The Tryphon debian repository has been migrated on a new server : a larger storage, a newer debarchiver version (with bzip support), a more powerful apache server.

For many years, this repository provides debian and ubuntu packages for several domains : especially radio/audio and ruby packages. For example, you can find the Rivendell packages for debian/ubuntu or rubygems 1.3.6 packages for lenny-backports.

The migration was a good occasion for several other changes :

The Tryphon debian repository is now available on a new URL : debian.tryphon.eu. The previous url is automatically redirected. But you’re invited to replace debian.tryphon.org by debian.tryphon.eu into your sources.list files.

The homepage has been refactored with an automatic package index. You can find versions and architectures for all available packages.

The first edition of SysAdmin Séminaire was organized on August 2 in the buildings of the Ecole des Mines de Paris.

Here are the slides of our presentation “Agile Puppet”.

If Puppet changes sysadmin operations into source files, we need tools and environments to manage these sources. Many problematics can be solved by using classic development methods :

source versionning,
a ticket management to manage past and future changes,
a productive environment to write and “execute” Puppet sources,
tests to verify changes as soon/often as possible,
deployment tools,
audit Puppet operations,

Tryphon servers are managed via Puppet since 2006, but we’re using Puppet to build Tryphon Boxes too. In these various environments, we’re trying to adapt our development methods to our puppet projects. Gepetto provides some tools to create and use a development environment. We’re using tools like Capistrano (for Puppet source deployements) or Cucumber (to test Puppet configurations). This presentation tries to cover the different solutions to make Puppet agile.

As Francois Bayart says in his post about this presentation, this tutorial explains how to start your puppet project with Gepetto.
