas

9) Union, Lincolnville & the “Quiet Midcoast” towns

Not every Midcoast Maine weekend needs to be a harbor town.

If you want something quieter, the inland towns like Union or Lincolnville and their surrounding areas offer a slower, more peaceful Maine experience. Think: lakes, farm stands, small local shops, and a calm pace that feels restorative.

This is the kind of getaway that’s perfect for readers who want to unplug and reset.

Don’t miss:

Scenic drives through the countryside

Local farm stands

Lake views and quiet mornings

Tips for Planning a Midcoast Maine Weekend Getaway

Midcoast Maine is beautiful in every season, but your experience will change depending on when you visit.

Summer brings classic coastal energy… busy towns, boat tours, and peak lobster roll season.
Fall is stunning, with crisp air and fewer crowds.
Winter is quiet and cozy (perfect for those who love snow and fireplaces).
Spring is a fresh, in-between season where the region begins to wake up again.

A few planning tips:

Book lodging early for summer weekends

Build in time for scenic drives (Route 1 is part of the magic)

Don’t try to see everything in one weekend. Pick 1–2 towns and enjoy them

Midcoast Maine Is the Perfect Weekend Escape

Midcoast Maine is one of the best weekend getaway regions in the Northeast because it offers so much variety in a relatively small area. Whether you want a harbor town, an artsy coastal city, a historic downtown, or a quiet inland reset, you’ll find it here.

And the best part? It’s the kind of place that doesn’t just feel like a destination, it feels like a return to yourself.

Florida has a reputation for theme parks, family vacations, and spring break energy, but couples who live here (or visit often) know the truth: Florida can be incredibly romantic.

From historic coastal towns to luxury beach resorts, from quiet islands to food-forward cities, there are countless places to escape for a weekend and actually feel like you’ve gone somewhere.

Whether you’re planning an anniversary trip, a last-minute getaway, or just craving a change of scenery with your favorite person, these Florida weekend getaways for couples are easy, memorable, and worth putting on your calendar.

1) St. Augustine (Northeast Florida)

St. Augustine is one of the most romantic weekend getaways in Florida, especially if you love history, walkable streets, and that “old world” feeling you don’t often get in the Sunshine State.

Spend your days wandering cobblestone streets, browsing boutiques, and stopping for cocktails in tucked-away courtyards. At night, book a cozy dinner and take a scenic stroll through the historic district.

Perfect for: couples who want charm, history, and a European-style vibe.

2) Amelia Island (Fernandina Beach)

If you want quiet coastal beauty without the crowds, Amelia Island is a dream. The beaches are gorgeous, the vibe is calm, and the historic downtown area of Fernandina Beach is perfect for slow mornings and sunset dinners.

This is a wonderful getaway if you want a romantic weekend that feels relaxed and slightly upscale…without trying too hard.

Perfect for: couples who want a peaceful beach town with charm.

3) Sarasota (Gulf Coast)

Sarasota is one of the best weekend getaways in Florida for couples who want a little bit of everything: beaches, great restaurants, shopping, and an elevated “coastal lifestyle” vibe.

You can spend the day at Siesta Key Beach, explore St. Armands Circle, or make a reservation somewhere special and dress up a little. Sarasota feels like a getaway even if you’re only there for 48 hours.

Perfect for: couples who want beach + dining + a polished vibe.

4) Anna Maria Island (near Bradenton)

Anna Maria Island is what Florida used to feel like… colorful, casual, and charming in a way that makes you slow down.

This is a fantastic couples weekend getaway if you want long beach walks, bike rides, and that “no schedule” feeling. It’s not about nightlife here. It’s about sunsets, fresh seafood, and relaxing like you mean it.

Perfect for: couples who want an old-school beach escape.

5) Naples (Southwest Florida)

Naples is the answer if you want romance with a side of luxury.

