Towards the end of the talk he mentions a phenomenon called “blood shunting”, which caused a tingly sensation in his feet and hands. Basically, your brain tells your circulatory system to bypass your extremities and instead send the blood to the vital organs. This sounds remarkably similar to what I felt when my food poisoning / stomach virus made itself known a few weeks ago. It’s one of the reasons why addiction continues to be a theme in some of our work; it’s such a perfect metaphor for both the inescapable pull of the past – the dangerously strong hold it can have on a person; strong enough, at the very least, to keep you stuck in one place – and perhaps even strong enough sweep you out to sea to drown. At the same time, like any drug, a memory can sustain you – providing intense comfort during dark times.”

- Dan Messe of Hem [via Shore Fire Media]

by Glen Brogan

by Glen Brogan

Whit Smith, the guitarist for Hot Club of Cowtown, plays...

Whit Smith, the guitarist for Hot Club of Cowtown, plays “Polka Dots and Moonbeams” solo acoustic.
