Psoriasis is an extremely irritating and unpredictable skin disorder that affects many individuals worldwide. While modern pharmaceutical treatments are having a hard time keeping the condition under control, aloe vera for psoriasis treatment has shown to be an effective alternative.

Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease that causes skin cells to multiply at considerably faster rates than normal. Due to the sheer amount of skin cells that spring into existence in a limited area, they cause the formation of red plaques, covered in white scales. Psoriasis normally occurs on the elbows, knees, torso, scalp, palm and feet; but can also affect nails and joints.

While there are many types of psoriasis and the symptoms encountered can vary; the itchiness and pain associated with rapid decay of skin cells can be extremely hard to cope with. It is also worth mentioning that the areas of skin affected by psoriasis are also prone to secondary fungal and bacterial infections.

While psoriasis has no definitive cure, the aim of its treatment is to control the rate at which skin cells multiply, keep secondary infections at bay, and keep symptoms to a minimum.

Aloe Vera for Psoriasis Treatment

Aloe vera has been used for decades as an active ingredient in many skin care products and has shown to be effective in treating numerous skin afflictions. Aloe vera has also shown great results in treating the symptoms of Psoriasis.

Aloe vera is ideal for psoriasis treatment due to its powerful hydrating properties. It deeply moisturizes the skin, thus preventing irritation, dryness, and flaking; while also reducing the thickness of psoriasis plaques.

Due to its anti-inflammatory and anesthetic properties, aloe vera can help reduce itchiness, swelling, and redness associated with psoriasis.

Fresh Aloe vera gel also contains a wide variety of anti-oxidants and essential nutrients that help keep skin cells healthy.

It is worth mentioning that, aloe vera also has mild antifungal and antibacterial properties that are effective at staving of secondary infections that can occur with psoriasis. It discourages bacterial growth and protects the skin from external aggression.

Methods of using Aloe Vera for Psoriasis Treatment

There are many ways of using aloe vera for psoriasis treatment, however, the most effective method is the simplest. We recommend using fresh aloe vera gel which is relatively easy to come across. You can either buy a fresh aloe leaf of grow the entire plant at home and use the leaves as soon as they are grown.

Simply cut open the leaf, make a few cuts in the gel within and rub it over your affected area. If you are having a day in which the itchiness is particularly unpleasant, we recommend adding fresh lemon juice over the aloe vera gel and then gently rubbing it over the problem area.

Leave the aloe vera gel overnight and then simply wash it off in the morning with slightly cool water. Apply the aloe vera gel about 3 times a day, or at any time when you feel psoriasis flaring up.

Alternatively, you can use aloe vera in combination with other essential oils to help lock in the moisturizing effect and profit from the healing effects of these oils.

Beneficial oils to be used in combination with Aloe Vera for Psoriasis Treatment:

Coconut Oil

Jojoba Oil

Garlic Oil

Menthol

Tea Tree Oil

This coconut oil and sugar scrub DIY recipe was created to offer people with more sensitive skin an alternative facial scrub to the one I previously posted.

The scrub makes use of raw unprocessed sugar to provide the gentle exfoliation, while the coconut oil removes all traces of makeup and dust from your skin.

When it comes to putting products on the face I like to keep it as basic as possible and keep the processed items to a minimum. Hence the raw sugar used for this facial scrub. You can, however, use normal white sugar or brown sugar if this is your preference or find raw sugar hard to come by. Raw sugar crystals are smaller and finer than normal white sugar and allow for a gentle exfoliation of dead skin cells without being too abrasive.

The coconut oil and baking powder take care of removing toxins, dust, and makeup off the surface of the skin. Also, due to their antibacterial properties, they also help cleanse the skin and keep acne at bay. Coconut oil is wonderfully delicate and also very nutritious for our skin, therefore an ideal ingredient for skin care.

This coconut oil and sugar scrub DIY recipe is ideal for anyone looking for a gentle and effective skin exfoliant. I do not recommend using a face scrub more than 3 times a week or even less if you have sensitive skin.

Sugar Scrub DIY Recipe

Ingredients

2 Tablespoons Coconut Oil

1 Tablespoon Baking powder

2 Tablespoons Raw Sugar

Directions

Melt the coconut oil.

Pour the coconut oil in a container intended for storing the finished scrub.

Add the baking powder and sugar and stir stir stir.

Let the mix cool down and harden. Takes up to 1 hour depending on the room temperature.

And it is ready to go!