It’s polished, beautiful, and made for couples who love a great hotel, a great meal, and a beach sunset that feels like it belongs on a postcard. Spend your weekend strolling Fifth Avenue South, sipping wine at a patio restaurant, and enjoying the Gulf Coast at its most glamorous.

Perfect for: anniversaries, milestone weekends, and “treat ourselves” trips.

6) Key West (Florida Keys)

Key West is one of those places that feels like a different country. It’s quirky, colorful, and made for couples who want their weekend to feel like a real escape.

You can spend the day on the water, visit iconic landmarks, and end the night with live music and a cocktail. It’s romantic in a wild, playful way… less “quiet luxury,” more “let’s make memories.”

Perfect for: couples who want energy, adventure, and tropical vibes.

7) Islamorada (Florida Keys)

If Key West feels too busy, Islamorada is the softer, more romantic Keys alternative.

Think: boutique resorts, waterfront dinners, calm mornings, and sunset views that make you want to put your phone away. Islamorada is a top-tier couples getaway for relaxation, especially if you love boating, snorkeling, or just being near the water.

Perfect for: couples who want a luxury Florida Keys weekend without the party vibe.

8) Mount Dora (Central Florida)

Mount Dora is one of Florida’s most underrated weekend getaways for couples. It’s not a beach town, and that’s exactly why it works.

This charming small town is filled with antique shops, cute cafés, lake views, and a walkable downtown that makes it feel like a Hallmark movie, without being cheesy.

It’s the perfect romantic weekend when you want something cozy, simple, and different from the usual Florida itinerary.

Perfect for: couples who love small towns, shopping, and slow weekends.

9) Sanibel & Captiva (when open/accessible)

Sanibel and Captiva have long been iconic Florida romantic getaways, known for shelling, soft beaches, and a calm, nature-focused vibe.

Depending on the season and current travel conditions, these islands can still be a beautiful option for couples who want a quieter beach weekend and love the idea of long walks, wildlife, and sunset dinners.

Perfect for: couples who want nature + calm + coastal beauty.

Tips for Planning a Romantic Weekend Getaway in Florida

Florida is easy to travel, but a few small choices can make your couples weekend feel far more special.

Pick one “anchor moment.”
A sunset cruise, a spa appointment, a waterfront dinner, or even a morning coffee walk somewhere scenic. One intentional plan makes the weekend feel romantic instead of random.

Stay somewhere with atmosphere.
A romantic weekend is as much about where you stay as what you do. Look for boutique hotels, waterfront properties, or resorts with great pools and walkable access.

Don’t overschedule.
Florida weekends are best when they include space to slow down, especially if the point of the getaway is reconnection.

Florida Is Made for Couples Weekends

Florida is full of destinations that feel like a true vacation, even if you’re only gone for two nights. Whether you want beach romance, historic charm, island time, or a small-town escape, there’s a Florida weekend getaway that fits your mood.

And the best part? You don’t need a plane ticket, a complicated itinerary, or a long list of reservations. Sometimes all you need is a weekend, a change of scenery, and someone you love to share it with.

Baton Rouge is a city with deep Louisiana roots, a strong food culture, and the kind of everyday rhythm that feels familiar in the best way. But sometimes, even when you love your home base, you just need a change of scenery.

The good news? Baton Rouge is one of the best “launch pad” cities in the South for a weekend getaway. Within a few hours, you can trade traffic for oak-lined streets, swap errands for beach walks, or step into a small-town downtown where the only decision you need to make is: coffee first, or antiques?

Whether you’re craving a romantic weekend, a girls’ trip, a family escape, or a quiet solo recharge, these weekend getaways from Baton Rouge are easy, memorable, and worth the drive.

1) St. Francisville, Louisiana (Less than an 1 hour)

If you want a weekend getaway that feels like stepping into a slower era, St. Francisville is the one. This charming town is close enough to feel effortless, but it still delivers that “I’m away” feeling… especially if you stay overnight.

