Lets take a closer look at some diseases and their inflammatory connection.

Cancer: in an article entitled “Chronic Inflammation and Cancer,” by Emily Shacter, PhD published in Oncology, she sums up her findings thus:

A substantial body of evidence supports the conclusion that chronic inflammation can predispose an individual to cancer, as demonstrated by the association between chronic inflammatory bowel diseases and the increased risk of colon carcinoma. Chronic inflammation is caused by a variety of factors, including bacterial, viral, and parasitic infections, chemical irritants, and nondigestible particles. The longer the inflammation persists, the higher the risk of associated carcinogenesis. This review describes some of the underlying causes of the association between chronic inflammation and cancer. Inflammatory mediators contribute to neoplasia by inducing proneoplastic mutations, adaptive responses, resistance to apoptosis, and environmental changes such as stimulation of angiogenesis. All these changes confer a survival advantage to a susceptible cell. In this article, we discuss the contribution of reactive oxygen and nitrogen intermediates, prostaglandins, and inflammatory cytokines to carcinogenesis. A thorough understanding of the molecular basis of inflammation-associated neoplasia and progression can lead to novel approaches to the prevention and treatment of cancer. Aging: why do people age? One reason is the inflammatory process. This is why you see people who appear much older than their age, and you see people who look much younger than their age. One of them suffers from chronic inflammation.

Macular Degeneration: JAMA, in Feb of 2004 linked this one to inflammation.

Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome: we still don’t know which came first, the problem or the inflammation, but these two are often found together. In her article “Cytokine and other immunological markers in CFS,” Dr Nancy Klimas believed that the unusual amounts of cytokines might lead to hormonal imbalances. Multiple Sclerosis: this is a tough one. MS has been described as an inflammatory disease of the central nervous system. According to Professor V Hugh Perry, the macrophage population in MS brains are much more activated than in others, and that inflammations can be further amplified with age, injuries, infections, and surgeries. When I heard about this opportunity to build a valid business without having to sell products and without having to build a downline. It didn't sound possible. I had lots of questions but the first one was....HOW?

The most basic answers are...cooperative marketing and selling and backend follow up by TriVita.

TriVita Business Affiliates don't have to sell product because TriVita does the selling. They run infomercials on television and radio every day. In fact, one of their infomercials is one of the all time longest running infomercials, the Sublingual B-12 infomercial has been running for over 9 years and has been instrumental in the sales of over 11 million boxes of the Sublingual B-12. They do massive print and internet advertising. And gain 500-1000 customers daily.

After they get the customers, that's where the cooperative marketing concept comes in and where we can begin building a business. Any home business has tremendous tax advantages such as claiming your home office as a deduction but TriVita has a hidden tax benefit that is amazing.

With TriVita the vast majority of your business expense is in the cooperative marketing aspect of their business model. Basically, that means that you are cooperating with TriVita by reimbursing them their advertising costs. It takes them about $50 in advertising fto attain one customer so for your reimbursement of that $50, you acquire the rights to a percentage of the profits from that customer for life.

What this means in relation to your taxes is that almost all of your business expense is spent on advertising. Which is a deductible expense!!

Remember, with TriVita you're not buying leads and your buying a minimum of product, nothing for resale. You are just buying the commission rights to customers (through the reimbursement of the cost of advertising).

You do need an accountant who understands how this works and who understands all of the tax advantages of home-based businesses.

TriVita, Scam or Legitimate Opportunity?

One of the hallmarks of a scam is that they make unbelievable and untrue, usually fantastic claims of how much money can be made in a very short period of time with little or no effort. Does TriVita make such claims?

On the contrary, I've heard dozens of times from TriVita business affiliates that TriVita is not get rich quick. And I've read reports from new affiliates that they were contacted by TriVita after becoming a member just to make sure that nobody made any promises of earnings and that they understood what they were getting into.

TriVita affiliates teach, this is not an investment, if you become an affiliate, you are creating your own business that you will have to work and build if you want to grow a substantial residual income. Of course, since it is your business; you can work slow or you can just acquire customers through cooperative marketing and grow it that way; but you are going to have to devote your time and/or your money and/or your talent to grow your business.

And nobody at TriVita claims you can be making millions of dollars in a year or two.

All of that being said, here is one of the claims found here on the TriVita website:

Looking into TriVita's Sonoran Bloom, Nopalea

TriVita hasn't released a lot of info yet on the Sonoran Bloom line, so I've been reading what I can just on the Nopal Cactus and the multitude of health benefits attributed to these cacti from the Sonoran Desert.