For a visual representation of the Sugar Scrub check out the video.

Today on Medkit: eSight glasses for the blind, why is masturbation healthy for you? and testing out Grandma’s fizzy ash remedy for stomach pain.

eSight3 Virtual Reality glasses for restoring vision

The eSight glasses are actually a virtual reality headset designed to help those that are legally blind properly see again.

The device cannot restore vision to completely blind people.

Legally blind people are those that have a visual acuity of 20/200 or less in their better-seeing eye with the best conventional correction available. Basically, those that benefit from glasses but are still blind as a bat.

The VR headset uses two OLED displays and a high-speed HD camera. The video feed is then algorithmically processed and relayed to the displays. The esight glasses can enhance quality and contrast of the video feed, thus allowing users that suffer from various vision problems properly see the world around them. It is a fully portable device, that the user can control using an attached remote. The headset has about six hours of battery life.

The eSight also offers the user the ability to manually zoom in and out on items, however, it is ultimately designed to automatically focus. This feature allows users to transition with ease between near sight and long distance.

Now, these bad boys are available for purchase at whopping 10k $ a pop but the company is making efforts to make them more accessible to the general public.

Why is masturbation healthy for you?

In the old days, masturbation was heavily frowned upon, which led to some unsavory rumors including that it causes blindness, infertility and even hair in the palm of your hands. Fast forward to today when we have stopped believing everything that our priest says and you will find that 85% of men and 70% of woman worldwide are enjoying this activity.

During the act of masturbation pleasure and reward areas of the brain are stimulated thus reducing feelings of anxiety and stress. During an orgasm, endorphins are released. These endorphins are able to reduce the perception of pain, which works on everything from menstrual pain to headaches and toothaches.

For males, masturbation is especially healthy. Frequent ejaculation has been shown to reduce the risk of prostate cancer. Masturbation also improves the quality of sperm. While frequent masturbation reduces the number of sperm, it ensures that young healthy sperm is constantly produced.

Regular masturbation can improve sexual performance. Both men and women have pelvic floor muscles that stretch from your tailbone to your pubic bone. As we age these muscles weaken and cause erectile dysfunction in men and sexual dysfunction in women. Not to fret, masturbation can activate a reflex that causes these muscles to contract and maintain optimal function levels. Masturbation is basically a workout for your sex muscles.

Frequent masturbation also contributes to maintaining sexual drive and desire in both males and females.

Romanian Ash remedy for Stomach Pain

A Romanian folk remedy involves using ash, sodium bicarbonate, and vinegar to cure stomach pain.

The technique involves placing warm ash on the abdomen area. Not directly on the skin, on top of a cloth drenched in warm water. Then sodium bicarbonate mixed with vinegar is poured over the ash. The concoction is left on the patient for about 20 minutes.

This folk remedy claims to heal all kinds of digestive tract afflictions by absorbing all the harmful toxins right out of your body. While the remedy stems from pagan beliefs and traditions, it is still being used today to vexing results.

While there is no possible way in which toxins can somehow be sucked out of the body, using this method will gently warm the abdomen and this warmth can provide pain relief in certain circumstances such as menstrual pains, diarrhea, and indigestion.

Not bad grandma, not bad.

Korean sheet masks are the perfect pamper tool for all skin types out there. A sheet mask is packed with skincare ingredients and its aim is to intensively treat your skin in a matter of 20 minutes.

Cotton sheet masks are usually soaked in a glycerin based formula to which a number of active ingredients are added; depending on its intended purpose. They are recommended to be used daily, or at least 3-4 times a week. Recently sheet masks have become extremely popular and are part of the Korean “10 step skin routine”.

While you can find a wide variety of sheet masks, from hydrating to anti-aging and cleansing, they are not cheap by any means. A Korean sheet mask at your local Sephora shop will you set you back 10-15 dollars a pop. Not expensive, but not cheap by any means; especially if you intend to use them daily, or at least every other day.

However, what if I told you that you can make them all on your own?

Getting hold of a cotton sheet mask is easy enough. Some beauty stores actually sell them plain, already cut into a face shape, without any skin care infused into them. However, you can also use plain baby wipes for your basic mask. You will need to cut them up for the sheet to actually fit your face. From here, the world is your oyster!

You can create a sheet mask using ingredients that you have around your house. For a skin brightening sheet mask, refer to the tutorial above video. You can add turmeric if your skin is acne prone. Rose water and essential oils for a truly relaxing and hydrating sheet mask.