Spend your time wandering historic streets, browsing local shops, and eating well. St. Francisville is one of those places where you can truly build a weekend around simple pleasures: a great breakfast, a scenic drive, a cocktail on a porch, and a cozy bed you don’t have to make.

Don’t miss:

A walk through town and the historic district

A relaxed brunch and a little shopping

Sunset drives through the surrounding countryside

Why it works: It’s close, beautiful, and the vibe is calm, but still interesting.

2) Lafayette, Louisiana (1 hour 15 minutes)

Lafayette is the perfect weekend getaway when you want Louisiana culture turned up a notch. The food is outstanding, the music scene is alive, and the whole city feels like it knows how to enjoy itself.

This is a great option for couples and friends who want a weekend with energy… without the intensity (or crowds) of New Orleans.

Plan for live music, boudin stops, and a meal that makes you consider moving. Lafayette also makes a great base for exploring nearby Cajun Country.

Don’t miss:

Live music (even if it’s just for one drink)

A boudin crawl

A stop at Vermilionville or nearby cultural sites

Why it works: It’s authentic, fun, and food-focused.

3) New Orleans (1 hour 15 minutes)

Yes, it’s the obvious choice. And yes, it’s still worth including. Because when New Orleans is done right, it’s one of the best weekend getaways in the entire country.

But here’s the trick: if you’re coming from Baton Rouge, skip the chaotic version of New Orleans and plan a more intentional one. Think: boutique hotel, long meals, museums, and a quiet cocktail bar. Let it be romantic or restorative, not exhausting.

Don’t miss:

A morning in the Garden District

A museum visit (WWII Museum is a standout)

A long dinner reservation you actually look forward to

Why it works: New Orleans is a classic for a reason—you just have to do it your way.

4) Natchez, Mississippi (1 hour 30 minutes)

Natchez is one of the most underrated weekend getaways from Baton Rouge. It’s close enough for a quick escape, but it feels completely different… more historic, more scenic, and almost storybook in parts.

This is a perfect weekend for:

couples who want something romantic

history lovers

anyone who wants a small-town vibe with real character

Natchez has beautiful architecture, a charming downtown, and the kind of views that make you slow down.

Don’t miss:

The Natchez Bluff and river views

Historic homes and guided tours

Downtown shopping and dining

Why it works: It’s peaceful and unique, and it doesn’t feel like every other Southern weekend trip.

5) Gulf Shores & Orange Beach, Alabama (3 hours 30 minutes)

If you’re craving a true “reset,” point your car toward the coast.

Gulf Shores and Orange Beach are easy beach getaways from Baton Rouge, especially for families, couples, and anyone who wants that mix of laid-back AND convenient.

You’ll get sugar-white sand, warm Gulf water in season, and plenty of rental options, from condos to resorts. The best part is how quickly you can go from Louisiana highways to “toes in the sand.”

Don’t miss:

A sunset walk on the beach

Fresh seafood (the kind you talk about later)

A day trip to Fairhope if you want extra charm

Why it works: It’s the classic beach weekend, and it’s doable without a plane ticket.

6) Fairhope, Alabama (4 hours)

Fairhope is one of those places that makes you say, “Wait… why haven’t I been coming here my whole life?”

This small town on Mobile Bay is charming, walkable, and full of boutiques, coffee shops, and waterfront views. It’s a great weekend getaway for couples or friends who want something pretty, peaceful, and slightly elevated.

Fairhope is especially perfect if you want a “soft life” kind of weekend: brunch, shopping, a waterfront stroll, and early nights.

Don’t miss:

Downtown Fairhope boutiques

The pier and bayfront views

A slow morning with coffee and no agenda

Why it works: It’s calm, coastal, and feels like a true escape.

7) Biloxi & Gulfport, Mississippi (2 hours 45 minutes)

Biloxi is the more obvious name, but Gulfport is often the real star. Together, they make a fantastic weekend getaway from Baton Rouge, especially if you want a mix of beach, art, food, and a little nightlife.

