FOTD: Oxblood

The muted glamour of fall already paved its way last July and since then, I cannot stop celebrating my love for this season’s fashionable trends. Dark and muted colors are always my favorites too!

But aside from scarves and boots, makeup is still an essential part to complete your entire fall look. Here is my simple take on one of autumns’s make up trends— the oxblood lipstick.

I toned down the eye make up to put the spotlight on my oxblood lips (NARS Lipstick in Amsterdam).Then, I just curled my lashes using my trusty old Shu Uemura eye lash curlers and perked them up by swiping MAC Black Extreme mascara. Let us not forget eyebrows too as it makes or breaks your look. I have been recently using K-Palette to fake having full brows. Lol. As for the base, I put on Shiseido UV Protective Foundation to conceal my hyperpigmentation. And to contour my chubby cheeks, I swiped on The Balm Bahama Mama bronzer (I could have love it but it caused my skin to break out!). For a seemingly natural flush, I lightly put on Chanel blush in Frivole.

Such a simple look to wear every day for work, don’t you think so?

Updated What’s In My Make Up Bag

Hello everyone! Work and everything in between made me too busy for several months. But I am still eager to blog anything beauty related once in a while, especially today! Lol.

So let me start off by introducing to you some products I have been loving lately. These are the staples inside my make up bag for months now simply because they all work damn well for me. Lol.

1.Chanel Mat Lumiere Perfection in 20 Beige

I have been opting to junk liquid and cream foundations when I decided to purchase this. It feels lightweight on the face while giving you light to medium coverage. The texture is incredibly the best among all I tried—not powdery at all and it subtly illuminate your face while covering minor blemishes.

2.Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush in 76 Frivole

Screaming the au naturele vibe, this peach to coral shade sure looks suitable for everyday.

3. MAC Fluidline in Past Twilight

One of the best gel liner formulations would probably be the Fluidline’s. I used this as a brow gel and an eyeliner and it works perfectly fine. Indeed the shade is very dark, but definitely two shades lighter than Blacktrack.

4.Nars Matte Lipstick in Amsterdam

Fall will never happen in Manila, but why not feels its vibe by wearing this vampy red lip color? You can also lightly put this on for a natural reddish tint on your lips. Versatile, isn’t it?

5. MAC In Extreme Mascara im Extreme Black

Clumping is a thing in the past and this mascara saves your pretty lashes from appearing like spider legs!<

6. Make Up Forever Full Cover Concealer

The packaging knows no lies as it is definitely full coverage and waterproof! Best concealer for me to cover up your dark secrets! Wink wink!

Hello! Not very familiar with whitening products but I really like Vaseline lotion. They have the one with whitening formula. Don't forget wearing SPF too as that really help protecting your skin from darkening :)

To one of my readers, here is the FOTD you requested! :)

Base: I used MAC Studio Finish Concealer and Estee Lauder Double Wear Powder

Brows: Elizabeth Arden Eyeshadow in Topaz since it suits my current hair color

Eyes: Maybelline Volume Express

Cheeks and Lips: Benefit Cha Chat Tint

The key to this look is toning down the colors you use but still creating a quite polished base to maintain hints of sophistication. For the base, use only a concealer to hide your dark circles, redness and blemishes. Dab on your good old powder to minimize oiliness. For the eyes, keep it simple by just curling your eyelashes and putting on your favorite mascara. As for your cheeks and lips, splash a coral/tangerine tint because it looks more natural instead of using blush and lipstick.

Wear this look with a carefree disposition and notice how it emanates a bright chic vibe in you! Yay!

Cha Chat Tint from Benefit! I made a review on that last year. Check it out! :) Benetint and The Body Shop Lip and Cheek Tint are also worth a try. And just a quick advice on tints to make it look natural: Apply a little amount first then layer it to achieve your desired color. :)

Before I begin this post, I want to acknowledge Sheng for being a lovely reader of this blog. I remember her sending me sweet messages back then. Thank you, doll. :) I am a happy blogger when I read messages like this. Hihi.

And enough of the giddiness, let me start scribbling.

When I am not my usual sloth self, I take OOTDs to document my every outfit. But then again, I am a lazy kid. Lol.

