Both, your Android phone and your Windows computer must be connect to same wireless network. Lets see how to transfer files using WiFi between Android and Computer.

Step-1

Search “SwiFTP FTP Server” in Android Market app, download and Install it.

Step-2

Run the SwiFTP app from Android.

• You need to setup few entries like “username” and “password” that you have to enter while you need to access Android phone from computer.
• leave the “Port number” as it is or you can change if you getting some error while starting the SwiFTP server. There are some other settings if you want to change it.
• Tap “Save” button when done.

Step-3

Tap “Start” button to start the FTP server, note down the Wifi URL e.g. ftp://192.168.0.104:2121/ and notice the SwiFTP icon is displaying on Notification bar. It recommended to stop the SwiFTP server if you are not using it.

Step-4

Right click on “Computer” icon and select “Map network drive”.

Step-5

Click on the text link “connect to a Web site that you can…” as shown below in screenshot.

This will run a wizard to add a Network location, just click “Next” button.

Step-6

“Choose a custom network location” option and click “Next” button.

Step-7

Type the Wifi URL/FTP address that you have noted in step-3 and click “Next” button.

Step-8

Un-check the “Log on anonymously” check-box, type the username that you have mentioned in SwiFTP settings on Android phone in step-2 and click “Next” button.

Step-9

Enter a name for the location “My Android” or anything you want and click “Next” button.

Step-10

Finally make sure the SwiFTP server is running on Android phone and click the “Finish” button.

Step-11

If the “Open this network location…” check box is checked, this will prompt for username and password that you have mentioned in SwiFTP settings on Android phone in step-2. Type the User name and Password and click “Log On” button.

Step-12

If you enter the correct username and password you will see the contents of your Android phone including SDcard. Now you can transfer files/folders between your computer and Android phone.

If you want to access your Android phone from your computer later, Double click “Computer” icon and here you can see the mapped network drive icon.

Step-1

Open “App Store” app from your iPhone, Search for “Discover” application and install it. Discover is free app for iPhone.

Step-2

Run “Discover” app from your iPhone. You will see the following message, note down the address of your iPhone and tap “OK” button.

Transfer files from Windows/Mac

Step-3

Now on your Windows / Mac computer open up the web browser like IE, Safari, Firefox or Google Chrome and type the address of you iPhone that you have noted down in step-2 and hit the Enter key. If you forgot the address, tap the green light icon in Discover app on your iPhone to see the address.

Step-4

Select the folder either “Public” or “Private”, click on “Add Files” button and select files that you want to transfer from your computer to iPhone.

Step-5

All selected files will be listed in Upload Queue section, click the “Upload all” button to start transferring files from computer to iPhone.

You can see all files that you have transferred will be available on your iPhone and you can view the PDF/Image files right in the “Discover” app.

You can setup some password to protect the data, tap the Settings icon to see some options.

How to Backup SMS on Android.

Step-1

Tap “Market” icon on your Android phone.

Step-2

Tap the “Search” icon, type “SMS Backup and Restore” in the search box and tap the search button.

Step-3

Tap the search result “SMS Backup & Restore”, and install it.

Step-4

When installation finished, tap the “SMS Backup & Restore” icon to run it.

Step-5

Tap “Backup SMS Messages” button, enter file name and Tap “OK” button.

Step-6

This will starts SMS Backup process on Android. Tap the “Close” button when SMS Backup completed. This SMS backup file will stored on your MicroSD card.

How to Restore SMS on Android.

If you already have a SMS backup file created with “SMS Backup & Restore” app then  you can restore it.

Step-1

Transfer the SMS backup file on your Android SDCard, Run “SMS Backup & Restore” app.

Step-2

Tap “Restore SMS Messages” button, choose a SMS backup file that you want to restore and hit “OK” button.

Step-3

This will start restoring the SMS messages on Android, tap “Close” button when finished. Now you have restored your all SMS messages from backup file.