This is a great alternative to Alabama beaches if you want something closer, and it’s also a fun option for adults thanks to casinos (hello Beau Rivage!), cocktail bars, and live entertainment.

Don’t miss:

Gulfport downtown (galleries, shops, restaurants)

A beach day (even if it’s just a walk)

A casual seafood meal

Why it works: It’s close, easy, and has variety.

8) Natchitoches, Louisiana (3 hours)

Natchitoches (pronounced NACK-uh-tish) is one of the most charming small towns in Louisiana, and it’s a wonderful weekend getaway when you want something classic and picturesque.

The downtown area is beautiful and walkable, with a riverfront vibe and historic architecture. It’s especially magical during the holiday season, but it’s a solid year-round getaway.

This is the kind of weekend where you slow down, take photos, browse shops, and enjoy a simple dinner somewhere cozy.

Don’t miss:

The historic district

Riverfront walks

Cane River Lake views

Why it works: It feels like a true Louisiana escape… without needing to leave the state.

9) Avery Island & New Iberia (2 hours)

If you’ve done the typical Louisiana weekend trips and want something different, head toward Avery Island.

This is one of the most unique getaways from Baton Rouge because it blends nature, Louisiana history, and a little “only in Louisiana” magic. You can tour the Tabasco factory, explore Jungle Gardens, and spend time in nearby New Iberia for food and small-town culture.

It’s a perfect weekend for curious travelers and families.

Don’t miss:

Avery Island and Jungle Gardens

A Tabasco tour (yes, it’s actually fun)

Exploring New Iberia nearby

Why it works: It’s unique, local, and not the same old weekend itinerary.

Tips for Planning the Perfect Weekend Getaway from Baton Rouge

A weekend getaway doesn’t need to be complicated to feel meaningful. The best trips are often the ones that require the least logistics.

A few quick planning tips:

Leave early on Saturday if you’re only doing one night, traffic and check-in timing matter.

Book restaurants in advance for places like New Orleans or St. Francisville.

Pick one “anchor activity.” A beach day, a historic tour, a spa appointment…one main plan makes the weekend feel intentional.

Don’t overschedule. A weekend getaway should feel like relief, not another to-do list.

Baton Rouge Is a Great Home Base for Quick Escapes

One of the best things about living in or visiting Baton Rouge is that you’re never far from something completely different. Within a few hours, you can be on the Gulf, wandering a historic town, listening to live Cajun music, or sipping coffee in a charming downtown that feels like it belongs in a movie.

So the next time you’re feeling restless, remember: you don’t need a big vacation. You just need a weekend, a destination, and a reason to go.

If you’ve ever finished an episode of The White Lotus and immediately opened a new tab to search “Where was this filmed?”… you’re not alone.

The White Lotus has become one of those rare shows that doesn’t just entertain, it inspires luxury travel. The scenery is stunning, the hotels are jaw-dropping, and the destinations feel like dreamscapes. But what makes the show so addictive is the contrast: paradise on the outside, chaos underneath.

The good news? You can actually visit these places. And in many cases, you can experience the “White Lotus vibe” without needing to book the most expensive suite on the property.

Even better: I’ve been fortunate to experience every White Lotus destination in real life (though not always in the same way). Some I’ve stayed at, others I’ve visited on cruise stops, and some I’ve explored through spa days, cultural experiences, and unforgettable meals.

Here’s a traveler’s guide to every White Lotus filming destination (so far), plus practical tips on how to enjoy them… whether you’re planning a romantic escape, a luxury splurge, or a once-in-a-lifetime trip.

Why The White Lotus Filming Locations Are So Iconic

The White Lotus doesn’t just pick beautiful places. It picks destinations with:

strong sense of place

rich culture

layered history

dramatic scenery

and a certain “escape fantasy” energy

The hotels themselves are often characters in the story: polished, glamorous, and quietly intense.

And while the show is fictional, the destinations are very real… and worth the obsession.

