Looking for a way to get involved with a service project? Having trouble finding one that fits your schedule? Upward Bound would love your help! Upward Bound is a tutoring program that helps high school students prepare for college. Upward Bound works with 50 students every year who want extra help with their homework and preparing for college. They are all first-generation college students who are at or below the poverty level.

Upward Bound is located on Tulane's campus in the basement of the JL (Josephine Louise) dorm. They are looking for consistent tutors to commit to tutoring every Tuesday from 4-6. They would love tutors to start now and continue into next semester if your schedule allows. This is a great way to do a meaningful service right here on our campus.

Hello! Payson center is participating in the Idealist Grad Fair to be held at Tulane on Tuesday, October 30th, I am writing to let you know that Tulane is looking for student volunteers to work the Fair. They are looking for students who can work various two-hour shifts to help with the entire Fair both set up, during and after the Fair. Some of the duties will be to man the registration tables; be a “floater” which monitors the needs of the Fair, provide supplies, etc; help distribute boxes to correct Fair participants’ tables, setting up signs and to help tear down once the Fair ends.

我寒假回国，apartment空出来了，住在学校的同学寒假没地方住可以考虑一下。我的apartment是两层的复式结构，楼上是两件卧室和卫生间，楼下是客厅饭厅和厨房，豪华装修，电器一应俱全，包括电视xbox，家庭音响系统,20M internet等，厨房设备很完善。小区有游泳池，烧烤架，绿化很漂亮。小区有门禁，进出需要刷卡，所以很安全。地方在elmwood的sawmill creek小区，离学校开车15分钟，有earhart hwy连接uptown，交通很方便。如果你有驾照没车，我的车也可以借你开一个月，但是要自己上全险。房价650美元，包含所有utility. 如果需要用车的同学，则需要多支付100美元。我的车是suzuki XL-7 SUV，2004年，很安全可靠，没有任何故障，外形保养的很好。有一个室友，男性，非常干净，人很随和。

可以随时看房，决定后则签正式合同。没有过分的要求，只是屋内绝对不准抽烟，保持公共区域整洁即可。

TCSSA Hong Kong Market Trip Strikes Again! Signing up & Tips!

Hey y'all,

Having a great fall break everyone? In the meantime of devouring knowledge at the last minute, why not chew up some Chinese food in the meantime? Again our signature twice-a-semester Hong King Market Trip is here to satisfy your needs! The local Chinese Presbyterian Church members will kindly provide us the transportation as well as assistance to the local Hong Kong Market, located on 925 Behrman Hwy Gretna, LA 70056. Below is the specific information and deadline for those who interested should be aware of:

( I know this is long, but please at least READ the highlighted part)

3.If you want to visit the flea market or any place elsewhere around the neighborhood, make sure to take care of your personal properties and make a consensus with your driver and let them drive you there and back to the campus as well, since it is TCSSA's responsibility to ensure that you guyscoming back safe and sound with your driver family.

4. The trip is totally FREE since we have been working with the Church for a period of time, so please respect others' religious views as well as living habits as our cooperation is based on trust and love :]

Join us for a fascinating discussion on "Modernization and Democratization in Southeast Asia: The Case for Indonesia" with Dr. Andrew Goss, Associate Professor of History at the University of New Orleans. Dr. Goss will provide an overview of the topic and lead discussion.
Free and open to the public, Great Decisions is a discussion series with optional accompanying articles produced by the Foreign Policy Association. It is designed to create a more informed and engaged citizenry by bringing people together to talk about global affairs.
WACNO's Great Decisions series meets on the third Wednesday of the month at a local library. Upcoming topics include:

Exiting From Afghanistan and Iraq (January 16th)

Dr. Andrew Goss' Bio
Andrew Goss is a historian of political culture in Indonesia and Southeast Asia. His current research investigates the intersection of science and politics in colonial and post-colonial Indonesia. His publication "Decent Colonialism? Pure Science and Colonial Ideology in the Netherlands East Indies, 1910-1929" is in the February 2009 edition of the Journal of Southeast Asian Studies. His last book, The Floracrats: State Sponsored Science and the Failure of Science in Indonesia (University of Wisconsin Press, 2011) will appear in an Indonesian translation later this year.
Dr. Goss enjoys teaching Asian history in New Orleans, a city that usually imagines itself very distant from Asia. Increasingly he has found commonalities between New Orleans and the entrepôts of Southeast Asia. And he may be the only Indonesianist living outside of Southeast Asia to live on the site of a former sugar plantation. He has taken up golf, and as he drags himself around the local golf course during the summer season, he longingly thinks back to living in Jakarta.

Hi！电子竞技大赛正式开始报名了！

比赛项目一：DOTA 3v3比赛。报名队伍由我随机分配。初赛按照积分制方式进行，比赛3局。之后的复赛和决赛按照淘汰制，选出冠军和亚军。比赛时间是10月21号。地点在目前定在LBC。

比赛项目二：CS 1v1比赛。10局制，iceword图，淘汰制。比赛时间 10月13号，地点暂定 LBC。

比赛项目三：三国杀 3v3. （武将按照online 高级场）初赛积分制（online上进行，请大家在8区建一个小号），比赛3局。之后的复赛和决赛（面杀）按照淘汰制，抉择出冠军和亚军。比赛时间是10月20号地点目前定在LBC。

比赛项目四：三国杀 1v1. 淘汰制。（online上进行，请大家在8区创一个小号）最后的决赛将以面杀的形式进行（四禁：华佗，孙权，吕蒙，曹操）比赛时间是10月14号。地点暂定LBC。

Update for Mid-Fall Fest This Saturday!

Our traditional holiday is this Saturday September 29^th.

Something you might want to know:

・ Our entrance fee is $3 for non-members; and our membership fee is $25 per year or $15 per semester.

・ The volunteers of the event will be waived the entrance fee.

・ Only the paid members get the chance to win $100 Wal-Mart gift card (the new IPod Nano is not yet available).

・ Everyone gets chances to win Pockys. They will be 10 Pocky products ready to give out. We apologize for the absence of Moon Cakes (they were sold out).

・ If you want to be a paid member, Renhua Liu from our Department of Membership Service will be at the entrance collecting dues and help you register as a paid member.

The long-waited Hornets game ticket is finally available now!

Right now, TCSSA only reserved discount tickets to the first home game against San Antonio Spurs. After this game we will reserve tickets to Houston Rockets, Miami Heat and LA Lakers (possibly NYC Knicks).

Please click the link below and use the Special Offer Code to get your tickets. You will need to register with Ticketmaster.com before you pay. You can buy multiple tickets for yourself and your friends. The price below is the final price (tax waived). After the game you can go to the court and join the post-game events at the arena.

Please make sure you purchase your ticket before Tuesday October 16, 2012. If you want to drive, the parking rate is also discounted to $10.

We will provide transportation to the game for free to paid TCSSA members; natural members will be charged $5 for the shuttle. More information will be sent out later. Another survey about the time you want to leave for the game might be sent out soon. I truly hope you all can go early and enjoy the pre-game events outside the arena.
