[...] I’ve said this before, and while I suspect that it is true, I nonetheless wish it were not. As K.P. mentions in this sermon: What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray? And if he finds it, truly, I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine that never went astray. So it is not the will of my Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.Matthew 18:12-14 (ESV) [...]

I think you're on to something with your evidence 1, but the other two don't make any sense. In two you cite the parable of the two sons, but then talk about John the Baptist. Three I just don't get at all.
But I have thought your premis is correct for some time. The closest I could come was John 11 starting in 45 where they admitted he did many miracles, but then said, "let's kill him".
It was because they were afraid he was going to knock them off their position of money and power.

Hey,
I don't intend for this to sound so snide, but, why do you assume John MacArthur gives a correct, fair assessment? Why does slave better translate the sense of doulos than bondservant? And, slave may be the better translations but does that necessitate some conspiracy behind modern English translations?

God Bless,

Greg
