In my daily life I think about lots of social media stuff for the BBC, the BBC’s Vision department to be specific (launches listed bbcvisionsitelaunches.blogspot.com here if you’re interested). It’s started to tick me off that social media seems to be increasingly synonymous with marketing, so I figured it was time to start sharing my thoughts about the art of community management and try and share some of the things that I get to mull over of a day. And probably some stuff about cakes and dogs with hats on occasionally.

By way of ancient history, I started my career in what was then called online communities as a moderator across all of the BBC’s messageboards in 2001. I then had the pleasure of being the Community Producer on BBC Collective until 2008.

It’s worth saying that all the thoughts expressed here are my own, rather than the BBC’s, just in case I appear to be some sort of BBC robot.