You cannot imagine how much I love this ultra-comfortable outfit, I can even wear it everyday. Lol.

What I’m Wearing: black top from Forever21, lace cardigan from Hongkong, pj pants from SM GTW, slippers from Celine and tote bag from Christian Siriano.

Sometimes, I channel my sporty side too. Lol.

What I’m Wearing: shirt from Bench, white Short from bazaar, flat shoes from Lacoste and watch from Philip Stein

I still have a thing on orange. Such a fun hue! Lol.

What I’m Wearing: floral dress from K2 and sling bag from Stradivarius

Another OOTD last Philippine Fashion Week. I decided to go formal.

What I’m Wearing: nude cocktail dress from Okasyon, accessories from SM Accessories and structured bag from SM Accessories (This particular design will be released this September. Haha! *Shameless Plug*)

Black and White will always be my favorite trend and I remember wearing my different takes on this trend for two weeks straight. (I should have taken photos. *regrets*) And oh, second to PJ pants, maxi skirts are the most comfortable thing ever.

The Body Shop Moisturizing Lip Balm

What’s up guys? Haha. Yes, I am resurrecting my blog today due to unexpected encounters I had with people whom I conversed recently:

1. I had a consultation with one of our suppliers at work and I was surprised she told me told me she saw my blog. Goodness, I did not expect that.

2. My good friend tweeted me how she loyally checks my blog and asked me to update it.

Honestly, I felt giddy about it. Hahaha. Anyway, enough of that. Let me begin my first product review of the year.

I got this for free last June when The Body Shop had a promo wherein if you purchase a skincare product you will get a free makeup with the same price. Cool, right?

It comes in a somehow sophisticated lipstick packaging which might be one of the reasons why it costs PHP695.00. I honestly think that is a little expensive for a lip balm which contains only 4g of a product.

But perhaps, the following I shall mention would justify its price:

1. It does soothes your chaffed, dry lips in an instant.

2. My lips feel velvety soft after putting it.

3. It keeps your lips moisturize for 4-5 hours after application.

All in all, this is one of my most loved lip balms which is perfect if I am suffering from windburn. And here is my awkward-smile-photo wearing it. Of course, it does not show up aside from the fact that it gives my lips a little sheen. Lol.

So dolls, will you try this lip balm? Or have you already tried it? Share your thoughts!

Elf products offer cheap yet effective makeups. However, if you have a shimmery white eyeshadow and a darker face powder, those can substitute as highlighter and contouring powder. :)

I have been in a blogging hiatus for quite a long time, but for some reasons, I now feel the need of writing once in a while for this web space. So I guess I would begin again babbling about my make up goodies and looks anytime soon, eh?

Before proceeding on my first post of the year, let me just answer these messages I got.

Anonymous 1: I would, hopefully! :)

Anonymous 2: I used some of their products when I was younger. I like their lip gloss and eye shadows! :)

Anonymous 3: I seldom use sunblock. Mine is Nivea. As for clay mask, I haven’t tried one. Though maybe I would one of these days.

The first anonymous gave me an idea on creating this post. Hence, here is a series of OOTDs I had with few snippets of what I am doing lately. Lol.

I had a vacation lately in Palawan! A big hooray for wonderful rest days without any work.

What I am wearing: black top from SM GTW, sailor skirt from Landmark, buri hat from Palawan, shades and bag from SM Accessories (Gotta support your own goods! Lol)

Yes, I usually wear a party dress at work! Lol. And there is my company ID hanging and ruining my outfit picture. Lol.

What I am wearing: dress from an online shop, black wedge from Parisian, gold bracelet from Juicy Couture and gold vintage watch from Casio.

For a shapeless body, an illusion dress is a must. Lol. I love the color combination of this dress too. Not too dull, but bright enough to create an appeal.

What I am wearing: Dress from People are People

Some time in February, we checked in at Bellevue Alabang after work. And I had this moment infused with vanity.

What I am wearing: dress from H&M and black pumps from Parisian

And this my current favorite outfit for it channels the hubadera in me. Lol. I wore this to work, but of course, I had my cardigan to avoid unnecessary attention.