Outlook and Apple Mail does not support a common mail file format so we will use Thunderbird on Windows a free email application to transfer our Outlook emails into Apple Mail or transfer emails from Windows to Mac.

Steps on Windows

Step-1

• First we need to transfer emails from Outlook to Thunderbird and then to Apple Mail
• Download Thunderbird for Windows, install it and Run it.

Step-2

Click on “Tools” menu and select “Import” option.

Step-3

Select the option what you want to import, as i select “Mail” option to import emails from Outlook and click “Next” button.

Step-4

Select “Outlook” option and hit “Next” button. Wait for a while and let the Thunderbird to import emails form Outlook and hit “Finish” button when it done the import process.

Step-5

Now you can see all Outlook emails imported to Thunderbird successfully under “Outlook Import” folder, as shown in the screenshot below. You can see the “Inbox” contains 4 emails.

Step-6

• Now we need to know the location of this “Outlook Import” folder to transfer it from Windows to Mac.
• Right click on the “Outlook Import” folder and select “Properties” option.

Step-7

• See the folder path and open this location.

Copy the folder “Outlook Import.sbd” to a storage device like USB and transfer it to the Mac quickly or See how to share files between Mac and PC.

Steps on Mac

Step-8

Now we have emails folder on Mac that we transfered from PC (Windows) and ready to import emails into the Apple Mail.

Step-9

Run Apple Mail on your Mac, click “File” menu and select “Import Mailboxes…” option.

Step-10

Select “Thunderbird” and hit “Continue” button.

Step-11

Choose the emails folder “Outlook Import.sbd” that we have copied from PC (Windows) and hit the “Choose” button.

Step-12

Hit the “Done” button when import process finished by the Apple Mail.

Step-13

Now you can see all emails are imported into a new “Inbox” folder under the “Import” folder in Apple Mail, so you have successfully imported the Outlook emails into Apple Mail.

Step-14

If you want, you can move these emails to the “Inbox” folder of Mailbox that you have already configured on Apple Mail.

Select the “Inbox” folder under “Import” folder that you have imported, press cmd + a keys form keyboard to select all emails and then click and drag all emails to the Mailbox “Inbox” folder of your Apple Mail.

How to Root Dell Streak

Step-1

Go to “Settings” > “About Phone” and see the Build Number at the bottom.

Step-2

Download one of the following Superboot files according to Build Number you are running on Dell Streak.

• r2 for build 4399 – Download
• r1 for build 3883 – Download

Step-3

Unplug the device from computer, remove the battery and place the battery in again.

Step-4

• Press and hold the Camera button and turn the device ON.
• Select the “fastboot” text on the top right, wait around 10 seconds and then plug the device into the computer using cable.
• Now screen display should change to “FASTBOOT MODE” and now go to the next step, If it doesn’t changed then repeat the steps 3 – 4.

Step-5

Extract superboot zip file to a folder that downloaded in step-2

Step-6

Open the folder where you extract the files and run BAT file according to your OS.

Windows: Double click “install-superboot-windows.bat” file.
Mac: Open Terminal window to the folder containing the extracted files, and type chmod +x install-superboot-mac.sh followed by ./install-superboot-mac.sh
Linux: Open Terminal window to the Folder containing the extracted files, and type chmod +x install-superboot-linux.sh followed by ./install-superboot-linux.sh

First, what you need to jailbreak PS3

• PlayStation 3 (FAT or SLIM) with installed Firmware version 3.41 or above.
• Download Backup Manager and put it on an external USB storage that is FAT32 formatted.
• Need to purchase PS Jailbreak Mod chip from here.

How to Jailbreak PlayStation 3

Step-1

• Make sure there there isn’t any disc in the Blu-ray drive.
• Switch off your PS3 console
  • PS3 Slim : Disconnect the power cord from the back of the PS3 Slim console.
  • PS3 FAT : Use rear switch to switch Off PS3 FAT console.