Season 1: Hawaii — The Tropical Escape Fantasy

Where it was filmed:

Four Seasons Maui at Wailea, Hawaii

Season 1 introduced us to the show’s signature formula: luxury resort life, dazzling scenery, and the tension that bubbles beneath the surface.

Maui is the perfect backdrop for this. It’s lush, warm, and undeniably beautiful. But, it also has a depth that rewards travelers who go beyond the pool.

My experience in Hawaii:

I’ve visited Maui, and it truly is a lovely island. It’s the kind of place where you can spend a week doing nothing but watching the light shift across the water, and still feel like you’ve experienced something profound.

While I didn’t stay at the exact filming hotel on Maui, I have stayed at the Four Seasons on Lāna‘i… and if you want to understand the “White Lotus” version of luxury, the Four Seasons brand absolutely captures it.

Lāna‘i is quieter than Maui. More secluded. More exclusive. It’s not a place you stumble into. It’s a place you choose when you want to disappear for a while.

What makes Hawaii feel “White Lotus” in real life:

tropical beauty that feels almost unreal

high-end resort culture

quiet pockets of privacy

spa rituals and wellness

oceanfront dining that feels cinematic

Mama Tip:

If you’re traveling without kids, Hawaii is one of the easiest places to turn a resort stay into a true “reset.” You don’t need a packed itinerary, you need time.

Season 2: Taormina, Sicily – Old World Glamour + Mediterranean Drama

Where it was filmed:

San Domenico Palace Four Seasons, Taormina, Sicily

Season 2 shifted the show into full Mediterranean fantasy mode and Taormina was the perfect choice.

Taormina is one of the most stunning coastal towns in Europe. It’s perched above the sea, full of winding streets, terraces, boutiques, and that kind of cinematic beauty that makes you feel like you’re inside a film even when you’re just ordering gelato (or a cannoli since that is where it was invented).

My experience in Taormina:

I’ve visited Taormina twice (both times while on a Mediterranean cruise) and even without staying overnight, it left a lasting impression.

Taormina has a vibe that’s hard to replicate: elegant, romantic, slightly dramatic (hello, Mt Etna), and effortlessly Italian. It’s the kind of place where you want to linger over an aperitivo, wear your prettiest sundress, and pretend you don’t have a return flight.

What makes Taormina feel “White Lotus”:

breathtaking views over the Ionian Sea

cliffside terraces and luxury hotels

an atmosphere that feels both glamorous and ancient

upscale dining with slow pacing

a sense of “watching and being watched”

Best way to experience it:

Even if you don’t stay at the hotel, you can:

spend time wandering the town

stop for a long lunch with a view

visit the ancient Greek Theatre

enjoy a spritz on a terrace

and let the town’s beauty do the work

Season 3: Thailand – Wellness, Stillness, and Tropical Elegance

Where it was filmed:

Four Seasons Koh Samui, Thailand

Season 3 took the White Lotus energy into a new direction: more spiritual, more wellness-driven, and deeply atmospheric.

Thailand is one of those destinations that can change you, especially when you slow down enough to feel it.

My experience in Thailand:

I stayed at the Four Seasons Chiang Mai, and while the show was filmed at a different Four Seasons in the area, it was one of the most memorable luxury stays of my life.

If you’ve seen the imagery from The White Lotus Thailand season, you already understand why. The landscape is lush. The design is calm and intentional. The pace is slower. And the entire experience feels curated around restoration.

It’s the kind of place where:

mornings begin softly

meals feel intentional

spa time becomes a ritual

and you stop reaching for your phone

What makes Thailand feel “White Lotus”:

ultra-luxury with a serene tone

spa culture woven into daily life

design that feels rooted, not flashy

the sense that you’re somewhere ancient and sacred

a quiet that feels like a privilege

Mama Tip:

Thailand is one of the best places in the world for a romantic trip without kids, because the luxury feels like it’s designed for calm, not chaos. And can we talk about the exchange rate in Thailand? Amazing.

