“Except you can’t show a topless woman on TV - and you can’t defibrillate a woman in a bra. So victims of heart attacks on TV are *always* male. Did you know that a woman having a heart attack is more likely to have back or jaw pain than chest or left arm pain? I didn’t - because I’ve never seen a woman having a heart attack. I’ve been trained in CPR and Advanced First Aid by the Red Cross over 15 times in my life, the videos and booklets always have a guy and say the same thing about clutching his chest and/or bicep.

And people laugh when I tell them women are still invisible in this world.”

I love this man

ThIs man has seen me get into UC Berkeley, get interviewed by the New York Times, move across the country…twice, give birth to our child, navigate our way through Rome, swim in the warm Hawaiian ocean at dawn, and countless other wonderful and horrible things over the past 6 years that we’ve known each other.

Four years ago today, we said our “I do-s” and began our life together as Mr. and Mrs. Cole. Here is a copy of the vows we wrote, and then recited to each other.

Before I met him, I never could have imagined that I would love, respect, and admire one person so much. But here we are. I am forever blessed to have chosen (and been chosen) to spend my days with such a peach of a man.

So, here’s to you Iron Davy Cole. Your intelligence, charm, humor, and debonairness continue to amaze and impress me. I wanted to write something more….insightful & appreciative, but our child has awoken from his nap and is having none of this “waiting for me to do my thing” business. So, I’ll just say I love you to the max. Happy four year anniversary BF.

Hello hello!
It’s been a quite a while dear reader. Today was the first day in a very long while, that I felt like posting something to this ole’ blog o’ mine. This picture is crap. I know this. I phoned it in, it’s true, but one needs to start somewhere. And here, dear reader, is where I choose to pick up where I left off.
As you may be able to tell from said crappy photo, I’m back in my beloved Golden State. New York was lovely, and magical, and also disgusting, and smelly, and a horrible place to grow a baby human inside of you. We left California, the two of us, and returned with one more. A son, bright and beautiful was brought into this world across the country from where I began my own existence. My son might be a New Yorker by birth, but I would be goddamned if he was going to be raised there. I mean, have you seen the Atlantic Ocean? It’s not winning any prizes in my book. So, back we came, with a baby and our two feline companions in tow.
This weekend we find ourselves in Santa Barbara. There is not a place on earth more quintessentially California than here.
So, you see, the photo is more of record of a moment in time. My purpose in starting this blog was to do just that. Hopefully you will forgive this lame excuse of an entry, and stick around for better pictures.
Onward darlings, ever onward.

In all the years I lived in San Francisco, I saw many, many things. However, I’m almost ashamed to say I never saw some of the local… I hesitate to call them celebrities, but I guess that’s kind of what they are. So imagine my surprise when on our recent visit back to the bay area I saw the immortal Frank Chu. We were rushing to meet some old friends for dinner & I was struggling to get my pregnant self up a San Francisco hill, so I opted out of taking a pic & honestly I was kinda bummed out that I did. That disappointment lasted about 2 minutes, because low and behold! Who did I spy shuffling ahead of me ( and at a much quicker pace, I might add)? These leopard clad beauties were tottering along and I knew I just wouldn’t forgive myself if I didn’t take a second to capture them. Hooray for second chances!
