[TrueNuff] Technical Difficulties

Some of the Nuffies (our hardcore peeps) might have noticed the forums were down for the last couple days. Don't worry, we were jonesin' as much as you were. The problem was with some server hardware and it's been temporarily fixed by our host who is working to permanently resolve the issue.

I've also been dealing with some hardware problems of my own. Two of my hard drives burnt out on my computer, which I call THE DEATHSTAR. Many bothan porn files were lost. I'm looking into ancient Jedi rituals to reclaim the lost data but decided to purchase two new drives to get THE DEATHSTAR fully operational to "destroy planets" with it's powerful "lasers" - pew pew!

On the content side of things we're back in the saddle and ready to rock & roll - there's a sketch filming this weekend and we're firing up comic meetings next week - I'm not making any promises, or dates, regarding new content so y'all know what to do.

[TrueNuff] Eight Beer Poppers Left!

The Beer Poppers have become our most successful merchandise item to date! We only have eight left and that's not a cheap ploy to try and get you to buy more poppers as we've already started the process on ordering a second batch so sleep easy!

We're stoked, you guys really "brought it" on these poppers. A few of the Nuffies (TrueNuff Forum Members) suggested we offer a 10-pack Beer Popper buying option. The Crew & I thought the nuffies were crazy and they proved us right since the 10 pack option has been selling. We make less profit on the 10 pack but we don't mind because you guys have been showing your friends how cool these Beer Popper gadgets are and that gets TrueNuff "out there" and ultimately kicks a lot of ass - thanks guys!

Part of my home office is still occupied by a hundred shirts or so. I don't think you guys are the blame for the slow sales but I don't think we are either. The Crew & I have racked our brains (our brains are usually filled with "racks" too) and we think internet shirt market is kind of saturated right now (that and the economy ate shit). Luckily the shirt market is saturated with crappy pieces of shirt so we'll just keep creating our high quality silk screened shirts and if anything we'll have more to wear in our video updates.

We're basically not gonna sweat it anymore if stuff doesn't sell. As long as our expenses continue to be paid by our "day jobs" we won't stop making content for you guys. If we did stop making content because of poor shirt sales then it'd be obvious we only do this for the money and if that were the case we'd be hoookers.

...then again maybe we should try being hookers, it seems a hell of a lot more profitable

[TrueNuff] We're Not As Big As You Think

From time to time I get people asking me "dude, TrueNuff is huge – do you do this for a living." Firstly we're really not that big, and secondly the sad truth is no, we don't do this for a living.

We devote a large portion of our time to these projects but it's always been a labor of love. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to do this for a living or even earn enough from these projects to qualify as a part-time job but currently they don't generate nearly enough income to make that a reality.

Yes we run advertisements on our websites but we're literally making pennies a day. Due to the economy we just lost a sponsor that was kicking us $40 a month for some sponsor links at the bottom of our web pages. Also due to the economy I lost my full time contract job so I'm back to freelancing. Freelancing is going great and now I've got the flexibility to invest time in the TrueNuff projects and make them grow (new comics, new videos & a few new side projects).

Obviously it's not the money that drives us (it can't be, it's not there) and I don't want this post to sound like an outright nag for money. However, if/when you do buy a beer popper, buy a shirt, buy a comic production drawing, donate to the comic or anything of that nature you will be directly fueling our passion and helping TrueNuff grow as a whole.

If you can't afford any monetary contributions, don't worry, you can still help us out. Post to our forums, comment on our YouTube, follow & tweet to our twitters, add our Facebook pages, or simply spread the word and tell your friends face to face (social networking 1.0) about our comics and videos. That still shows us you care and it will still grow the projects we love to work on and hopefully you love to laugh at.

If you still can't do any of the above that then just subscribe (it's free and we don't spam), keep watching videos and reading comics and keep laughing - because that'll still make us happy

Basically we're like Google but with funny and no money.