What I am wearing:beaded cut out dress from Supersale bazaar, black velvet pumps from Parisian and two-toned watch from Philip Stein

Drugstore Find Series: Elf Two Way Cake Foundation

I am not much fan of Elf, but I am thinking of changing my mind since I discovered this product. It is not my favorite powder but I find it decent enough to control the mass production of oil in my face and it is surprisingly cheap!

It comes in a simple black bulky packaging. The case is flimsy and looks like it is really made out of cheap plastic, but as long as it comes in black, I am fine with it. Lol.

I chose Pale Peach which has pink undertones on it because it somehow matches my skin tone the most out of the four shades. The powder is quite fine and a little chalky. And I was annoyed that I got little bumps from this foundation after a week of wearing it. But later than that, my skin began getting used to it.

But let us not dwell much longer on its negative side! Lol.

Well, I like this powder because…

1. It controls my oil most among all the powders I tried. Yes, even compare to my Shiseido Powder!

2. The coverage is light but you can do layering. This is a recommendable cake foundation if you only want to even out your skin. So in case you have a problematic skin you might want to put on concealer or liquid/cream foundation first to cover the blemishes before you apply this.

3. It has good lasting power too (4-5 hours on my greasy face)!

4. The silky matte finish it creates is unexpected! Damn, that it the thing I love about this product.

The sponge comes in the second compartment of the case with holes at the bottom which I find hygienic.

All in all, this is worth your PHP250.00! It may not be the most amazing powder out there, but if you are on the practical side, this is an awesome drugstore find! :D

And before I end this review, here are silly photos of me (with office mates) wearing this foundation during a party. After all the sweat and hours of guffawing, I am not too oily/greasy, am I? Lol.

I am the one in purple and that is my face while arguing. Perhaps, defending myself why I am not very fond of alcohols. Lol.

Eh I only want coke! HAHAHA

Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain in Rendezvous

I know what you have in mind… it looks like Clinique Chubby Stick and it works somehow the same! But never mind that fact, this is a good dupe for the chubby stick in a more affordable price. This particular shade that I am reviewing is also a dupe for Benefit Cha Cha Tint! I have reviewed that famous Benefit tint a year ago in this blog, just in case you want my opinion on it. ;)

Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain has a nice array of shades to choose from. But being a fan of tangerine color, I chose Rendezvous. It is such a pigmented coral/orange stain that gives your lips a nice flush. I use this for everyday since the shade is just subtle and not too strong. Though you can layer it if you want a more vivid color for your lips.

It is moisturizing enough to keep my lips soft and not dry the entire day with constant touch ups though. Lol. But still, I am surprised that it is unlike other stains that make my lips dry without a decent lip balm.

It is so easy to use too and you can apply it even without a mirror. And the awesome part is it only costs PHP575! It is a good price considering the quality and the packaging. Did I mention that a little goes a long way with this stain? It has such an awesome staying power too! Truly a drugstore darling, eh? :D

Lately, I have been trying out some drugstore products that might work for me. You see, I am trying not to spend much on high end make ups because I engaged more on a fashion retail therapy these days. Lol. It is actually kind of fun digging into inexpensive makeups that work wonders.

Discreetly Enchanting: BVLGARI Omnia in Amethyst

When I first smelled it, I kind of visualize this scent is for free-spirited yet elegant young women. It has this youthful fragrance but at the same time, it is also delicate and refined. I cannot say it is one of those ultra-feminine floral and powdery scents. It has the interesting mixture of floral and woods with hints of citrus that balanced the juxtaposition of a lady-like smell and an earthy adventurous scent.

Housed in an interlocking circle bottle like the other Omnias, I find this design aesthetically pleasing to my eyes. Though I wish the plastic material of the upper circle has a better quality.

The dominating notes are green sap, pink grapefruit, iris, rose, heliotrope and solar woods. At first, Amethyste is all about peppery-earthy citrus then it moves on to a lightly powdery blend of floral notes with vanilla undertones. The rose and iris are quite subtle. Give it a few hours, then the dry down somehow becomes light musky woods with a less overpowering floral scent.

Traces of fragrance linger on for at least six hours. Surprisingly, it lasts more than I expect. All in all, I love it. It is my everyday scent these days until I get tired of wearing it. Lol.