Author’s Note on Korean Sheet Masks

Have fun with it, after all, it is something you are doing for yourself; and often, the process is just as enjoyable as the results.

We all love the feeling of a smooth skin that has freshly undergone hot wax hair removal. Yet, as we all know, wax hair removal is anything but a pleasurable experience. However, the rumors out there in the beauty community claim that using sugar wax can make the experience almost painless.

Sugar Wax Hair Removal

Sugar waxing has been used to remove hair from the bodies of luscious women since 1900 BC. Back then, since sugar was only available in a few regions such as Persia, honey was used as the sugaring agent.

Sugar waxing is extremely similar to the common method of waxing. The warm sugar paste is applied to the skin and then with the help of a cotton sheet, the hair is removed from the area. The difference between the 2 techniques is that the sugar wax does not attach to the skin, making for a nearly painless hot wax hair removal.

While at the salon, sugar waxing will cost you more than the standard procedure; doing it at home is relatively easy. The wax can be made from foods that everyone has lying around their house.

A simple recipe for making sugar wax:

1 Cup White Sugar

¼ Cup Water

¼ Cup Lemon Juice

Stir together in a pot. Heat the mixture on the stove until the wax has a light honey color. Let it cool for about 20 minutes. Check with a finger that the wax is not smoldering hot. Refer to the video for more details!

Getting the right consistency of the wax may take some practice, yet it is well worth the effort. Sugar wax is hypoallergenic, however, those with sensitive skin may still have a bit of irritation after the waxing. Applying an aloe vera based soothing cream after the waxing should help calm down any skin irritation.

Today’s Medkit uncovers why humans cheat, examine artificial algae skin and put the beer bath anti-aging remedy to the test.

Beer bath Anti-aging Treatment

Countries from all around the world are jumping aboard the beer bath anti-aging hype train. This treatment supposedly has the ability to make skin smooth, supple and acne free!

Now the magic ingredient of the beer bath anti-aging treatment is beer sediment. Beer sediment, or brewer’s yeast, can help improve the symptoms of acne by inhibiting the production of and eliminating acne-triggering bacteria.

Brewer’s yeast contains nutrients like riboflavin, vitamin b12, biotin, and pantothenic acid that have shown to have powerful antioxidant effects. These powerful antibacterial and antioxidant properties are constantly coveted by the cosmetic industry and the main reason why companies are starting to incorporate Brewer’s yeast in their products.

While beer sediment a wonderful array of healthy nutrients, its content in beer is extremely low (maximum of 2 mg per liter). I’m sure you could get more of these nutrients by liking the floor than getting a beer bath treatment.

Artificial Skin from Algae

A professor from Chile developed a green-coloured artificial skin from algae that can breathe.

When we create artificial skin for people with burns and such the main problem is that the skin cannot sustain itself, it has no blood vessels to provide it with nutrients and it quickly deteriorates.

Skin made from algae breathes on its own, as every plant does, thus nourishing and sustaining itself.

What they want to do is genetically modify the algae so that it produces more than just oxygen, nutrients that tissue needs to grow and heal and even antibiotics.

For now, the artificial algae skin is, indeed, green. However, the professor believes that the color will fade in time and that no one needs to worry about walking around looking like Hulk’s scrawny cousin.

There are high hopes for this to be used for healing wounds, burn victims and cancer.

Why do humans cheat?

Now many argue that humans were not meant to be monogamous and cheating is part of our DNA. Well, it is part of our DNA, yet humans are originally programmed to be monogamous. However, some of us possess “cheating varieties” in our DNA.

The main genes involved in human monogamy are the ones that code Dopamine and Vasopressin.

– Long Allele form of the gene that codes DOPAMINE are 50% more likely to cheat on their partner

– Short Allele form of the gene that codes DOPAMINE had only 22% chance of cheating

The long allele gene is also associated with increased chance of being risk takers and adopting addictive behaviors (alcoholism, gambling etc).

Vasopressin is also involved, the hormone affects trust, empathy and social bonding. The more vasopressin you have the more it is likely that you are monogamous. Less vasopressin you’re a lying cheating bastard.

Ok, just so you can get a feel for vasopressin’s effect on mammals. Researchers administered vasopressin to hamsters, a very polygamous mammal as we are all aware.

Interesting enough the vasopressin high hamsters showed monogamous tendencies.