Now, remember, this information is not from TriVita nor do I know yet that these qualities apply to the Trivita Sonoran Bloom line, or the announced products (Opuntia Liquid Concentrate and Streptocantha topical gel)

These are just health benefits credited to the Nopalea (Prickly Pear) Cactus by others--and I'm too excited to wait for more details from TriVita.

Ok, so disclaimers aside, these are some of the health benefits claimed by others for this desert plant.

reduction of hyperglycemia(high blood sugar)
reduction of LDL cholesterol and triglyceride levels
treatment of atherosclerosis(cardiovascular inflammation causing plaque in blood vessels
colon cleansing
stimulates the healing of gastric ulcers and gastrointestinal inflammation

Remember, I don't know what the Sonoran Bloom line by TriVita will be designed to accomplish on our road to health and wellness, but just the possibilities are very exciting to me!!

And once again, I think that if TriVita was a scam, they wouldn't have to go to the extreme lengths of development and research on every new product. I understand the Sonoran Bloom line has been in development and testing for years.

I'm listening right now to a TriVita Conference call....(The team I'm on has 7 conference calls weekly). On this particular call a new member spoke who just joined last month. His name is Anthony and he's from New Jersey. He's already a 4star Business Affiliate and He said he already has about 1500 customers in his organization.

1500 customers!! in ONE month!!

One of the things that reassures me that TriVita is not a scam is the scientifically based and doctor developed products.

And a great example of this is in the two products that I have noticed are particularly beneficial for diabetics.

TriVita Scam Research and the BBB(Better Business Bureau)

I'm sure most everyone is aware of the Better Business Bureau, basically it is a consumer advocacy company who rates companies based on their response to consumer complaints and at times acts as an intermediary for resolution of those complaints. For someone looking to do business with a company of any kind, the BBB is an invaluable tool. If you are looking at a home-based business and you are hearing all the hype but want a more objective evaluation, the BBB is one place to go.

For example, the last home-based business I was involved in prior to looking at TriVita has a rating of F with the BBB. In the last 36 months they've had 1763 complaints.....I should have paid better attention!

Another business I see promoted on the internet alot is GDI(Global Domains, Inc.). They are not a member of the BBB and have a rating of F. Doesn't inspire confidence.

In contrast, WalMart has had 197 complaints in the last 36 months and based on resolution of the complaints has a rating of A+. To me, it looks like they pay attention to customer satisfaction.

Sears has had 15,681 compaints in the last 36 months and is rated Satifactory.

Ok, how about TriVita? In the last 36 months, TriVita has had 5 complaints with the BBB and all 5 have been resolved. They have a rating of A- and have been an accredited member of the BBB since February, 2004.

Furthermore, Ellison Media (parent company of TriVita) has been an accredited member of the BBB since October, 1997 and has a rating of A+.

Is TriVita a scam? Not according to anything I've found with the Better Business Bureau.

I am amazed at how much junk mail I get every single day from people promising to make me rich..............like yesterday!

I HATE those scams!!!
.....I've been scammed once or twice myself......they just make it sound soooooooo good!

So how does Trivita compare to all the bogus promises of wealth and prosperity with no effort and no investment?

Don't look at this company if you are looking to get rich quick...you won't get rich quick. To me that's a good thing....I don't want someone making me promises that seem too good to be true.

Don't look at Trivita if you want to build a business with no effort.....you are going to have to invest some of your time and some of your energy and some of your money. Well at least, you will earn more if you put more into your business. Some people are satisfied to just invest money and let Trivita do the rest...it works, it's just slower and less profitable. It's your business, you decide.

Don't look at this company if you want to direct sell....the business affiliates in this company do not have to sell the products. (great products, over 60 of them, but we don't sell them). Trivita sells their products through Television infomercials, radio, and print advertising... and they follow up with the customers too.

With Trivita you can join today and have customers tomorrow and you never have to tell another soul about this opportunity to make a good income. In other words, it's not an MLM. It's a customer based business, not an affiliate based business. Probably more to the point to anyone reading this blog....Can you make money with Trivita or Can anyone make money with Trivita?

Well, I'm certain nobody is going to get rich quick with Trivita. In fact, the Trivita websites and phone conferences and recorded calls are very clear on the point that this is not a method to get rich quick.