We've also converted all our prices in our shop a single price shipping included regardless of where in the world you order from. We had tons of different options before but we think it was making things confusing so we're hoping this is an elegant solution for a more civilized age.

[TrueNuff] Interview: LuvChat

Moze, myself (and maybe Brando or Rob) will be featured on LuvChat a live webcam powered interview show on YouTube.

The interview will be streamed live this Thursday July 30th, 2009 @ 8PM - 10 PM PST at the LuvChat website so set your watches, magic decoder rings or whatever you need to do if you want to see our ugly mugs talk and squak. We'll do a countdown as we approach the event on our Twitter & Facebook pages pages so you can't say we didn't do anything for you - geeze. The interview will be semi-interactive, we'll be taking calls and crap. They have a call in number at the site so get ready!

If you can't make it the show will end up on the LuvChat archives at YouTube. Also if you're an Aussie (we a few "Aussie Acolytes" in the forums) and it's too late or early for you we're working on another interview that will better match your timezone - more details on that later!

[TN TV!] TrueNuff on TV thanks to TellyTopia!

We've been getting notifications that TrueNuff.tv videos are making it onto television thanks to TellyTopia & i2TV! They bring internet videos to TV using a cable and IPTV network.

If you live in any of their service areas and happen to sub to their services keep an eye out for Bigger Man & Waiter - Traditional Pork Roast on the picture box. They seem to favor our mini's but hopefully one day they'll feature our longer sketches. TellyTopia was also kind enough to feature us in a press release they released a couple days ago.

We're working on a TV show called "TrueNuff Internet" - okay, not really.

[TrueNuff] Facebook Fan Profiles & Social Media Cleanup

Our Facebook Group has gotten the boot, we're now bumpin' Facebook fanpages - they're actually useful.

These somewhat-new "Facebook Fanpages" allow us to interact with you guys better.

TrueNuff - community updates, blogs and merchandise updates.
TrueNuff.tv - our video related updates.
TrueNuff Comic - comic related updates, I've been posting rough sketches of comics currently in progress.

They let us post status updates and notifications that you guys can post comments to on the spot. The notifications are easier to get out because it pulls specially selected tweets from our twitter accounts. So it's easier for us to update you guys when we release content and it's easier for you to give us comments and feedback on the spot. It's win/win - high fives and hand jobs all around!

While we've been strengthening our efforts on Facebook we're also pulling away from the less effective websites, such as Myspace & Friendster. Myspace has lots of people, but it also have many of bots, spammers, and junk in general. Myspace is the herpes of the internet, while Facebook is one of the classier STD's like syphilis!

It may seem like overkill to you guys that we have a fanpage for each TrueNuff brand but bear with us. We want to build them up separately. We're finding as we grow that each project has it's own unique audience. Also, we've got other projects in the works and we want to make sure we have the right infastructure to support growth.

Yes, we still have our forums here on TrueNuff soil, but they're for our hardcore peeps - thanks guys!

[TrueNuff] We're Bringin Buddies Back (Yeah!)

Some of you who have been around for a while may have remembered TrueNuff Comic's failed "Buddy" program. Basically if anyone donated to TrueNuff Comic got "buddy status" in the forums.

"Buddy status" gave supporters a neat badge beside their username in the forums as well as access to a private discussion forum and a "Behind The Panels" forum where they could read about the comic development (like a DVD commentary track, but with comics).

The "Behind the Panels" forum isn't going anywhere and if you donate or buy a shirt you won't get any magical privileges other than the "buddy" badge that shows up beside your forum posts. We're basically opening up the buddy badge to anyone who supports our projects in a "money" kind of way (we love making comedy, but it's hard to pay the bills with laughs).

So If you donated or bought a shirt in the past or if you donate or buy merchandise in the future you can request a buddy tag (the best way is to private message me in the forums) and you'll have a reminder you kick-ass!

Also if you have any ideas for future badges, let us know in the comments.