So we’re not hamsters and you cannot really fix a cheating partner with vasopressin shots. Yet the impact of vasopressin on our personalities and preference has best been observed in people that suffer from autism. Those that suffer from autism with low levels of vasopressin have shown an inability to understand social cues and values.

Leaving genes aside, money is also a big factor when it comes to cheating tendencies. It has been observed that individuals that make more or less money than their partner are more likely to cheat. Partners that stand on equal footing when it comes to income are more likely to have meaningful cheat-free relationships.

CBD(Cannabidiol) for Parkinson’s disease patients is emerging as the much sought out relief from the symptoms that plague their daily lives.

Parkinson’s disease is progressive neurodegenerative disease characterized by the degeneration of dopaminergic neurons. People that suffer from Parkinson’s disease are afflicted with a series of motor and cognitive symptoms that drastically affects their ability to lead a normal life.

Motor Deficiencies

A fine tremor that appears during resting periods

Rigidity

Bradykinesia – a paucity and slowness of movement. Patients can present loss of facial expression and associated movements such as arm swinging when walking.

Postural Instability – arguably the most dangerous motor deficiency as it often leads to falls that result in life-threatening traumatism

A motor block – this is essentially a freezing phenomenon. Typically, patients are suddenly unable to step forward when walking or complete their intended action. The freeze is transient and can last from seconds to minutes, after which it suddenly abates. This condition is often a major cause of anxiety and fear for those that suffer from Parkinson’s.

Cognitive disorders

The most common cognitive and psychiatric manifestations are dementia and depression. In some cases, Parkinson’s can also cause delusions, hallucinations, irritability, anxiety and apathy. Also, they often have disturbing sensory symptoms and pain in affected limbs.

These cognitive afflictions can sometimes be more impactful than the motor problems and are unfortunately harder to diagnose, treat and control.

Conventional Treatment

The medical treatment of Parkinson’s disease aims to control the symptoms and signs of this condition for as long as possible while keeping adverse effects to a minimum.

Levodopa coupled with Carbidopa is currently the gold standard symptomatic treatment for Parkinson’s disease.

While Levodopa provides the greatest control of motor symptoms and signs and presents the fewest adverse effects in the short term usage; long-term use of levodopa leads to side effects which are difficult to resolve.

CBD for treating Parkinson’s Disease

Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the main components of Cannabis sativa, however, it does not have any psychoactive effects and it is safe for humans to consume. Pharmacological studies on CBD have shown that this compound has numerous beneficial properties for the human body, including:

Neuroprotective effects

Immune modulation

Anti-arthritic agent

Anti-convulsant

Anxiolytic

Antioxidant

Anti-inflammatory

Antipsychotic

Antiemetic effects

The neuroprotective properties of CBD have been receiving increasing attention from the medical community for potential use in treating neurodegenerative diseases including Parkinson’s disease Huntington’s disease, and Alzheimer’s disease.

CBD and Dopamine

Cannabinoids exert their effects by interacting with the body’s endocannabinoid system. By activating the CB1 and CB2 cannabinoid receptor, CBD can actually modulate the release of dopamine at the central nervous system level.

Cannabinoids have been shown to increase both tonic and phasic dopamine transmission, as well as the activity of the systems that prevent dopamine neural activity. This increase in dopamine is one of the main reasons why CBD could be for Parkinson’s patients extremely beneficial.

CBD as a Neuroprotective Agent

Cannabidiol has demonstrated its ability to support the health of neural cells. Through its antioxidant properties, it prevents cell damage caused by free radicals, thus extending the life of neurons. It also has the ability to activate a receptor that encourages the formation of new mitochondria(the cell’s energy factory).

The cannabinoids are also able to suppress the glial activation, excitotoxicity, and oxidative injury that cause the degeneration of the dopamine-releasing neurons. Thus, further encouraging neuron longevity and health.

CBD for Parkinson’s Disease – Trial Results

While cannabinoids have not been able to prevent or stop the progression of the disease; they are able to help patients with Parkinson’s disease manage their symptoms and thus greatly improve their day to day life.

During studies that administered cannabis to Parkinson’s disease patients, impressive relief of symptoms was achieved. The patients saw significant improvements in motor disability and impairments, rigidity, tremors, bradykinesia, pain, and sleep.

More recent clinical trials found that cannabinoids can significantly reduce motor and pain symptoms in Parkinson’s disease patients as quick as 30 minutes after administration.

CBD is also a powerful anxiolytic that can also substantially improve sleep patterns, mood and decrease psychosis in Parkinson’s disease patients.

