Day 26 at the ICU - Chong Hua

This morning, I woke up to blue skies with clouds in full bloom. As the sun slowly rises, the sky reveals a glorious symphony of peeking rays and soft light. It’s a beautiful day. :)

Today, as you’ve read, is the 26th day since my lolo got confined in the hospital. It hasn’t been easy but it also hasn’t been so hard. God really never gives us problems we can’t handle.

Tomorrow my lolo will finally be transferred to a private room without all the machines supporting him. He is currently on his way to recovery thanks to everyone who prayed with us and shared with our adversity. :)

It’s a beautiful day indeed. :)

Hello blog! :)

I missed you..but what can I do? Midterms and plates ate a big chunk of my spare time. Been so busy lately. Haven’t slept well in weeks too thanks to my forever arch nemesis, insomnia.I hate that foe. Seriously.

I’m just glad midterms week is over. One less hectic week for the semester and then back to reality once more. Ill just make the most out of my free days like today by simply sleeping & checking up on my little diary, this blog. :)

I hope I can have the time to blog about all the things that transpired in the last weeks that I haven’t posted. There’s been a lot going on in my silly life. You’ll be amazed to see most of my student life in the pages of my unpublished diary. I tell you school has reached the top spot in conquering my life. LOL but I’m not complaining. I love school. No, this isn’t sarcasm.

I’ve learned so much through the course of this midterm week. I’ve made things I never thought I could do and got things I never wished for. Although it wasn’t as perfect as planned, I’m still thankful for all the mistakes I’ve committed. It taught me lessons learned the hard way. Thus, I never ever forget them.

I can’t wait to share all my plates here especially animation. It’s the subject I dreaded the most. It just too depressing to pass crappy drawings especially when you know that’s all you can give. I never thought I’d finish it or at most make it move. I thank God for never failing me and for continuously providing me with more than what I deserve. :)

All the pressure and deadlines can never break me because if my problems are big, my God is bigger. Thank you for all the wonderful ideas Lord :)

Merry Christmas everyone!!!! :)

It’s my favorite time of the year! Everything seems so wonderful during the holiday season! Beautiful decorations, yummy (sometimes excess) food, friends, family and all that jazz define the beauty of Christmas! :)

Before the Christmas break, we were tasked to create an ad for Starbucks Holiday Drinks! Yum! And this is what I made. :)

This ad is centered on connecting the drinks with the joy and warmth of the Christmas season.

My message statement is: Starbucks Holiday drinks create special moments with friends & family. Christmas after all is all about the love, hope and the joy we give to other people. :)

Aaaand I also made another ad!! But upon submission, I figured the other one was more clean so I decided not to pass this. This was the first study I made! :)

I can’t help it, I just adore Santaaa! See previous post for reference! hihi

In a few hours, the sky will reveal wonders and colors I have always loved! Fireworks!! YAY Buuut I hope despite all the distractions there is, let’s all take a moment to greet the celebrant today…Jesus, Happy Birthday! :)

Through the Years!

What a lame title! haha But there’s no better way to say it than that! :)

It’s been 5 years since I made the best decision of my life. And I’m so happy I stood by it even when a lot of people disagreed. Sometimes you just have to put yourself out when you know it’s gonna be worth it. ;)

Quick lunch @ 30 kitchen! Both of us still got classes at 1:30PM!

The mushroom soup is to die foooor! I love it! A definite must try! :D

Hihi I couldn’t get enough of the soup! LOL you know me, I get happy over small things! haha

This is my meal! Chicken Pesto :) I didn’t order rice meal coz I was in a “diet” but then I realized this has more carbs than a regular meal. LOL But whatever, the flavor is pretty good and the serving size is quite big. I only finished eating half :D

And this is Kevin’s order! It’s bacon strips in bbq sauce if I’m not mistaken. It was tasty but too fatty. If you’re not on a “diet” this a perfect meal for you. ;)

Ate dessert @ La Marea! Warm brownie cup is <3.

And then after classes, we went to Ayala to chill. We figured it was necessary to eat ice cream coz it’s our anniversary so we went to Gelatissimo! I got the usual, biscotinno and kevin was again experimental and ordered a new flavor, white chocolate something. It was good but not as good as mine. haha!

And there goes another year filled with sugar, spice and everything nice!

21 Years of Happiness!

So it’s official, I’m 21!

I’m not sure if I should be happy or sad about this. Happy because of the gift of life & people I am blessed to have. Sad because I think I haven’t done enough to justify my age.

I know I should be more happy but in some ways I feel really bad about myself..for not living up to my expectations..for constantly being afraid to try new things..for being weak & unchanging…Somehow, I also want to change…to reinvent myself into a better & stronger person. I guess that would be my birthday wish. To change. :)

On the morning of my birthday (Nov 10) I woke up to find this delicious truffle cake in the dining table!