Season 4: Saint-Tropez, France – The Next Luxury Obsession

Where it’s being filmed:

Château de la Messardière, Saint-Tropez, France

When I found out Season 4 of The White Lotus is being filmed at Airelles Saint-Tropez, Château de la Messardière, I had the biggest smile.

Not because it was surprising, but because it makes perfect sense.

This hotel is the definition of:

gated privacy

old-world glamour

Mediterranean elegance

and quiet exclusivity

My experience at Château de la Messardière:

I stayed there in the spring, and it remains one of the most epic luxury experiences I’ve ever had.

From the moment you pass through the gates and ride up the hill to the château, the world changes. Everything feels bright. Elevated. Protected.

The views stretch over the Bay of Saint-Tropez and the Ramatuelle vineyards, and the entire property feels like it was built for cinematic storytelling.

I wrote a full personal story about my stay (including the suite, the sparkling rosé moment, the privacy culture, and the South of France magic) and you can read it here:

Before The White Lotus: My Stay at Château de la Messardière in Saint-Tropez

The Common Thread: Why Four Seasons Keeps Appearing in White Lotus Travel Fantasies

One of the most fascinating patterns in White Lotus filming locations is that they tend to align with the Four Seasons style of luxury:

high design standards

strong sense of place

impeccable service

wellness-forward amenities

understated elegance

Even when the hotel isn’t a Four Seasons property (as with Saint-Tropez), the vibe remains consistent: luxury that feels cinematic.

How to Plan Your Own White Lotus-Inspired Trip (Without Losing Your Mind)

Because let’s be honest… this is a Traveling Mamas site, and we’re not just here for fantasy. We’re here for real-life planning too.

1. Choose ONE destination and go deeper

Instead of trying to recreate every season, pick the one that fits your current life season:

Hawaii for tropical rest

Sicily for romance + culture

Thailand for wellness + reset

France for glamour + indulgence

2. Travel in shoulder season

This is where luxury becomes more attainable:

spring in France

early fall in Italy

shoulder season in Hawaii

non-holiday Thailand

3. Experience the vibe without booking the most expensive room

Even if you don’t stay overnight, you can still:

book a spa treatment

reserve a special lunch

enjoy a cocktail on a terrace

take a cooking class

explore the surrounding town

4. Leave space for the “in-between”

White Lotus destinations feel cinematic because they’re slow.
The magic is in:

sunsets

long lunches

spa rituals

Why These Places Stay With You

The White Lotus doesn’t just sell luxury. It sells atmosphere.

And the truth is, the real magic of these destinations isn’t the price tag. It’s the feeling they leave behind.

The kind of feeling that returns years later when you hear a song, taste a glass of wine, or see sunlight hit the water in a certain way.

If you’re dreaming of a White Lotus-inspired trip, I hope this guide helps you choose a destination that matches your life season, and encourages you to travel not just for photos, but for restoration.

Because mamas deserve luxury too. And not just luxury… space.

Some places never really leave you, no matter how far life carries you.
St. Francisville is one of those places for me.

If circumstances were different (my husband has to live near an East Coast company base) I would be back in Louisiana, and very likely back in St. Francisville. My daughter and grandkids live nearby now. I lived here for a season of my life. And some of my deepest memories are rooted just down the road at the dream house my parents’ built.

It’s a town tied to family, reflection, and comfort, which is exactly why it makes such a perfect weekend getaway in Louisiana.

Why St. Francisville Is Ideal for a Weekend Escape

Perched on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River, St. Francisville offers something rare in Louisiana: rolling terrain, cooler breezes, and a sense of quiet elevation… both literal and emotional.

What makes it special:

A walkable historic district with true small-town charm

Moss-draped roads and scenic drives through West Feliciana Parish

Deep history layered with natural beauty

Thoughtful dining, cozy lodging, and welcoming locals

A Hallmark-movie feel without feeling staged or artificial

It’s no accident that river cruises include St. Francisville as a stop. Travelers recognize when a place has soul.

