Image from daylife Last season freshman Megan Ohai started 24 games and played in all 25 for the Trojans NCAA Championship team. She was second on the USC scoring list with 6 goals and five assists. Virginia head coach Al Groh, a former NFL assistant, on USC: "This is the most talented college football team I've seen since I had to do pre-draft work on the Florida State teams of the mid- to late-1990s." From Brian Center, Executive Director of A Better LA: On August 2, we are hosting a "March for Kids" from 10 to noon at the Coliseum. The goal is to bring people together from all over Los Angeles to demonstrate unity and support for what is going on in our inner-cities, educate people about the great work that is going on to reduce violence, and express our hopes for the future. It should be a very nice event, and help build on Pete's vision to create a movement around what we are doing. Our thought is that this could become an annual event that continues to grow until we are filling the coliseum. The March will be fairly short -- around about 1/2 of the Coliseum, and onto the field where there will be speeches and music. We need volunteers to be at tables, guide the crowd and press, hand out water and snacks, keep communication flowing, make sure parking is going well, taking care of VIPs and more. Just like a used car salesman, 5-star Notre Dame recruit Cierre Wood comes '09 to the Irish with a guarantee. This old jalopy may have broken down last year. It may have crashed and burned. But now it's been rebuilt. There's more under the hood than there was before. This hunk-o-junk is the car of the future...and it will out perform a Ferari. Guaranteed. "We are going to be good and Notre Dame football will be back. And I guarantee that we will beat USC the next three years." True, Notre Dame should have a revamped offensive line after landing what is shaping up to be a stellar '09 recruiting class. That should give Wood a good chance to show off his skills. But a three year guarantee? I won't even do that for the Trojans. And USC is actually...good.

Palmer "Cannot Stand" Ohio State

He may be Ohio's favorite quarterback, but there's no question where Carson Palmer's hate...er...heart lies. The former Trojan and Heisman trophy winner is not going to hold his tongue when it comes to the upcoming USC-Ohio State match up, no matter where he plays pro ball. Carson Palmer recentlty told Los Angeles based KLAC what he really thinks of Ohio State. I don't watch what I say. I cannot stand the Buckeyes and having to live in Ohio and hear those people talk about their team, it drives me absolutely nuts...I just can’t wait for this game to get here so they can come to the Coliseum and experience L.A. and get an old fashioned, Pac 10 butt-whooping and go back to the Big Ten. Nice way to represent. Fight on!

Trojan DePo: The '08 X-Factors

The way I see it, no matter how you break it down, next season is going to come down to two factors: (1) The competency of the offensive line, and (2) The accuracy of Mark Sanchez. The rest of everything is not too much to worry about. USC has as much depth at tailback as any team in the nation and the talent at receiver to boot (if Turner, Hazelton, Williams, Ausberry or RoJo would just step up). The D-line is battle tested, the linebacker corps are probably the best in the ol' US-of-A and the defensive backfield...fuggedaboudit. But while USC has been landing a top-3 placement in the barrage of pre-season media polls, the team has some grave areas for concern. Keep your arms and legs inside the vehicle at all times. You're about to enter the Trojan DePo.

Ex-Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn and his lawyers have one simple message for you: Brady is NOT gay! So those pictures you may have seen circulating the internet and headlining on TMZ.com, the shirtless Brady promoting gay-dating websites?...Those photos were used without his permission. He just wants you to know that. As quoted from TMZ: NFL baller Brady Quinn wants to make one thing clear: He'll huddle up with sweaty, muscular men -- he just won't date 'em. No matter what a gay dating website is leading people to believe. It does beg the question, why Brady? Why does Quinn keep finding himself in compromising situations regarding sexual-orientation? Matt Barkley Earns Top HS Honor

The Gatorade prep athlete awards are given to the nation's top male and female athlete, chosen from among the 12 Gatorade National Players of the Year honored during the high school athletic season. Barkley of Mater Dei HS shared the honor with track & field athlete of the year Chanelle Price (Easton Area HS/Easton, Pa.). The awards were attended by USC pro athletes and past winners including Matt Leinart ('01 California Football Player of the Year) and Allyson Felix ('03 National Track & Field Athlete of the Year & '03 Athlete of the Year) as well as Portland's Greg Oden ('05 & '06 National Basketball Player of the Year/ '06 Gatorade Athlete of the Year), the Sparks' Candace Parker ('03/'04 National Basketball Player of the Year/'04 Gatorade Athlete of the Year), and soccer goddess Mia Hamm. Barkley plays host to some sick past season stats including 323.6 yards per game, a QB rating of 121, 35 touchdowns (97 yard long) to only 9 interceptions, 3560 yards on the season with .626 completion.

Coliseum on September 13 in what will be the lowest-scoring game of the season for both teams. Player, Coach Bob Zuber Passes On

USC's baseball team formed eight years after the university itself in 1888. Now with 12 baseball national championships, USC has more collegiate titles in the sport than any other university by a large margin. But it wasn't always that way. In fact, it took 60 years for USC to win it's first national championship. Yes, long before USC baseball had a dozen national championships...they only had one. The year was 1948 and Bob Zuber was a catcher on the USC team. And who did he defeat in the championship against Yale? Only first baseman, and 41st President George H. Bush. As quoted by CSTV.com, During the championship game against Yale (against first baseman and future President George H. Bush), he made the first out of a game-ending triple play that clinched the title for the Trojans. He led the Trojans in 1948 with a .407 batting average and was a three-time All-CIBA and Pacific Coast Conference selection (1948-50). After a couple years playing professionally, Zuber moved into the coaching side of the game. He returned to USC as an assistant coach under Rod Dedeaux in 1975 and 1976. His '75 team went 42-14-1 and won the Pac-8 championship.

OJ Mayo doesn't seem to be having any problems adjusting to the pace of the NBA summer league. He's averaging 18.5 points per game and about 4 rebounds throughout the Grizzlies first four match-ups. Williams Signs $2-Mil Contract

According to a past Scout interview Thomas Williams' most prized possession is a bible, he doesn't watch TV and his favorite food is a Double Western Bacon Cheeseburger from Carl’s Jr. Now USC's most inspirational player has yet another reason to be inspired. Two million other reasons really. The soft-spoken, reserve linebacker/special teamsman wasn't certain he was going to be drafted at all. While at USC Williams only started 14 games, although he found his niche excelling on special teams. It was those skills the Jacksonville Jaguars sought to pick up when they selected Williams in the 5th round of the draft. Now it is reported by USA Today that the Jaguars have signed Williams to the tune of nearly two million dollars. That's a lot of cheeseburgers.
