Maybe a symbol flushed to the left with the name to the right with the same font, style and size for each word, eurostile comes to mind. Though, I would not use that overused font but something with a clean futuristic look, but not too futuristic, lol!

It is definitely challenging.

Re: Best Web Hosting Options

I've used Startlogic a lot in the past and have grown to really, really despise their service in the last two years. MySQL dbse problems forced me to try to get support. Only to find their tech support was unbelievably terrible. Not just terrible once. Over and over.

There are actually entire websites dedicated to their terribleness.

Every time you create a ticket you will get the same scripted answers. I don't use them anymore, but I do still have one client that uses them (on my foolhardy recommendation...)

I have noticed some changes in their support capabilities in last year that is encouraging. Maybe they are listening to their customers.

One thing I REALLY like about them that I wish all hosts would do is I can directly edit the php.ini file from the control panel if I need to. Allows me to solve a lot of server compatibility problems when using a CMS.

Re: New Artist Gabriel Leake

I must say, the "2Twenty2" logo is very innovative. The concrete style texture serves as a great backdrop that really makes the red pop. The manipulation of the font adds great depth as well. In other words, great job guys! PS. Gabe, more
paintings please. The still life is fantastic.

Re: Mountain Dew Can Logo History

Well you didn't have to shout, but yay!!!

Re: Mountain Dew Can Logo History

I think mountain dew should made better cans. not ugly cans cool cans!!!!!!!!!!!!DOOOOOO NOT SWITCH BACK TO THE ORIGANAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The background is good for an apocalyptic theme. I think the typewriter font gives a good news paper editor feel, just as if the headlines that will occur in the Bible sermons will be fullfulled prophecy in the newspapers.

Or perhaps the Bible pages you included in the background look like old documents such as ealy Bibles printed in the past.

Re: New Pepsi Logo and Identity

Great post, really help me alot. I had no idea Mtn. Dew was even around that long let along a reference to moonshine!

It'd be awesome if they did a homage to the original can. Granted I haven't had a soda (or anything carbonated and caffeinated in over 8 years) I'd love to see them in the super market.

People gave Pepsi a ton of grief over their re-branding but... you know what... it sticks WAY out from the other blog designs. It took me a minute to dig the re-design on the logo but I like it now.

Re: Mountain Dew Can Logo History

I'm still waiting for a response too. You might be right about them being found objects, rather than created objects. By the by, where'd you get the idea for your username (Jimmy Groove)? JimmyGroove is an old comic character than a friend and I came up with in High School, and I'm known as Jimmy Groove on lots of old chat forum posts. Small world. I never would have thought that somebody else would have come up with that exact same name. Funny!

Re: Mountain Dew Can Logo History

so did tom crush his own cans or what - i say he found them that way and just cleaned them up - tom, give us the skinny on the crushed cans.

Re: Mountain Dew Can Logo History

Fascinating. It wasn't ironic. I do think he's got a good site, because it's minimalistic, easily navigated, and successfully puts the content front-and-center. My comments on how he crushed the cans still stands, because of the particular way the cans were crushed. The were all crushed in such a way to keep the important parts of each can's graphics unsullied by crinkles, rust or scratches. I think we'd all agree that usually when you crush a soda can, you can't control which parts of the can become marred by wrinkles or scratches.
If your comment is in re: to the rest of his portfolio, well that's your opinion. But let's stay civil in how we critique other artists' work.

Re: Mountain Dew Can Logo History

Haha
That was a REALLY funny comment!!
