NASHVILLE, TN: Don’t miss your chance to scoop up tickets to the annual music lover’s haven known as Rites of Spring Music Festival, which draws thousands each spring to the campus of Vanderbilt University. With an already amazing line-up announced, including headliners Wiz Khalifa and MUTEMATH, additional artist Reptar, Caitlin Rose, and Friendly Savages have been confirmed for music enthusiasts to enjoy as well. As tradition has shown, this is THE place to be to kick off your spring in musical style!

Fans can catch a preview of the fun-filled weekend, beginning Thursday, April 19th during the Battle of the Bands competition and Silent Disco. During Battle of the Bands, beginning at 7:00pm, each band competes to perform during the opening slot on each festival day, with the selection made by the audience that evening. After Battle of the Band winners are chosen, the 3rd annual Silent Disco will begin, in which headphones are given and a DJ spins tunes resulting in unified party-goers grooving in silence. Both events take place on Alumni Lawn and are free.

The 2012 Rites of Spring Music Festival is an annual tradition of beautiful spring weather and great music at Vanderbilt University. The event will be held on Friday April 20th and Saturday April 21st on the Alumni Lawn in the heart of Vanderbilt’s campus.

Weekend Passes and Single Day tickets are ON SALE NOW to students and the general public at all Ticketmaster locations, online at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 1-800-745-3000. Tickets can also be purchased with Cash or Check with no service fees included only at the Sarratt Box Office on the Vanderbilt campus. Weekend passes for Vanderbilt students are available for $30 and faculty and staff for $40 (one ticket per student, faculty or staff). Earlier this morning (March 4), former G-Unit rapper Young Buck was shot at 11 times while driving an SUV in Nashville, Tennessee.
NBC 4 reports that at approximately 3:30 AM, a white Chevrolet Tahoe drove past Buck’s SUV and opened fire hitting the vehicle 11 times.

Though the rapper, whose real name is David Darnell Brown, was not hit in the gunfire, contrary to some reports, a female passenger was hit once in the shoulder. Metro Police say the woman was treated and released at Vanderbilt Hospital while another passenger in the vehicle was not injured.

The shooting came after Buck was holding a cookout and videoshoot at his Nashville residence, taking to Twitter to publicize the event. Though he’s been trying to pick his career back up since his falling out with former label, G-Unit the rapper has been harried with deep financial hardship over the years—facing Chapter 7 in October 2011 resulting in the liquidation of his assets. A trustee administering his estate revealed in December that she has plans to sell his “Young Buck” moniker as part of the liquidation.
