I once had my fortune cookie state “You will prosper in the field of wacky inventions”. This really is the truth. It was one of those fortunes that I had to keep! I would imagine everyone has one lying around somewhere in a drawer!

What some people would consider ‘wacky’ have made others millions. I would love to have been the one to invent the Post It, the little plastic tip on the end of your shoe laces, or heck, even the Chia Pet! You know the stuff we all look at and say, “Duh, (insert head slap here) why didn’t I think of that?“

UNPLUGGED!

Back in the day when MTV really was all about music they also had (and still have) a show simply called Unplugged. Various artists would give performances of their electric, amplified music with only an acoustic guitar as their accompaniment. In my opinion, it got down to the heart and soul of the music.

Kowtowing

That term came up the other day here at Traders Press.® The whole statement was “Sometimes we have to kowtow to the princesses.”

My co- conversationalist looked at me like I was living in a tree! Which I do NOT! I am Queen of Dork Island, remember? (Ca-ching to the person that emailed me that answer)

My point is this: We all have to do things we don’t want to and we all make nice with people that we don’t want to. Period. How many times have we been at a certain super chain discount store and just wanted to viscously ram our carts into the person speaking loudly on a cell phone and standing in the middle of the aisle? (And yes, I did just say that out loud.)

But we don’t. Instead we smile politely, and—if you’re me—actually say, “Excuse me,” as if I’m the one in their way! KOWTOWING TO THE PRINCESSES!

We keep our emotions in check to keep our own little parts of the world running smoothly and ensure that we don’t actually inflict bodily injury on anyone or anything. We try to stay unprejudiced and play nice with others

Twisted, bent, warped, and battered and bruised. Even with all of our ‘war wounds’ we always need to stay true to ourselves.
