Parting is such sweet sorrow...

As a rule, I have a terrible time parting with clothes I love. Sometimes there are things like the 6 year old Gap dress I wore today that just need to be pulled out of rotation for a while but sometimes there are things that you love, high-end/low-end that you know you’ll never wear again for whatever reason that you need to say goodbye too.

Practicing what I preach I did a closet sweep of my own to say goodbye to some things that’s time has come to give room to the things who’s time is now…For the most part I split the things into bags for donation, bags for my 14 year old niece (here’s a tip, when you and your teenage niece are wearing the same clothes, it’s time for you to move on) but sometimes there’s the rare occasion when something is a bit too high-end for donation and a bit too much for a 14year old, like my MiuMiu bondage skirt. Thankfully now there are great consignment sites like therealreal.com that specialize in online designer resale and off went the bondage skirt from my closet and my mind, until tonight that is when out of the blue I got a cheque for the sale of the skirt! And while for a minute I looked back lovingly on the skirt with maybe a hint of regret I thought how awesome it is, someone got a great skirt, i got some seed money for my september trip to Paris and my skirt got a loving home and everyone lived happily ever after…

Fun Fact: While living in Washington, Jackie Kennedy was said to have augmented her clothing budget by discretely selling her old clothes to nearby resale shops