In one survey, Parkinson’s disease patients that have used cannabinoids to control their symptoms have ranked it as the most effective treatment option out of prayer, vitamins, massage, art therapy, relaxation, and music therapy.

The age-old skin care conundrum, how does one actually control sebum production? For those that have been plagued with oily skin trying to find the right skin care routine is a challenge in itself.

There are generally 2 schools of thought regarding adequate sebum control.

The Moisture Theory

This theory postulates that oily skin is actually just a product of dry skin. Because the skin is so dry, the sebum glands are working overtime to compensate and keep the skin cells protected and nourished.

Based on this conviction, some sebum control product lines advertise the need to gently remove excess sebum coupled with proper moisturizing. This will, in theory, correct the dryness of the skin and in doing so, halt the production of excess sebum.

The Dysfunctional Sebum Glands Theory

Now this one is more straight forward. Simply put, your sebum glands are just producing sebum willy-nilly and with no apparent reason. It is just how they are, how you were born.

Many products were created based on this assumption and aim to remove excess sebum all while doing their best to control sebum production and excretion.

The Battle of Sebum Control Skin Care

Well, we have had enough of guessing, and thus we put the 2 theories to the test. The oily skinned guinea pig (and author of this article – because talking in the 3rd person can be so fun) treated half of her face using gentle moisturizing products and the other half using sebum control products.

We did not do an extensive 10 step skin routine on the basis that well most of us find even 3 steps skin routines a real chore.

The steps involved: Foam Cleansing, Toning and Moisturizing.

*A quick note, yes even if you have oily skin, moisturizing products that aim to control sebum production exist and have been used in this experiment.

Who won the Epic Sebum Control Battle of the Century? Results in the video – because seeing is believing!

The 3 subjects on today’s Medkit are:

Why humans cry their eyes out

The innovative robotic heart sleeve

Grandma’s ear coning remedy for ear pain.

Why do humans cry?

Fun fact, humans are the only creatures on earth that cry emotional tears. Every other animal has a physical reason behind it. Now, emotional tears are produced in response to strong feelings such as sadness, anger, pleasure, and of course physical pain.

They basically signal the fact that you are currently facing a situation that is way beyond your ability to handle. Another school of thought argues that emotional tears signal submission and vulnerability, thus an adequate tool to gain attention or affection and even to ward off attacks.

Emotional tears are also chemically different from the other types, they carry more protein and even contain a natural painkiller. This particularity could be responsible for that feeling of relief that some people feel after a good crying session.

The Robotic Heart Sleeve

A team of biomedical clinicians and engineers from Harvard has designed and tested a soft robotic sleeve that compresses and twists the heart in the same way that healthy muscle tissue would.

The robotic sleeve is made exclusively from biocompatible and non-rigid materials. The groundbreaking robotic heart sleeve coats the exterior of the heart; inflating and deflating, essentially mimicking the normal heart muscle activity and helping it pump blood throughout the body.

Now the robotic sleeve is powered by air. The thin robotic silicone sleeve is attached to a pump that inflates and deflates the artificial muscle. And since it coats the exterior of the heart, it has no need for anticoagulants and it also minimizes the risk for infections.

So far the team has only been able to test the heart sleeve on pigs with heart failure and cardiac arrest. Yet, the robotic heart sleeve was able to restore the heart to a whooping 97% of its original cardiac output.

The implications could be enormous for human care and longevity.

Grandma’s Remedies: Ear Coning

Ear coning is one of the most popular and wide-spread folk remedy for curing pain. It involves placing a cone-shaped device in the ear canal and supposedly creating a sort of low-level warm vacuum that will suck out wax and other debris from your ear canal using smoke.

While many people today swear by the effectiveness of ear coning, the science does not back it up. Wax is sticky. In order to force wax out of your ear you would need to create powerful negative pressure that would end up rupturing your eardrum in the process.

There is absolutely no vacuum created by smoke and smoke does not have any pain relieving properties. If people have felt relief using this method it was most likely due to a mixture of placebo and time heals all things.

Ketamine, a widely used anesthetic is able to quickly decrease symptoms of depression in patients that suffer from a major depressive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, bipolar disorder and treatment-resistant depression.

Bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, and PTSD are among the most excruciating experiences a human being can experience. These conditions can be so painful, that millions of people chose to commit suicide rather than having to live another second with these afflictions.

