You need to add the archive driver modules to the run time class path which you would like to access. At minimum, your class path needs to have the following modules:

truezip-file (compile) // the File* API
truezip-kernel (run)
truezip-driver-file (run) // accesses the OS file system using java.io.File*

If you want to access archive files then you may need to add some of these:

truezip-driver-zip (run) // for ZIP and relatives
truezip-driver-tar (run) // for TAR and relatives
truezip-driver-tzp (run) // for RAES encrypted ZIP files
truezip-driver-http (run) // for accessing archive files via HTTP(S) URI - accessible via Kernel calls only

The next release will contain a Maven archetype which documents these dependencies in the POM.

Well, I've tried both release candidates and I have a bit of a problem with the above. Depending of the class I put the TFile.setDefaultArchiveDetector in, I get a ServiceNotFound exception (in rc1) or a java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Could not initialize class de.schlichtherle.truezip.file.TDefaultArchiveDetector...

Could you explain how to do this in the latest versions?

The TFile class in TrueZIP 7.0 RC 2 now provides bulk copy methods which throw an IOException instead of returning a boolean value. Please have a look at this post http://truezip.schlichtherle.de/2011/04/14/bulk-copying/ and check the Javadoc for the TFile class.

You need to provide the complete path name for both source and destination. Auto-completion of path names is not provided in order to prevent ambiguities. Try this:

new TFile("file").archiveCopyTo(new TFile("archive.tar.gz/file"));

or more general:

TFile src = new TFile("src");
TFile dst = new TFile("dst.tar.gz");
TFile.cp_rp(src, new TFile("archive.tar.gz", src.getName()));

I've just spent a heck lot of time trying to figure out how to pack a single file.txt, into file.tar.gz. No matter what (I made sure all drivers are loaded) the command like:

new TFile(file).archiveCopyAllTo(new TFile("/tmp", "archive.tar.gz", detector));

just keeps making a copy of the src file, without compressing...

Could you speculate what could be wrong?
Thanks,

To avoid compatibility issues with existing applications, The File* API hasn't changed much. So the meaning and signature of identical named methods is staying identical. If you need more error control in TrueZIP 6, please consider using the methods File.cp(*) and File.cp_p(*) instead of File.copy*(*) and File.archiveCopy*(*) - the same applies for TrueZIP 7 with the class TFile. For recursive copying, I am considering to publish a method which has package private access so far, see http://java.net/jira/browse/TRUEZIP-47 . If you want this, please comment or vote on this new feature.

Hi.
We are using TrueZip 6. What I miss is throwing the exception in case of errors. For example File.copyAllTo() returns just boolean. When an error occurs, I cannot investigate the problem further. Is that the same in TrueZip 7?
