In other words, there are tons of new moves that are VERY challenging, but a lot of fun!</p><p>I especially love the variety of pull ups that you&#8217;re doing in P90X2. I never knew you could do so many things on a pull up bar! :-) One of my all time favorites is the Lever pull up. It&#8217;s pretty tough to describe but it&#8217;s super challenging, but really fun at the same time. I&#8217;ll have to get a video of me doing the Lever pull ups to show you.</p><p>Another challenging move is appropriately named-</p><p>The Impossible/Possible (from the P90X2 Chest + Back + Balance workout)</p><p>During this move your legs are on a stability ball and your arms are on 1 medicine ball (in a push up position). Your goal is to stay on the balls and do as many push ups as you can (while maintaining good form). Yea&#8230;.</p><p>I could do <strong>ZERO</strong> of those the first time I tried that move, and this week I was able to do 1 rep with perfect form! :-)</p><p>As hard as that move is, I LOVE the challenge! Not all of the moves in Phase 2 of P90X2 are THAT challenging, but Tony Horton has sprinkled in moves like that here and there.</p><p>So in a nutshell, I&#8217;m LOVIN the Phase 2 <a href="http://trek2befit.com/p90x2-workouts" target="_blank">P90X2 workouts</a>!</p><h3>Changes I&#8217;m Making&#8230;</h3><p><img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-290337" title="P90X2 Hulk" src="http://cdn.trek2befit.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/P90X2-Hulk-300x265.jpg" alt="P90X2 Hulk" width="300" height="265" />As far as my goals for this round of P90X2, I think most of you know that I&#8217;m working to become the HULK. See my <a href="http://trek2befit.com/p90x2-operation-x2-hulk" target="_blank">OPERATION X2 HULK post by clicking here</a> for the low down.</p><p>The Phase 1 workouts weren&#8217;t conducive to adding lots of muscle mass (since it was tough to use heavy weight during the balance moves you&#8217;re doing), but this phase is perfect for adding size. So during this Phase of P90X2 I&#8217;ll be upping my calories like crazy, and focusing on lower reps and heavier weight.</p><p>During the first week of Phase 2 I was taking in 2,800 calories on the resistance workout days, 2,600 on the cardio days, and 2,300 on the yoga and rest days. However, I saw ZERO weight gain during that week so I decided to shift my strategy a bit.</p><p>If I want to hit my goal of adding at least 10 pounds during P90X2, then I need to up those calories even more so I&#8217;m adding at least 1 or more pounds a week of muscle.</p><p>So&#8230;</p><p>Moving forward I will be keeping things simple and taking in 2,900 calories EVERY day. Taking in that many calories a day isn&#8217;t easy for a dude like me, but I&#8217;m going to suck it up and work to hit that number every day with HEALTHY calories (not junk).</p><p>I&#8217;ll also really need to track my body fat closely to ensure I don&#8217;t start gaining fat. I may even find out that I need to up my calories even MORE. 		}</script><p>YO! Phase 1 of P90X2 is&#8230;Officially&#8230;DONE!!! I am SO fired up to be going into Phase 2! In this blog post I want to let you know how Phase 1 of P90X2 went, and then give you a quick recap on how Chest + Back + Balance went (my first workout of Phase 2).</p><h2>How Did Phase 1 Of P90X2 Go?</h2><p>I&#8217;ll be honest&#8230;the first week of Phase 1 of P90X2 was pretty frustrating. Why? Because I was doing BRAND new moves that involved a TON of balance (a MAJOR weakness of mine). So during the workouts I was doing lots of pausing and rewinding, pausing and rewinding, so I could learn the new moves. As a result of having to do that I felt like I wasn&#8217;t getting as good of a workout as I usually do.<span id="more-290332"></span></p><p><a href="http://trek2befit.com/p90x2-plyocide" target="_blank">P90X2 Plyocide</a> is a good example&#8230;it felt a lot easier then the original P90X plyometrics.</p><p>Then&#8230;</p><p>Week 2 and week 3 rolled around. I new the moves, so I could go through the workouts without having to stop a million times. At that point I was able to go full throttle with the workouts and I felt the TWO in P90X2. My reps started to consistently increase, and I was able to add more weight to the moves that involved weight.</p><p>I also started to see some pretty big improvements in my balance by week 4 and 5. Moves that I could only do 1 or 2 reps like&#8230;</p><ul><li>Balance Kickback on Stability Ball, Mule Kick Burpee in X2 Total Body,</li><li>Renegade Row Lolasana in X2 Balance + Power,</li><li>etc.</li></ul><p>I was now able to do 8, 10, or more reps depending on the move.</p><p>Lastly, wherever I could, I made sure to wear my weighted vest to increase the resistance (I&#8217;m now up to about 47 pounds in my weighted vest).