Spring Hill Golf Club in FULL SWING!

It’s nice to hear that the Spring Hill Golf Club is OPEN and running under new management headed by Roger Thompson, a native of Ohio after it abruptly closed without notice last year. Roger Thompson’s crew has been busy renovating the grounds and clubhouse in anticipation of the Re-opening of the public golf course known for it’s par 3 exceptional length which makes for challenging golf experience. This public golf course includes a clubhouse, restaurant/bar and pro-shop. It is located in the heart of Spring Hill just off Spring Hill Drive at 12079 Coronado Drive.

Cavalia was Amazing – Horselovers this is a Must!

My husband and I went to see Cavalia which I would dub the “Horse Whisperer” show. It was just amazing. The horses sort of roam free unbridled while there are very talented show perople doing all kinds of acrobats. It feels like they are right in the audience when they swing into the audience. There is a certain tranquility with this amazing woman who sings very softly – it is a show that is very hard to describe and very different from anything you will see.

There are also amazing stunts with the horses that are just beautiful. The most beautiful thing I took home was the connection between the horses and the people who were with them. Thei way they touch their horses and the way they look at them showed true admiration and love of the horses.

After the show we went into the stables (I think this costs more) and they have big beautiful, clean stalls and they are gorgeous.

This is a once in a lifetime type show and if you can go, I highly recommend it. I can’t really describe it because it is so different from anything I have seen. It is not a circus show, it is not a play with a story, but it is unique and I was in total awe!

Airfest 2010 @ MacDill Air Force Base

It’s that time of year again. MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida will be putting on another air show. The show will run Saturday, March 20th and Sunday, March 21st. The gates open at 8:00 am. and close at 5:00 pm. The Blue Angels will be the last show of the day, it begins at 3:00 pm. In between that time there will be plenty of food and shows including, radio controlled model aircraft demos, a parachute jump with the American Flag, during the National Anthem. A static line parachute jump. Aircraft demonstrations will include KC-135, C-17, T-6, B-25, C-54, P-51, just to name a few. Hopefully, we will get lucky and see the Stealth Bomber do a fly over. Unfortunately, they can’t say which day or if that is going to happen. Believe me, we have asked every year that we go. We always manage to see it though. Make sure while you are out there to drink lots of water and bring hats, sunglasses and earplugs. The tarmac gets very hot. Admission is always free. I would check the website to find out what is allowed on the base. You can’t take coolers any more. The web site is: www.macdill-airfest.com . It will be a wonderful weekend at the air show. Cavalia is at the Tampa Fairgrounds

I am so excited – I am going t6o see Cavalia today. It is a Cirque du Soleil-type show but with horses. The word “Cavalia” is really not a word but is used to describe the magical connection between man and horse.

It is at the Tampa Fairgrounds off I-4. There are only 11 shows.

There are 12 breeds of horses from all over the workd and include Arabians, quater horses and Appaloosas and others. Even though it is not affiliated with Cirque du Soleil, the creater was Normand Latourelle, co-founder of Cirque. It is headquartered in Montreal. Each horse has a part and the trainers use body language and voice.

I will let you know tomorrow how it was. I am allergic to horses so, hopefully, I will not have an asthma attack. I will take some allergy medicine ahead of time. I really want to see the show!

A Foreclosure Home Left the Homeowner with a Surprise

Buyers of foreclosure homes know they need to clean it up and it is “as is,” but can you imagine the surprise when the buyer of a New Port Richey home went in to clean it up and found a snake over 6′ long in a cage!! I think that would have made me a bit nervous. Evidently the previous owner had snake cages all over and snakeskins in the house. That probably would not have been my pick of a home. The poor snake was in bad health and Animal Services removed it.

No one knows what lurks behind and under stuff left! Beware!

Why Are The Homes in Spring Hill Florida Disappearing?

Have you heard Elgin Boulevard (located in Spring Hill Florida) is being widened from Mariner Blvd East to Village Van Gogh. The homes on the North side of Elgin Blvd. are either being moved or demolished to make room for the new widened highway to accommodate the increased traffic flow in that immediate area.

Every day after I take my kids to school at Challenger K8, I drive past the homes on Elgin Blvd. and see them disappearing one by one and I wonder where are they moving them to? The homes are being unearthed and moved to other areas in Spring Hill, Brooksville and Crystal River. Taylor Bingham was one of the winning bids at $1 per home and has A-Team Structural Moving Engineers hauling them to their new location in Citrus County. By law, they have to do this at night with a law enforcement escort and takes approximately 4 hours at a cost of $30-$35,000. Taylor Bingham plans on renovating the homes once they reach their destination before renting them out.

Atlas LLC purchased 8 of the remaining homes at $1 per home and plans to relocate them locally and put them up for sale. Many of the remaining homes will be demolished in making way for the widening.

The widening could begin sometime this year if all goes well. If you are in the area of Elgin Blvd, take a drive by and see this amazing transition. Spring Hill is located in Hernando County on the Central West Coast of Florida. Many new businesses here and the VERY affordable home prices are attracting many buyers looking for that special place to call “home”.

First Month Foreclosures Are Down

Good News – this is the first month in a long time that the percent of foreclosures has dropped. That is a sign that we are starting to recover from this mess!
Remember that you have to be in contract by April 30th to take advantage of the tax credits. You probably won’t see such a great deal again – if you are on the fence about taking a mortgage or selling your home and upgrading, you need to realize this may not come around for a long time. If you are not sure you would qualify for a mortgage, call someone – it doesn’t cost you a penny and it is a quick phone call.
Don’t put it off – you might be sorry!

Strawberry Shop’n Stroll & Health Fair, New Port Richey

For the second time, a bald eagle is released into the wild near Brooksville, Florida

After recovering at The Audubon Center for Birds of Prey in Maitland, Florida.
For the second time in her 19 years, Florida Bald Eagle # 512 was released into the wild near Brooksville. She was released into Ahhochee Hill Audubon Sanctuary, a preserve just outside Brooksville on Wednesday afternoon. The eagle has spent the past three months recovering from injuries she received in a fight protecting her nest in Palm Harbor. A younger female eagle pinned her to the ground with her talons and plucked the feathers from her chest. It was near this same area that she was released back into the wild in 1998 after she had been shot with a bullet through her leg and wing two years earlier in Palm Harbor. It is amazing she flew over 50 miles to find her way home. Hopefully she will make her nest in the Hernando County area, but, she found her way home before. I am sure she will again.