Step-2

Now connect the PS Jailbreak Mod Chip USB in any USB port of  PS3 console.
Turn ON the PS3 console and then press immediately the Blu-ray drive “Eject” button.
Notice the LED lights on PS Jailbreak Mod Chip USB and there should be two Red and Green LEDs turned ON while loading console.

If Red LED remains ON then there is something wrong and repeat the step1-2 again.

If the Green LED remains ON it means you are good to go for the next step of PS3 Jailbreak process.

Step-3

Now connect the external USB drive that have Backup Manager setup file on it.

Step-4

Navigate to “Game Menu” and select “Install Package Files” option then select the “manager.pkg” file that you have downloaded and copied on external USB drive. This will install the Backup Manager.

Step-5

Once the “Backup Manager” installed successfully then select “Backup Manager” from “Game Menu” and press “X” button to run.

Step-6

After running “Backup Manager” now you are ready to create and backup copy from a PS3 Game DVD. Put a PS3 game DVD in the drive and press “O” to start creating backup copy of game on internal hard disk drive or on the external USB drive.

To start playing game from that backup copy of the game available on your external or internal drive, you need to insert any original game DVD into the drive to just “emulate the loading process”.

Navigate to “Game Menu” and run “Backup Manager” (that you have installed in step-4). Select a game that you have backed up and press the “X” to install it. You can delete previously created back up by pressing “/\”.

This will return to main menu where you can see the game is installed and ready to be played without having game disc in the console drive.

NOTE: While you are playing game through backup of a game, don’t remove the PS Jailbreak Mod Chip USB from the console.

Type vunlock in the search bar.

Tap the search result, tap the “Install” and confirm button to install it.

If you just want to transfer Outlook Express message to Windows Live Mail in Windows 7 or Vista here is a simple manual method to transfer emails.

Step-1

First of all you need to show the hidden files on Windows where the Outlook Express is installed, because the folder contains the Outlook Express emails / messages is hidden in Windows XP.

To Show hidden files/folders in Windows XP.

• Open “My Computer”.
• Click “Tools” menu and select “Folder Options”.
• Click the View tab and find “Show hidden files and folders” option under “Hidden files and folders”.
• Click “OK” button to save settings.

Step-2

Now locate the Outlook Express folder on the following path
C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{identity number}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

Note:
- If Windows on your computer is installed on different Drive instead “C:” then find the “Outlook Express” folder in that drive.
- YourUserName in the above mentioned path is logged in user name.
- {identity number} in the above mentioned path will be different for every user.

Step-3

When you found this “Outlook Express” folder copy and transfer to the computer where the “Windows Live Mail” is installed.

Step-4

Run “Windows Live Mail” on the computer where you want to import the Outlook Express emails. (If you don’t have installed yet, See how to install Windows Live Mail)

Step-5

Setup the same email account in “Windows Live Mail” that you have in “Outlook Express” (You don’t need to do this step if you already have added account in Windows Live Mail).

Step-6

Click on “File” menu > Import > Messages.

Step-7

Select “Microsoft Outlook Express 6″ format and click “Next” button.

Step-8

Click the “Browse” button.

choose the “Outlook Express” folder that copied in Step-3, click “OK” button.

Click “Next” button.

Step-8

Select a specific emails folder like “Inbox” that you would like to import into “Windows Live Mail” or select “All folders” and click “Next”.

Click “Finish” button when you see “Import Complete” message.

Step-9

Click on this tiny separator to view all folders, see screenshot below.

Step-9

All email messages that you have imported into “Windows Live Mail” will be under Storage folders > Imported Folders > Local Folder. Expand these folders and select “Inbox” folder as shown in screenshot.

Step-10

Select an email in Messages list pane and press Ctrl+A to select all messages. Right click and select “Move to folder…” option

Step-11

Select the relevant email folder (e.g. Inbox) under email account name that you have added in step-5 and click “OK” button to move all emails.

You have transferred all your Outlook Express Message into Windows Live Mail successfully.

