As you can see, I didn't get around to starting the podcast back up in the fall, and now I'm just not sure when it will be. There are a lot of things competing for my time these days. But, with the big 500th anniversary of Henry VIII's accession to the throne in 2009, I feel that I have to do something with the podcast in the months to come, so keep checking back or stay subscribed. :)

In the meantime, I'm still updating things on the website here and there and actively updating and moderating both of the blogs on the site - the main News blog and the Tudor Q&A blog.

Podcast on hold for a while

This is the audio version of the announcement I posted yesterday.

Direct mp3 download

<itunes:explicit>no</itunes:explicit><itunes:subtitle>This is the audio version of the announcement I posted yesterday. Due to the upcoming sale of our house and move (back in to Austin proper - we're out in a rural area near Elgin right now) my weekends are going to be completely eaten up soon. So, I've decided to put the podcast on hiatus for the summer. We're hoping to take a vacation to Maine again this year too, so I'll probably just aim to start back up in September or October. This will also give me a little time to think some more about a few format changes that I've been considering. And this will allow me to finally get on a schedule to put the podcast out at the beginning of a month instead of the end! :)

I apologize to all the folks who have emailed me telling me how much they look forward to the podcast every month since they're going to have a bit of a wait for the next one now! But I'll still be updating the website and news blog as time allows, so you can still get your "Tudor fix".

Until the fall, fare thee well!

TudorCast #22- March 2008

Featured website: English Heritage http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/
Images of England: http://www.imagesofengland.org.uk/
PastScape: http://www.pastscape.org/

Wikimedia link for fan vaults: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Fan_vaults

Oriel window images:

Shakespeare's Birthplace

Sudeley Castle

Hampton Court Palace

Portcullis images:

Bodiam Castle

Westminster Abbey exterior (can you find all five portcullises?)

Music from Magnatune.com
La Primavera, The Dufay Collective I'm pretty sure the earliest the podcast will get out now is going to be the first weekend of the new year (if I'm lucky). Due to a combination of a dead laptop, a bad cold, a boyfriend recovering from pneumonia and travel, I'm going to have to push the December podcast into January. I had about half of it ready to go but, of course, it is still on the laptop that won't start. I should be able to get that fixed up in the next week or so. But, even if that worked, my voice is in no shape to record at the moment! Hopefully the cough and congestion will pass in the next couple of days and I'll be able to record next weekend.

I hope everyone has a great new year!

Traveling for Christmas

I really, really tried to get the podcast finished by today so I could upload it before I went out of town, but last minute running around and packing has prevented it. I promise the December episode will be up before the month actually ends, but it won't be until the 28th at the earliest.

I'll be on the road most of the day tomorrow and then visiting with friends and family for a while, so updates may be sparse and slow. So, if I don't get a chance to post again until the new year, I just wanted to wish everyone a happy holiday season, no matter what you celebrate this time of year! Here's to a great 2008!

TudorCast #18 - November 2007

Featured Website: The British Library

Music from Magnatune.com

La Primavera, The Dufay Collective (album "Cancionero") and Jacob Heringman (album "Blame Not My Lute")

Intro - "Greensleeves" by La Primavera on "English Renaissance Music"
After news - "Passe Velours" by Jacob Heringman on "Blame Not My Lute"
After "This Month" -"Ya cantan los gallos" (excerpt) by Dufay Collective on "Cancionero"
After glossary - "Wolsey's Wilde" (excerpt) by La Primavera on "English Renaissance Music"
After text - "Trenchmore" by Jacob Heringman on "Blame Not My Lute"
After closing - "Recercata segunda" by La Primavera on "English Renaissance Music"

Episode Transcript

Direct mp3 download

<itunes:explicit>no</itunes:explicit><itunes:subtitle>Featured Website: The British Library Music from Magnatune.com La Primavera, The Dufay Collective (album "Cancionero") and Jacob Heringman (album "Blame Not My Lute") Intro - "Greensleeves" by La Primavera on "English Renaissance Music" After news - "Pass</itunes:subtitle><itunes:author>Lara Eakins</itunes:author><itunes:summary>Featured Website: The British Library Music from Magnatune.com La Primavera, The Dufay Collective (album "Cancionero") and Jacob Heringman (album "Blame Not My Lute") Intro - "Greensleeves" by La Primavera on "English Renaissance Music" After news - "Passe Velours" by Jacob Heringman on "Blame Not My Lute" After "This Month" -"Ya cantan los gallos" (excerpt) by Dufay Collective on "Cancionero" After glossary - "Wolsey's Wilde" (excerpt) by La Primavera on "English Renaissance Music" After text - "Trenchmore" by Jacob Heringman on "Blame Not My Lute" After closing - "Recercata segunda" by La Primavera on "English Renaissance Music" Episode Transcript Direct mp3 download</itunes:summary><itunes:keywords>Tudor,England,History,Henry,VIII,Elizabeth,I,Elizabethan</itunes:keywords>

<feedburner:origEnclosureLink>http://tudorhistory.org/podcast/11-2007.mp3</feedburner:origEnclosureLink>

Happy Thanksgiving!

I would like to wish all my fellow Americans a Happy Thanksgiving! Only seven people of 213 admitted to Tudor tattoos. :)

Updated to add: Just in case anyone was interested in how the winners were chosen... I pasted the email addresses into an Excel spreadsheet, so there was a number for each address. Then I went to Random.org and had it generate 5 numbers in the range that the addresses covered (1 to 185, I think). And that's how they were chosen.