I'm thinking that anyone can make money with Trivita if they are willing to invest in their future. You've heard that it takes money to make money. With Trivita you will have to invest a certain amount of money....how much money, time and effort you invest in your Trivita business will directly impact how much money you make in return. I mean, doesn't that make sense? Isn't that the way it is with any real business?

With Trivita, you have a choice. There are different ways to make money. Maybe all you want to put into your business is money....that will work. Maybe you want to invest minimal capital and instead want to build your business through introducing others to the business or to the products......It's your business; you decide.

The difference here is the business model of Trivita is much stronger than what you find in any other home-based business model. Trivita is a customer based business. This is not like any other home-based business or like any multi-level marketing or network marketing format I've found. And it is this difference which makes it possible for anyone to make money with Trivita.

Is TriVita a SCAM???

I'm a skeptic. In my opinion, you've got to be if you are looking to find a home-based business. The scams are EVERYWHERE!! I get solicitations in my in-box daily for the latest get-rich-quick scheme/scam. "Earn $20,000 in 2 days, guaranteed! No Risk!" I wonder why I'm skeptical?

So, whenever I begin to look at a new opportunity I've heard about, I assume it's a scam or a pyramid scheme or the products are worthless or they'll be out of business in a month or two. I've seen these things and more happen too many times and I've been ripped off and lied to and worse. Probably anyone who is looking at home-based businesses has had the same experiences. And my first move is to look for proof of the scam. I ask myself, what's the catch and I begin with internet searches. And that's what I did with TriVita. I encourage you to do the same. Look for yourself and see what you can find! This blog is about my "due diligence" in researching this opportunity.

I did searches linking the word trivita with words like scam, beware, rip-off. Then I did searches using variations on scam with Sublingual B-12 and Super Sublingual B-12, Adaptogen 10 Plus, Nutrafruits and Leanology which I believe are their top selling products. I wanted to know if people who bought their products liked them or hated them. Did they think they worked? Did they send them back for a refund? I wanted to know if people complained about getting ripped off or about some other aspect of customer service. I found no complaints about Trivita. People seem to love the products and many have apparently been using Sublingual B-12 for years and talk glowingly about the health and wellness benefits they've experienced. Additionally, the products are doctor developed and many of them are backed up by third-party research.

Then I researched them with the Better Business Bureau or BBB. How many complaints? Were they settled satisfactorily? What type of issues? Are they members of the BBB? TriVita is a member of the Better Business Bureau and has very few complaints.

I also did searches on the founder, Michael Ellison and the Parent Company, Ellison Media. I wanted to know how long Trivita and Ellison Media have been in business and I wanted to know as much as I could find out about Michael Ellison and his son, Marcus Ellison who is company vice-president. Are these people ethical? I found no suggestions that these men are anything but ethical, legitimate business men. In fact Michael Ellison apparently founded this company in response to his own health crisis and a desire to help others to live healthier and gain wealth. The "tri" in trivita is for three aspects of health and wellness (physical, mental and spiritual) and he has written a book called "10 Keys to Creating Health and Wellness" which promotes the foundational values of this company. Ellison Media has been in business for over 35 years and Trivita has been in business for 9 years. I was very pleased to find that these are not Start Up companies! I found no hints of scandal.

I went to scam watchdog type sites to see if there were threads about trivita. Then I actually started a thread on Scam.com asking for anyone to tell me if they had been ripped off by Trivita. These guys love to trash illegitimate business opportunities, network marketing and mlm type home-based businesses. I wanted them to tell me whatever they had found or could find negative about this company, products, opportunity, etc. The responses were helpful in their skepticism and in guidance toward other business analysis tools, they were skeptical of the claims of Trivita as I expected, but nobody told me that Trivita is a scam or that they have been ripped off by Michael Ellison or that the products are just more snake oil. In fact, I believe that I was able to find a satisfactory answer to every objection and question they raised. Read it for yourself!

Finally, I wanted to analyze THE MAJOR QUESTION and the point to all my research: Can I make money with Trivita? I'll discuss this in my next post.....

Digging for Gold

I'm convinced there must be a way to escape the rat race. I'm scouring the web looking for gold. Mostly I'm finding pyrite(fool's gold). I've tried several Network Marketing Businesses. I've been scammed, I've been misled, I've failed on my own because I just didn' t want to do what they said it took to succeed.

I've owned my own brick and mortar businesses and worked those 7 day weeks. I've made money that way but it wasn't worth it to me to spend that much time and energy working.

So now I'm back to the 9 to 5, but looking for a way out. And I'm convinced....There is a way out for me.

I'm thinking I may have found it....