Untage yourself from a picture on Facebook.

Login to your Facebook account, and select picture notification by clicking on notification icon.

Find your name under the picture and there will be “remove tag” as shown in the screenshot.

Use Bluetooth headset with Mac

Step-1

Click on “Mac” icon and select “System Preference”.

Step-2

Click on “Bluetooth” icon.

Click on “Setup new device” button to find bluetooh devices (make sure bluetooth headset is turned on/discoverable).

Step-3

Select the Bluetooth headset name and click on “Continue” button.

Step-4

If your Bluetooth headset paired successfully then you will this message as shown below. Click “Quit” button.

Step-5

Select the Bluetooh headset and click on settings icon then select appropriate option as show below.

You will see the Bluetooth is connected now showing green tiny icon.

Now play some audio/video and check the Bluetooth headset is working.

So i found Chmox a very useful open source CHM file viewer for Mac.

Download CHM reader for Mac

When you run this dmg file this will asks you accept the agreement and finally creates a drive icon.

Now just double click the CHM file to read in Mac.

Step-1

Tap “Contacts” icon on home screen on your iPhone.

Step-2

Tap and choose a contact from the contacts list to assign a specific ringtone.

Step-3

Tap “ringtone” option to change ringtone.

Step-4

Choose a ringtone from the list and tap the “Save” button. You can also create your own ringtone from a song or music file.

Now every time when you receive call from that contact then the iPhone will ring the specific ringtone that you have applied.

By assigning photos to contacts individually you will see the persons photo on screen while they call you. So, just follow the steps written below to assign photo to individual contact on iPhone 4.

Assign picture to a contact in iPhone 4

Step 1

Tap on “Contacts” on your iPhone 4 home screen and tap the Contact from list to which you want to assign photo.

Step 2

You will see the “Info” screen for that specific contact, so tap on “Edit” button at right upper corner of screen.

Step 3

On upper left corner tap on “add photo”. It will give two options as “Take Photo” and “Choose Photo”. We tap “Choose Photo” to select photo from photo gallery on iPhone 4, you can choose “Take Photo” option if you want to take photo on the spot.

Step 4

Photo Albums will get open, so navigate to your required photo and tap on that for full screen view and tap “Choose” button.

Step 5

Photo will be added to contact now tap “Done” on right upper corner of screen.

Now, when you will receive a call from that specific contact you will see the assigned photo on your iPhone screen. In the same way you may add photo to your favorite or all of your contacts one by one on iPhone 4 when you have some free time.

So, in following we are just writing the method to turn off Network discovery, file and printer sharing and public folder sharing in Windows 7.

Step 1

Click “Start” button, type “advance sharing” in search bar and click on “Manage advanced sharing settings” search result.

Step 2

On following window you will find two network profiles as “Home or Work” and “Public”. Now, you can make similar settings for both networks or only for selected network profile, but we will just expand “Home or Work (current profile)”

Selected the radio buttons followed by these option and at the end click “Save Changes” button at the bottom

• Turn off network discovery
• Turn off file and printer sharing
• Turn off Public folder sharing

How to upload iPhone video to YouTube

Note: Make sure your video is no longer than 15 minutes.

Step-1

Create an account on YouTube if you don’t have one.

Step-2

On your iPhone tap icon while viewing video and then tap “Send to YouTube”.

Step-3

Log in to your YouTube account.

Step-4

Enter video information Title, Desc, etc.

Connect wireless keyboard with iPhone.

Step-1

Tap “Settings” icons on iPhone and choose General > Bluetooth.

Step-2

Tap the “Bluetooth” switch if its OFF already.

Step-3

Turn ON the Apple wireless keyboard by pressing power button.

Step-4

Select the keyboard entery under Devices on iPhone.

Disconnect wireless keyboard from iPhone

On iPhone Tap “Settings” icon and choose General > Bluetooth and tap the keyboard entry under Devices and tap “Forget this Device”.