While the majority see these conditions as an emotional problem, and not a physical one; the ones suffering endure debilitating physical symptoms that only amplify their emotional struggles. A lack of understanding from society and loved ones coupled with the emotional and physical pain leads to an inability of leading a normal life.

In the present day, there is also a shortage on what medical treatments can do for such patients. These conditions often do not respond to regular antidepressant treatments and counseling.

However, extensive research has shown that infusions with ketamine, at sub-anesthetic doses, holds great promise for treating treatment-resistant depression. Ketamine has shown to induce impressive anti-depressant effects within 4 h post administration in patients who previously did not respond to multiple treatments.

However, a single infusion of subanesthetic doses of ketamine produces benefits that typically last approx. 3 weeks.

Ketamine Mechanism of Action

When administering ketamine via slow infusion, a cascade of events are triggered in the brain.

This cascade affects pathways and receptors, leading to a rapid growth of neural connections.

Ketamine essential causes a “rewiring” at the central nervous system level.

In addition, it has powerful anti-inflammatory effects which also contributes to its anti-depressive properties (since depression is closely associated with inflammation).

Ketamine affects the following:

Increased Glutamic acid levels – glutamic acid has a calming effect, counteracts symptoms of stress, and promotes sleep

Decreases Tryptophan metabolites – quinolinic acid and 3-hydroxykynurenine are products produced when tryptophan is metabolized. Quinolinic acid can act as a neurotoxin, while 3-hydroxykynurenine can generate free radicals and exacerbate and cause neuronal damage

Increases Phosphatidylcholine levels – Phosphatidylcholine is a major component of cell membranes, and by increasing the level of this metabolite, it increases formation of connections between neurons in the prefrontal cortex and hippocampus

Increases Dopamine and Serotonin concentrations – low levels of these neurotransmitters are associated with depression

Ketamine infusion therapy Experience

Now ketamine can be administered through the following routes:

Infusion (IV)

Intranasal

Under the tongue

Intramuscular injection

Orally

Rectally

However, the preferred method of administrating ketamine is by a slow IV drip.

As soon as the infusion begins, ketamine will take only a few seconds to reach the brain and it will quickly make its effects felt.

While undergoing the infusion, patients are not able to converse normally or stand. It does not cause loss of consciousness and the patients are fully aware of their surroundings.

The sensation has been described as weird. The body is fully relaxed while the mind is extremely active. When undergoing the ketamine therapy some people have experienced a dissociative effect.

When dissociation occurs, people partially lose awareness of their body, causing a sort of out-of-body experience. The mind is active and people often find themselves reflecting on current anxieties or past traumas.

However, instead of panicking or suffering, it is a very calm and pleasant journey.

Not all people that undergo the ketamine therapy experience the dissociation phenomenon.

Most enjoy the experience and let their mind wander with the thoughts without trying to control the process.

While for most patients the experience is pleasant, some might have short moments of fright. Those that enter the therapy with high anxiety are more likely feel uneasy and out of control. The key to this is just breathing, listen to calming music and trust that you are in a safe and medically controlled environment.

The weird sensation persists for the following 40 minutes after the infusion has ended. However, these effects are not a sign of depression relief, but simply a consequence of ketamine reaching the brain. Ketamine’s depression-relieving effects manifest only 4 h after the infusion therapy has ended.

Effects of Ketamine Infusion Treatment

The treatment does not cause instant happiness. Instead, it takes away the symptoms that do not allow a person to enjoy life events.

Ketamine infusion treatment relieves the following symptoms of depression:

Anhedonia (inability to feel pleasure from pleasurable activities)

Anxiety

Fatigue

Irritability

Feelings of emptiness, hopelessness, and sadness

Nightmares

Sleep disturbance (insomnia/ excessive sleep)

Difficulty making decisions and concentrating

Feelings of worthlessness or guilt

Social anxiety and avoidance

Thoughts of suicide

The changes provoked by ketamine therapy are not always explosive and immediate, the sensation is instead gentler and more subtle.

Patients that have undergone the ketamine treatment have felt the following effects:

The ability to genuinely feel positive emotions

The ability to enjoy socializing with family and friends

The ability to brushing off obstacles and stress factors that once plagued their mind

Finding it easy to shower every day, sleep right, and generally willing to take care of themselves

Improved energy levels

Determination to finish projects that have dragged on for months or years (housekeeping, home repairs, organizing finances)

Decreased social anxiety

No more obsessing over unkind words and criticism

No more obsessing over past trauma and memories

Improved confidence when faced with authority figures
