Fuse-atelier designed a pretty awesome house in Abiko, Japan!

Fuse-atelier is no joke as an architectural company, and they’ve designed something quite unique in Abiko, Japan. The house was built for a married couple in their 30′s, and the couple wanted the design to consist of a lot of concrete. They definitely got that! This home is really something else. Fuse-atelier did a lot of funky things with the interior design to create a sense of various distances. It turned out pretty cool, but I’m not sure that I could live in the house in Abiko.

Honestly, after checking the house out, the interior made me a bit dizzy, haha. However, the outside of the home is impeccable! The house in Abiko is definitely the type of house that sticks out like a sore thumb on the block. It’s something to awe at but I wouldn’t recommend living there. On a side note, though, I really need to go out and see Japan! Hopefully by the time I get some money together the whole radiation thing will be long in the past.

Liviana Osti worked wonders with glass to create the Human Heart Carafe!

Is it just me who’s always dreamed of drinking from a glass shaped like a heart? Okay, I might be alone with those ambitions, but I’m sure that soon you, too, will want a human heart carafe to drink out of! Liviana Osti is an Italian designer with some pretty cool ideas, and the human heart carafe is one of them. The carafe isn’t exactly anatomically correct, but who cares?

I wanted to blog about this human heart carafe way back when I was taking anatomy earlier this year while we were actually studying the human heart. In hindsight, learning about the human heart requires way more time than writing about it so I was never able to. Anyway, now I can, and I think this thing is just awesome. The pictures show the human heart carafe filled with wine, and if you didn’t know, wine consumed moderately is actually good for your health! You can increase your HDL (good cholesterol) by a significant amount. That’s even more reason to get this human heart carafe!

I wish I had London Undercover’s Camo Umbrella these past few weeks!

It’s been so rainy in Boston for the past few weeks, and I found myself without a good umbrella. I honestly think it has rained every Tuesday for the past month–I thought the saying was April showers bring May flowers? WHY IS IT RAINING SO MUCH IN MAY?! How dope is the concept for the Natural Wave Radiator Plate?

Designed by Byung-seok You back in 2007, the Natural Wave Radiator Plate was supposed to add another function to your old school radiator. Besides keeping you warm during the cold months, the radiator–along with the ceramic Natural Wave Radiator Plate–is supposed to warm up the things that you love to have warm; e.g. coffee, cookies, etc.

Sadly, Yanko Design never had this thing for sale, and it seems as if Byung-seok You never followed through with his pretty cool idea. I think the idea is pretty dope! I don’t know how many people still have these old-school radiators in their apartments, but I’ve seen then often in Boston. As a poor medical student, I would love ways like this to save money. Imagine how much your NSTAR bill could be reduced if you warmed up your coffee on your radiator. Hmm, well, maybe the bill wouldn’t decrease that much, lol, but it would still be cool to say that you use your radiator as your stove/microwave!

Byung-seok You, I hope you come out of hiding and put this thing into production. For $50, I would definitely try out the Natural Wave Radiator Plate!

What a better day to start blogging again than Mother’s Day? I’ve been “gone” for a bit, and I apologize for the brief hiatus. I put “gone” in quotations because I’ve actually been here the whole time, but I just haven’t had time to get some quality blogging in. You know how it goes: life calls and you HAVE to answer even if it results in putting your favorite hobbies aside.

Anyway, enough of that. It’s Mother’s Day! This holiday always makes me reflect. I know not everyone is privileged enough to have both parents present throughout their lives. I also know that because of that, some people could care less if it’s mother’s day. However, I lost my father back in 1996 yet I still remember him on Father’s Day. So, I encourage everyone with a mother that’s present or not to take time to appreciate them for the good and the bad!

Let’s talk about my mother for a bit, though, shall we? This woman is the most amazing woman I’ve ever encountered. Maybe I’m a bit biased since she gave me life itself. Haha, okay, I am biased but who wouldn’t be? Without her wisdom, I don’t think I’d be half as insightful as I am now. Without her support, I don’t believe I would have made it to medical school. Without her smile, I don’t think I would have been able to overcome a lot of obstacles that a young man encounters as he ages.

I appreciate her more than words can ever express. Here’s to you, Patricia Obionwu. You held everything together even after your husband’s early death, and you made sure that your children grew up comfortably with enough drive to achieve anything they set their minds to. I love you, Mom!
