It is hard to pick just five. Today is the anniversary of one of the horrific attacks on America, but it pales to the harm caused the people of this country by a man elected to be our leader.
1. The Woodward tape reveal.
Can you believe your ears? Because you don’t need to read the book. This is A President who knew how bad this virus would be early and made decisions to allow people to die. The fact that he lied so as to not scared the public is a sign of how little he understands the strength and resiliency of the American people. We have faced adversity and fear before. Remember 9/11?
Did it work? President Trump lied and so we didn’t have panicked buying of toilet paper in March? I didn’t wait in line for the last cartoon of eggs and saw food shelf’s bare in my local Walmart? We didn’t spend March afraid of how bad it would get? Business didn’t closed and people haven’t lost jobs?
The only defense was that he didn’t know, the situation got out of hand, it snowballed and he didn’t know how to stop it.
But that would be the lie. He knew. He decided on a strategy of lying rather than of telling the American people what we needed to know, how bad it could get, and developing a plan of action. If we could have lost 40, 000 instead of 200,000 in the Spring and Summer would we, as Americans, felt it worth the sacrifice? Instead we didn’t stave off any of it…the dead, the economic downfall, the panic. We simply got told not to worried.
2. He is still lying about the COVID threat
Oh, come all Americans. Gather in masses without masks to chant for your leader who would see you die willingly. Who would see you die and stand over your grave and chant what a good job he’s done for you. Because the photo opp is the thing. The crowds that swell presents an image. You must die to fuel his ego. I guess you, his followers, feel it is worth this. You reach your hands to the sky, to this leader you elected, and you beg him for his lies. You want to stake your life on those lies and you want to die thinking you were better than any “China” virus and were too holier than thou to wear a mask. Let him have his photo opp. All hail to the King.
3. The fires in Oregon were not set by Antifa
As if the Western fires in the midst of a pandemic were just not bad enough, the lies circling about how the fires were set by black lifes matter and antifa have resulted in armed white militia setting up blocks and stopping folks. These militia groups are white supremacist terroists. Here is the truth. No one is coming to destroy suburbia. Black lifes matters isn’t about destroying suburbia. Not a stated goal. Its a lie spread by the man who wants you so focused on panic about the unreal things that it will keep you from the panic about the real things (see one and two)
4. Science is often right
Remember when Donald Trump told you that he didn’t believe in the science of climate change. It’s because he didn’t want to panic you. This is much like he doesn’t believe in the science of the COVID 19. But that’s what is causing the fires, and record hurricanes, and fire thunder and winter weather the day after Labor Day. Did it work? Are you in the Western states not panicking because you don’t believe it’s climate change? If it’s not climate change than it’s no big deal if people die and your homes burn, right? Or blame Black lives matter. Whatever. But ignore the science so you can’t be blamed for a complete lack of action. Getting the pattern yet?
5. The Justice Department as Trump’s Attorneys
Taxpayers are paying for Trumps defense against rape now? I don’t even know….He is not a king or a dictator.

Or is he? Have we lost the war we didn’t know we were fighting? Are the followers in number two, becoming the militias in number 3, and government attorneys now his attorneys and our liberty, our very liberty, is at stake. What is next? After the election,if he is elected will he allow us a vaccine to COVID only if terms limits are lifted and /or is proclaimed emperor? Paranoid? Well, I never thought we would be here.
Gee…no room in top five for how he feels about veterans, accusations against Biden using drugs to improve cognition, the whole Russian intelligence piece, or the Treasury department not sending allocated funding to the 911 first responders for two years.

Wrapping up Season Two: Blog 20 of Disability in the world of the X-Files series.

In the last five episodes of Season two of the X-Files there is only brief references to disability related issues such as wanting to take the little boy in The Căluşari to see a psychologist or that eating the flesh of someone with a degenerative disease might give you that disease in Our Town. In none of the last five episodes is disability and horror entwined.
As we end season two, it is worth noting that, while shows which are bad in season two are really bad, there are not too many of them. There are many wonderful things in season two for which The X-Files in 1994-1995 should receive some credit. A main character, Scully, sees a counselor on her own volition for her own mental health. Once the excellent Duane Barry explores the possibility that a person could have a mental health condition and, in fact, be an alien abducted, there was less of the theme established in the first season over whether or not Mulder or any abductee was in fact “crazy”. Humbug both spoofed and acknowledge that the show had a tendency to profile persons with disabilities as deviant criminals while demonstrating how easy it is to categorize humans as “others” or monsters based on personal appearance. Poor Mulder! Can you imagine going through life looking like that?
