We’ve chosen some photos that will look wonderful when printed onto canvas. We thought we would go for an ‘animal’ theme this week, and here are our favourites.

Lee Taylor has come up trumps, and we are showcasing two of his photos, the one above consists of striking colours. Can you imagine this as wall-art!? And the one below. Lee, these would make great Christmas presents.
Bacon sandwich anyone? Our next favourite is this charming photo of pigs by Helen Stanford. If you fancy downloading this for a brochure, or getting it printed into canvas, click here.

OK. Tut Tut. We have let this one slip! ‘Photo of the Week’ was intended to be a weekly feature. Our excuse… we are so busy being creative that it seems this feature may turn out to be a monthly feature! To make up for our slackness, we are pleased to showcase these three beautiful photos.

We had a black and white thing going on, and we love these atmospheric photos. They will make great art for any wall. This first one is taken by Lucan Netley in NewQuay (Photo ID1222). Click here to view this photo and buy it.

Surfers

The second photo of the week is this great shot by Maddy Rogers. These children fishing in Norfolk. We love the fact that the kids seem unaware of the photo being taken – totally natural. Click here to view this photo and buy it.

Looking for fish in Norfolk

Last but by no means least, we have Nicola Evans with this misty (PhotoID835). Click here to view this photo and buy it.

‘Photo of the Week’ is going to be a new feature every week here on the TriggerSnappy blog where we pick our favourite photo. Feel free to suggest any photos you like.

The first photo of the week is this great shot of Worthing Pier. I like the stones in the foreground with the pier in the background, which makes a standard shot of the pier into something more dramatic simply by the fact that the photographer (Brian Spicer) has got down on his knees to get a different angle, one that we don’t normally see.

The fact that the sky is clear blue is also a nice, unusual feature of Worthing

The blue sky also allows for a potential designer to use this photo as they can easily place text on the sky. The photo could also be trimmed in height to create a much thinner photo which could be used as a header image for a web page.

Click here to view this photo and buy it.

The TriggerSnappy photo request service

We are happy to announce that the first photo requests from designers have come trickling into our TriggerSnappy inbox. If you already have images of:

Lewes/Uckfield area,

Worthing town centre,

or views along the coast;

stick them on TriggerSnappy quick! You may just get a sale under your belt.

Otherwise, get snapping!

More tips to get photo library sales

Christmas pics - Here’s another nifty idea … Designers are already working on Christmas editions of magazines, so dig out your winter images and put those on the site too.

Choosing your subject - With the above in mind, you can see how a bit of forward thinking can increase your chances of a sale. Be ahead of the game with seasonal pictures or images that you know will be in demand. One event that is sure to get lots of press is Worthing Birdman on the 5th and 6th of July. You’ll be in photo-heaven with all the weird and wonderful characters aiming to ‘fly’ off Worthing Pier, and there will be lots of post-event press needing images. Don’t miss it!

Keywords - The more keywords you have for your images, the more search-able they are. It’s important to think out of the box and include as many relevant words as you can. For a great example, click here.

Image resolution - Did you know we sell images in three different pixel sizes? Any images for print need to be 300dpi and the largest size images we sell are 3000 pixels wide. If you set your camera to take images at the highest possible resolution, you’ll cover all the sizes and have more chance of selling £10 images. (£5 goes to you).

Take it easy and happy snapping!

Let me tell you the problem with Easterly winds. Yours truly here has to cycle eastwards from Worthing to Hove every day and this is nigh on impossible in a 15mph Easterly head-on wind. I got as far as Shoreham once before I admitted defeat and dragged my aching body and bike onto a train for the rest of the journey.

So this is my perfectly good excuse for not having a cycle snap last week because there simply was … no cycling.

Therefore, I will leave you a lovely photo that I took on my journey a while back during the incredibly stormy weather we all had to endure in February. As I was careering forward at 26mph stormy wind on my back, I had to break quite severely to avoid a couple of beach huts on my path! I love these kinds of pics, normal stuff gone a bit weird. Do you have any similar quite comical snaps of ordinary sites? Post please!

If you live on the South Coast or regularly find yourself down there, there is a good chance you’ve seen me whizz past on my Hybrid Apollo during my daily cycle from work in West Worthing to Hove. You really can’t miss me.

No seriously. The combination of high-viz zip-up wind-breaker, sky-blue helmet and sequined disco shoes really makes me rather visible. I know I look like a cycling advert for health and safety, but at least I’m safe and healthy!

On these daily journeys I have seen some interesting sights, and so i thought I would amuse you with photographic bits and bobs from the route on a weekly basis. My first interesting photo is therefore appropriately myself in aforementioned outfit so that you can have a good old laugh at little old me.

As always I’ll have to rely on my impossibly dated camera phone, which brings me to an important question: any small but magnificent digital cameras I should know about? Bearing in mind that I am a girl who doesn’t always take a handbag everywhere (call myself a girl?) and my pockets are always ludicrously small.

Love to hear your camera suggestions/ fashion tips

It was during a conversation about TriggerSnappy in which someone mentioned to me that he was having trouble finding images of certain cars that a light-bulb switched on in my head ( a rare and joyous occasion!) and I almost visibly lit up with the following inspired idea: An image request service on TriggerSnappy!

For designers it means you can ‘order’ exactly the photos you are looking for and for photographers it means the challenge of working to a brief and more importantly, a greater chance of selling your snaps. You might enjoy the challenge of being in competition with other photographers, or it might just help to broaden your subject matter and portfolio…

What do you think? A no brainer? Comments please!

Whilst enjoying my daily read of the Metro on my commute to work yesterday, I discovered that The Museum of London have been holding a competition to capture London in different weather conditions as part of its ‘Weather Permitting: London’s changing climate’ display. Ten photos have been short-listed, and I must say, they are stunning. Go check them out here.

Having lived on the South coast of England for seven years now, I continue to be amazed at the ever-changing sea-state and skyline and the ability for the weather here to resemble something out of ‘The Day After tomorrow’, followed five minutes later by the most glorious sunshine ever experienced. With climate change being such a ‘hot topic’ and snowmen popping up everywhere in March, this certainly seems like a good subject to have a go with! Perhaps some of you already have equally stunning shots of climate-driven scenery? I’d love to see them!

Here are some of my shots taken over the years, though admittedly with a rather dated camera phone so don’t get too excited …