</p><p>So I spent 5 weeks total in Phase 1 of P90X2. The first 2 weeks was my &#8220;unofficial&#8221; start of P90X2&#8230;I was just trying to get the moves down, and then 3 weeks of going full throttle. After 5 weeks I felt pretty comfortable with the moves, so I felt it was time to move on to Phase 2!</p><h2>Chest + Back + Balance &#8211; Day 1, Phase 2</h2><p>All I gotta say after doing Chest + Back + Balance is&#8230;WOW! :-) THIS is my kind of workout! You&#8217;re basically doing a million different varieties of push ups and pull ups. You&#8217;ll be using your med balls and the stability balls A LOT during this workout.</p><p>I&#8217;m not going to give away much in this post on Chest + Back + Balance because I want to do a full separate review on it in another post. BUT&#8230;I did want to let you know that there is a move that involves 4 medicine balls, and 1 that involves 3 medicine balls. Secondly, it makes me realize that my wife and I need a new camera! The quality of the photos isn&#8217;t all that hot.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><h2>So Does P90X2 Really Work? &#8211; P90X2 Results</h2><p>Even though I haven&#8217;t officially finished the program and gotten my final P90X2 results, I think it&#8217;s safe to say YES! :-) With all the <a href="http://trek2befit.com/go/store" target="_blank">Team Beachbody programs and products</a>, I have yet to come across something that doesn&#8217;t live up to what it says it&#8217;s going to do. It&#8217;s pretty simple&#8230;</p><p>FITNESS + NUTRITION + SUPPORT = SUCCESS</p><p>We&#8217;re given ALL of that with P90X2. We even have the added support of our growing community here. So it&#8217;s just a matter of us going to work and using the tools we&#8217;ve been given. You&#8217;ll get added support from me and our community, plus you&#8217;ll need this account to access the numerous calculators to figure your numbers so you can accomplish your goals.</p><h3>What Kind Of P90X2 Results Do I Want?</h3><p>With P90X2 I&#8217;m looking to gain muscle mass (while minimizing any fat gain). I&#8217;d like to gain about 10 to 20 pounds of pure muscle.</p><p>Will I accomplish that? Honestly, not sure. This is my first time doing P90X2, so there&#8217;s lots of unknowns.</p><p>I&#8217;ve done all of the workouts in Phase 1 of P90X2, and those workouts aren&#8217;t really conducive to bulking up. However, it looks like the Phase 2 workouts are more similar to the original P90X where I&#8217;ll be able to heavy up the weight. So as long as I keep my nutrition in line, I am expecting to make some gains during that Phase.</p><p>I&#8217;m not sure what to expect in Phase 3 of P90X2, so I honestly have no clue what kind of size I&#8217;ll add during that Phase.</p><p>Plus, on top of all of the unknowns with the new program, there are lots of unknowns with my body. I&#8217;ve never truly attempted to add the kind of size I&#8217;m looking to add (while doing EVERYTHING I need to do to add the size). So I don&#8217;t know exactly the number of calories and the nutritional proportions that work best for me to bulk up.</p><p>I just have the numbers that the various online calculators have given me. Those are a good starting point, but from there you have to track everything to pinpoint what works best for you.</p><p>REGARDLESS of what my P90X2 results are, I know I&#8217;ll be in better shape then when I started. Plus if anything, I will learn EXACTLY what I need to do for my body so that I do add muscle mass. Today is day 6 of my journey with the <a href="http://trek2befit.com/go/p90x2" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">P90X2 workout</a>. Week 1 is for the most part DONE and in the books. I say &#8220;for the most part&#8221; because tomorrow is rest or X2 Recovery + Mobility, but I&#8217;ll definitely be doing the X2 Recovery + Mobility workout (it&#8217;s an awesome stretching routine).</p><p>So far the X2 Balance + Power workout is my SECOND favorite workout in the P90X2 workout program so far (right behind <a href="http://trek2befit.com/x2-total-body" target="_blank">X2 Total Body</a>). It&#8217;s an ultra challenging workout, but it incorporates lots of resistance training which I love.<span id="more-290324"></span></p><h1>The Basics Of X2 Balance + Power</h1><p>The &#8220;X2 Balance + Power&#8221; workout is about 62 minutes long and as the name implies, it combines balance and strength to give you an insane workout. You&#8217;ll basically be doing resistance exercises that require balance AND have explosive movements.</p><p>So as you can imagine, there are some pretty hard exercises in this <a href="http://trek2befit.com/go/p90x2" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">P90X2 workout</a>.
