I’m very very proud to present to you my first born child: Biel Andreu was born on a beautiful Saturday morning 14th March 2009 at 7:01am. He weighed 7 lbs and was 19.29 inches long at birth.

Being present at the time he was born was… an undescriptible experience. Seriously, you can read about it, you can watch Nine Months several times, you can even ask your brothers and friends, but even all those things together will only give you a tiny little glimpse of the real deal.

Gabriele is doing great. I really think it has something to do with her german genes or something - even doctors are amazed at how quick she’s recovering. Me? I’m tired but incredibly happy. We just got the word we’ll be going home Tuesday 10pm. Can’t wait to take Biel home and show him the room we have ready for him.

At last the “sweet wait” is over and the day finally arrived. The Diaper Invasion Tour (insert guitar riff here) is kicking off this Saturday at around 9AM. Doctor says my little boy is probably doing wardrobe tests and some last minute rehearsals as I’m writing this. We couldn’t be more excited about the Tour and I’m pretty sure Biel is more than ready to finish his 9 months journey and eagerly jump into “the next level”, only this time, G and I will be there next to him holding his hand. In other news, I thought it would be fun to commemorate this incredible moment in my life with a Gig Poster just for kicks.

As for work, starting tomorrow I’m going to take some time off and in the next couple months I will be working as effectively as possible (most of the time from the home), focusing only on key process of each project and eliminating distractions as much as I can in order to secure the necessary time my family deserves — BUT I will certainly find the time to tweet/share with you the joys of parenting, oh and yes, the effects of sleep depravation.

I’m having a hard time trying to find the right placement for them. Ever since I started using dual displays I’ve always positioned the secondary display (in this case, the MBP) to the left of my main display, but it turns out, the placement of the CD/DVD Drive on the MacBook Pro (to the right side of the unibody) makes it very hard to insert and remove discs when placed to the left of the Cinema Display. No wonder Apple kindly hints the MacBook Pro should be placed to the right of your main display, but then again, as I just found out, what do you do with your mouse? Taking from Apple suggestion, I guess all I have to do now is start using the mouse with my left hand :)

Now, I would’ve shown you more images of the unpacking and stuff, but Martin erased them all along with some other pics I took recently.

Before I start, let me just say two things:

Dear Mother Nature, the 20’s were too short and I want a refund!

I Don’t care about your #@$! refund! The 30’s the new 20 anyway! Woohoo!

Ok, having said that, yes, this post means I made it through the 20’s and the day finally arrived: Today I’m turning 30 which is actually weird considering (true story) two years ago I spent 8 full months thinking I was one year older than what I really was. Then one night I was sitting with Kenny and Rebekah sharing our epiphanies in the middle of a full moon I said “Having 29 is so weird-” And Rebekah immediately said “Dude, but you’re 28!”

After some serious math using my fingers and not before calling my wife (who was in Paraguay at that time), we came to the conclusion that I had a mental fart and in fact, was 28 the whole time.

Aaaaaaaanyway, today is official though, I am turning 30 and it’s kinda sad to realize I’m leaving the twenties behind, specially this last year who was easily the most exciting year I ever had and that includes all my 5 past lives as well. I started to blog (more on that later), I got to spent a few months with my friends in Albuquerque, I now know what it feels to drive to Vegas, to hug a Saguaro cactus in Phoenix, to walk in NYC with my wife, to get your first tattoo and last but definitively not least, to experiencing the “sweet wait” while my wife and I plan for Biel’s arrival.

I’m also excited for next year. My baby boy will arrive in March which means I have less than 90 days to achieve what Mother Nature alone couldn’t in 29 years: Start making sense and grow a pair. Talk about a challenge.

Professionally? Next year will be a huge challenge for everybody, but I’m confident this industry will prevail. We just need to start building smart, cost effective tools and technologies that will allow our clients to provide their services and deliver their products in a much more agile, flexible and mobile way. At least, that’s my humble opinion and it’s not… wait, scratch that. Considering the tough times we’re facing, my opinion it is now, in fact, on sale. Contact me if you want me to tell you how much I cherish you, your product, simply if you need me to remind you how good stripes look on you.

The Thousand Things Turned One

Today is also one exact year since I started this blog and I still can’t believe the amount of people who actually subscribed to it or visited it periodically. Not only I rarely make any sense (in any language that is, not just english) but also, I don’t think I was even close at devoting the time Ten Thousand Things and its readers deserve, which is why I’m mentally debating myself day in, day out about the future of blogging all together. Yes, you read that right. I promise to elaborate on this subject extensively in a follow-up post, but all I can say right now is that I find it very hard to believe that blogs like mine will survive in today’s digital ecosystem, at least not on it’s current form and function. Now before you go all “OMG!! The Sky is Falling!” and run to hit the bell, wait up. I will continue to keep this place updated and hopefully find time in the next few months to work a on new Ten Thousand Things, so don’t worry, your <del>daily</del>... <del>weekly</del>, err, make that “almost monthly” fix of nonsense will continue. In the meantime, you will find me posting on Twitter. Apparently 140 characters is more than enough to express an idea. Who knew…

So that’s it. I gotta leave now, I’m throwing a Pool Birthday Party and still got tons to do. Oh, before I forgot! I’m hoping you guys are having a great time among your friends and family these days and I wish you all of us a 2009 filled with projects and ideas! See you guys!
