Happy belated New Year! I know I haven’t had a recent contribution to the blog, but things got pretty busy for the Turf Team at Oklahoma State University this fall and into the new year. We had our 66th Annual Oklahoma Turfgrass Conference and Trade Show in Stillwater in Mid-November. Mr. Bob Randquist, CGCS, Boca Rio Golf Club gave the keynote address. The next two days were filled with educational programming from not only the turf team at OSU, but also several guest lecturers. Dr. Xi Xiong, Assistant Professor at the University of Missouri gave a very informative presentation about Zoysiagrass management in the transition zone. We also were fortunate to get Dr. Lee Miller, Assistant Professor at the University of Missouri and fellow turf blogger, to come speak with the group on the second day about using preventative DMI fungicide applications for management of fairy ring on golf greens. He also gave a great presentation about minimizing fungicide use through effective fertilizer scheduling. Thanks to the Mizzou Tiger Turf Team for your contributions. Also, thanks to the OSU Turf Team and the Oklahoma Turfgrass Research Foundation for working together to host a very successful meeting. After the conference...

A New Year and Winter Meetings

The unseasonably warm winter has prompted many inquiries about the persistence of fungicides applied for snow mold suppression. We have an experiment that is evaluating the persistence of two commonly used snow mold fungicides, iprodione and chlorothalonil. Basically we applied the fungicides to plots thatwe keep free of snow cover and ones that are kept under snow cover for the duration of the experiment. We take two cup cutter samples from each plot. One is used to determine the concentration of the fungicides using commercially available ELISA kits for iprodione and chlorothalonil developed by Horiba LTD. The other core is

Degradation of Fungicides in A Winter Environment

This course was planted to Salam seashore paspalum on fairways, but there are some patches of bermudagrass that have been gradually invading the

Dollar Spot and Mini Ring at Thailand

Before I head back to my homeland of Wisconsin (Go Packers!) tomorrow for Christmas I thought I’d write just a few summary notes from 2011.