The dedication says, “Happy 21st birthday Jacque We love you”

My family and I drove to Opon to visit the shrine of Our Lady of the Rule (Birhen de la Regla). I’ve been praying her novena every time it’s my birthday. I thank her for always guiding me through life and unconditionally loving me as her daughter. :)

Dinner with the family! Good food + live band + beautiful view + great company = priceless memories

To my mom & dad (insert photo here), thank you for giving me life. I don’t always say this but I love you. At the time where I was so confused & unsure, you supported me all the way. You never doubted me nor judged me for the decisions I made. I may not be the best daughter..I may have disappointed you a lot but I promise to do all it takes to make you proud of me. :)

To my siblings, Aloha! hehe There may be ~~a lot~~ times I don’t treat you right and you probably hate me for always picking on you (especially you Patrick) but despite that, always remember that I am more than happy to have guys! I’m sorry for not being a good ate to you both. Blame this on my immaturity and refusal to grow up that I often times forget my responsibility as your big sister. I hope we could mend the bond torn by my carelessness. Gelatissimo? My treat! JK!

To Kevin, thank you for endlessly understanding me for almost five years now. You are not just a wonderful boyfriend but you have always been a true friend to me…I can even call you my best friend! You never get tired of listening to my rants, complains and sometimes nonsense talks I say to you. When I feel like giving up, you’re always there pushing me forward. Thank you. <3

You guys are probably five of the best gifts I ever received! I hope I never break you or something because I’d like to keep you all for a loooong time. ;)

Happy birthday to my one and only favorite sister in the whole wide universe, Vera!

She just turned fifteen last Friday. Coincidentally, she was chosen to be part of an activity in school where they get to wear that pink dress on her birthday. Me & mom skipped our morning class/work to show our support to Gummy Bears. I did her hair & make up while mom gave her uhmm moral support? Yep that’s the word.

Hi! This is one of our Art Direction Plate. We were tasked to design a packaging for a consumer product and brand of our choice. We also need to create a physical mock-up of the design we will be making in actual size.

I don’t know whats gotten into me that I chose to make a package for Trolli Gloworms. I had so many things in mind (cute girly stuffs) but in the end, I made this. Crazy weird. I don’t even like/eat Trolli. :D

So anyway, Here’s my output :)

My concept for Trolli was all about Medusa. Since Trolli is a product that sells gummy worms, I figured it would be neat if the worms had a queen. And what better queen for them than Medusa, right? Only this time, she’s no queen of snakes anymore, just plain o’l gloworms!

The template I made for the box! Made a bunch of mock-ups before I got it right!

I’m so happy it turned out the way I wanted it to be. It’s my 1st time making anything like this so pardon the lack of creativity in terms of the box. :)

Hello! Meet my friends! :)

Sy, Joy, Rachel, ME and Zach

We had a long list of plans that day but unfortunately almost none of it happened! :D We were supposed to get a full body massage somewhere in mango but we arrived in the city very late already. And then there’s this photo shoot for Rachel we were planning but it was late afternoon and the sun was out. :’( Blame showtime anniversary special! hehe Too bad, I really want to try the massage! :D

So anyway, we made revisions to our plans and decided to get a drink @ Chatime! It’s a very cute and pink cafe located at IT Park!

Weee our drinks! My order (not in the photo) was chocolate mousse with coffee jelly! Love it! So far that’s my favorite. I’ve tried their pearl milk tea and wintermelon mousse but sadly, I’m not a fan of it. It’s not sweet enough for me. This one is really a must-try! :D

Meet Sy and Rachel! Rachel was our supposed model for the day but due to unforeseeable events, I took only one ~~good~~ shot of her. I hope we can have a photoshoot before sembreak ends. *fingers crossed*

Meet Joy! My chicka buddy, super friend, laugh trip partner, sometimes chaperon and playmate ever since HS! She always brings out the kid in me. One of the reasons why I think immaturity is awesome! She makes it look so cool to be juvenile! :)

Hello Sembreak! :)

Finally! Time for some well deserved relaxation after the very aggravating yet meaningful semester!

In my opinion this is probably the best sem to date…not because I had a lot of fun or got good grades but because I am blessed by the gift of self-discovery and true friendship. :) Maybe it sounds too melodramatic but the truth is, it is a very painful discovery…but I know it’s all God’s will. :)

Apart from all the hysteria, I am still very thankful for all the blessings I have especially the gift of creativity. :)

This here is my Art Direction Plate. We were tasked to create a cover for a book we will be assigned to. I was digging for the “Alice in Wonderland” cover but I got “The Catcher in the Rye” instead. I thought I could well illustrate the Alice cover since I know the story and the feel of the book but on the other hand, I also wanna challenge myself to different genres of art. Not just the cutesy colorful stuff I always do. That being said, I welcomed the thought of doing the other cover without any hesitation or complains. :)

I never read the book, The Catcher in the Rye. Heck I don’t know anything about it! So I researched about it and found out it covers a very interesting and significant subject..self-discovery and growing up.

The reason behind the title is that Holden (the main character) pictures himself as the sole guardian of a group of children running and playing in a huge rye field on the edge of a cliff. His job is to catch the children if they come close to falling off the brink, to be a “catcher in the rye”. He dreams to save children from losing their innocence.

If you notice, my design is also based on that idea. I gave the bar code a special touch. I made it look like tall buildings because the setting of the book is at New York. :)

I personally love to read this book someday. It tackles most of my favorite topics and I think I can relate to Holden, a confused misunderstood teenager.

For now, my only wish is to live a life without regrets and to always smile..because there are so many things in life to be happy about. :)