Where to Stay in St. Francisville

Despite its small size, St. Francisville offers a variety of accommodations, from historic inns to practical stays.

Places I’ve Stayed

Shade Tree Inn – Comfortable, convenient, and central

Hotel Toussaint – A newer boutique option with charm and character

A nearby Best Western – Practical and reliable when availability is tight

A handful of home rentals (limited due to local ordinances)

Other Notable Options

The Myrtles Plantation – Historic and atmospheric

St. Francisville Inn – Romantic, refined, and a destination in itself

The Lodge at the Bluffs – Peaceful, scenic, and ideal for unplugging

There are other charming places to stay as well. Part of the joy here is discovering what fits your travel style best.

What to Do: History, Nature & Slow Living

St. Francisville invites you to slow down, and rewards you when you do.

History & Culture

Wander the historic district, visit preserved churches and homes, and let the stories of the region unfold naturally. Even without a formal itinerary, history is everywhere.

Nature & Outdoors

Hike the trails of Tunica Hills

Visit nearby historic homes and gardens

Take scenic drives through West Feliciana Parish

Do Nothing (On Purpose)

Coffee on a quiet morning

An unhurried walk through town

Watching the light change over the river bluffs

This is not a checklist destination, it’s a feeling destination.

Where to Eat & Drink

The food scene in St. Francisville is comforting, local, and deeply tied to community.

Coffee & Mornings

Bird Man Coffee – A favorite for excellent coffee

Elta Coffee – Located at The Myrtles’ gift shop, perfect for a relaxed start

Breakfast & Brunch

The Saint at St. Francisville Inn – Wonderful for breakfast, brunch, or evening cocktails (my favorite is the Cajun French Martini, and lunch or dinner here is outstanding, also )

1796 at The Myrtles – A beautiful brunch experience steeped in history

Lunch & Casual Dining

Magnolia Cafe – Known locally as The Mag; I love the soup and sandwich deal

The Francis – Popular casual Louisiana fare, offers boiled crawfish in season

Dinner, Pizza & Evenings Out

Big River Pizza – A newer spot with great pizza

Inside is Proud Mary’s, a hidden speakeasy-style bar

Bayou Sara Brewing Company – Right next door; very family-friendly and welcoming

Comfort & Local Favorites

Que Pasa

El Mejor

You’ll also find additional pizza spots, American-Chinese options, and casual eateries. There’s truly more than can fit into one weekend. And, there is even a walk up Daiquiri shop. Shhh!

Local tip: Audubon Market is a gem for Louisiana-made products, local seafood, and a hot deli, perfect for picnic supplies or an easy night in.

Shopping & Local Finds

Shopping here is part of the experience. Not rushed, not overwhelming, and full of personality.

Sage Hill – A favorite for gifts and stylish finds (including playful pieces like Queen of Sparkles tops)

The Corbel – A standout home store sourcing antique European items and crafting furniture from reclaimed Louisiana cypress

I purchased a swing bed here for our home in Maine, shipped north so a little piece of Louisiana could live with us year-round

Barlow and Deyo – Unique clothing and accessories (His & Hers)

Elements – A newer favorite with thoughtfully curated pieces

There are many more small shops worth exploring. Wandering without an agenda is part of the charm.

A Simple Weekend Itinerary

Friday:
Arrive, settle in, dinner out, evening stroll

Saturday:
Coffee → downtown shopping → lunch → nature or history → cocktails or brewery

Sunday:
Brunch, scenic drive, unhurried departure

You’ll leave refreshed, not depleted.

Final Thoughts

St. Francisville isn’t loud or flashy, and that’s exactly why it stays with you. It’s a place for reconnecting: with family, with memory, and with yourself. Whether you come for history, nature, food, or simply stillness, it offers one of the most quietly beautiful weekend getaways in Louisiana.

And chances are, like me, you’ll find yourself coming back.
