Amazingly Clever Logo Illusion

Corporate identity is one of the most important things a company should have. It is the soul of a corporation and provides it with visibility and recognizability. The most important part of corporate identity is a logo, designed for immediate recognition of the brand. Good logos are simple with a strong and, usually, well hidden message. Easily recognizable and effective if printed in black and white. Probably one of the best examples is a Fedex logo:

But what make FedEx logo so unique you might ask. If you take a closer look at it, you'll see a hidden arrow between letters "E" and "x".

Another, maybe even greater example is Amazon. This logo was born once Amazon has decided to start selling everything, not only books. Just an arrow that connects letters A and Z and the message is clear: “We are now selling everything from A to Z”

Amazing Trompe l'oeil Art by Solomon Perry

You know there wasn't anything new on tricks and illusion for a while. The main reason is quite simple - I was too lazy to do work. I know there are people who are regularly visiting my blog, cause I got some nice and some not so nice emails, criticizing my slackness. Ok, I'm not gonna bore you anymore; here's something I have received via email and it immediately caught my eye - some fresh trompe l'oeil art from a guy called Solomon Perry.

Solomon Perry is a gifted artist with 27 years of experience in custom work, uniquely with 3D illusions. His other expertise is in the field of 2D/3DAnimation, Sculpting, Web/Graphic Design,Video Editing, Murals, Decorative,and Fine Art Paintings.

I don't know about his web design skills, but his trompe l'oeil kicks arse :)

Parallel Lines - Wavy Optical Illusion

Are the lines straight and parallel or wavy in the middle?

They certainly seem to be wavy, but they're not. So is there something wrong with this picture? No there isn't, as you can see all squares have the same dimensions, therefor all lines are straight and parallel.

Optical Illusion of Expanding Circles

Invisible Keira

This is just something I made while I was playing in PS - an invisible celebrity optical illusion (yea I got kinda bored of making them with black and white lines, lol) so I decided to use the stamp tool. This is Keira Knightley paparazzi shot I found i don't know where... Anyway just take your cursor to the image and you'll see Keira and her buddies.

Levitating Vase - Optical Illusion

This vase has no strings and the image was not manipulated in any photo editors. Then, you think - how does it levitate?

The trick is simple - you need a nice view from below your clean glass table.

"Making the city work together" is obviously just an illusion, at least according to the people who made this poster. At first glance, there's nothing wrong with the poster, but take a better look. How the hell would those clogs suppose to spin? Nohow. Just like their ideas...

Eric Grohe's Mural Illusions

This scene depicts the Ohio & Erie Canal as it passed through Massillon, Ohio, directly behind the building it was painted on. Rather than cover the entire wall with paint, the design of this mural utilizes the existing brick as part of the scene’s architectural setting.

Dominating the main square of town, this once gray, soiled wall and gravel parking lot have become both a dramatic entrance to the city as well as a backdrop for numerous concerts and civic events.

A dingy cement wall once greeted visitors to downtown Massillon, Ohio. It now is a landmark, showcasing the rich history and traditions of one of the most famous high school football teams in America.

The front of the building was later painted to match the architectural details of the mural on the side of the building, making the illusion complete.

Johan Lorbeer's Levitation Trick

"Johan Lorbeer is a German street performer. He became famous in the past few years because of his "Still-Life" Performances, which took place in the public area. His installations includes "Proletarian Mural" and "Tarzan", which are famous in Germany. Several of these performances feature Lorbeer in an apparently impossible position."

"With his still-life performances, this German artist seems to unhinge the laws of gravity. For hours on time, he remains, as a living work of art, in physically impossible positions. Elevated or reduced to the state of a sculpture, he interacts with the bewildered and irritated audience, whose appetite for communication rises as time goes by, often culminating in the wish to touch the artist in his superhuman, angelic appearance in order to participate in his abilities."

Although it all looks incredible and, definitely IS impossible, of course there is a secret behind this trick. What you see as Johoan's arm here is actually his fake arm. You don't see his real arm. This fake arm is used as a bar connected to the wall, for him to rest his real arm on. It's an old trick, but it never fails to amaze!

Jesus Christ Optical Illusion

This one is similar to Old Man and Cow illusion you recently saw on T&I or Marilyn Monroe Head illusion. It shows men carrying a cross, alluding on crucifixion of Jesus Christ at Calvary. If you move away from your monitors, you will see the face of Jesus.

Rod Tryon's 3-D Street Paintings

"Rod Tryon has been street painting for more than 20 years. He visited the inagural “I Madonnari Street Painting Festival” in Santa Barbara, CA in 1987 (the first street painting festival ever held in the U.S.) and knew it was something he had to do.

Tryon and his masterpiece: Koi Pond with Snake for an International Arts Festival in South Carolina - 2008. This 10' x 14' street painting took two and a half days to complete, about 25 hours of work.

He has participated in the Santa Barbara festival 17 times including appearing as the featured artist in 1993. Rod has been a featured artist in numerous other street painting events worldwide including: California (Santa Barbara, San Rafael, San Francisco, San Luis Obispo, San Diego, Valencia, Los Angeles, Napa, Monterey). Oregon (Ashland, Medford, Grants Pass), Utah (Salt Lake City, Provo), Florida (Orlando, Lake Worth), Minnesota (St. Paul), New York (New York City, Binghamton), Ohio (Cincinnati), Pennsylvania (State College), Mexico, Hong Kong and Anquilla in the British West Indies."

M.C. Escher's Impossible Perspective Illusions

His art is enjoyed by millions of people all over the world, as can be seen on the many web sites on the internet. He played with architecture, perspective and impossible spaces. Escher shows us that reality is wondrous, comprehensible and fascinating." What amazes me the most are Escher's beautiful impossible illusions. All of these images are lithographs (a method for printing using a plate or stone with a completely smooth surface).
