As I worked my way through authoring my past faults, I was surprised to see “I have a hard time planning for the future because I am interested in everything” listed as one.

My whole life I’d viewed my desire to be interested in lots of things as a strength. I’m a well-rounded individual I would think to my self.
However, as I began to pen out how this feature had affected my life, I began to realise that it was hindering me.

The real reason I wanted to be interested in so many things is that the project or idea I was entertaining at the time either bored me or was too challenging. So I’d just move on. Lying to myself, telling myself I’m just broadening my horizons. Sad, I know. But it’s the truth.

As I sit here, just over a month away from my 24th birthday, I think back on all the things I’ve given up on — just because they challenged me or boredom set in. It makes me sick. Less of a nauseous sick. More of an anxious sick. What if I continue to waste away the rest of my days half arsing everything I take on.

Well, that’s where this blog comes in.

The last couple of weeks I’ve rigorously planned out my days and weeks in an attempt to get better. And well, I’ve seen a dramatic increase in output. While it’s still not Bezos or Musk levels of productivity — it’s a darn sight more than what it used to be.

In addition to planning, I want to document what I’ve learned:

To review what I’ve learned.

To see what I need to brush up on in the future.

To see if I’m efficiently utilising my time.

It just so happens I’ve been doing busy work to put off setting up this blog, so I’ve got a couple of weeks of learning to review and post.

But I’ve crossed another thing off my list.

As a final thought. If for some reason you’re reading this and like me, you sometimes lack discipline to see things through; I highly recommend writing about your past — honestly, mind you. And planning out your future.
-tj
