Next up, a spread and binding photo from Rachel and Brian’s October wedding in Port Washington. They chose one of my favorite images for their cover, one of my favorite brown leathers for the binding and back.

Kelsey chose a fitting red leather cover for their fine art leather album. She and Sunny look the part in a cover inset and this large book has many images from their two day Indian wedding at Woodbury Country Club.

I forgot to post photos of Matt and Jenn’s wedding last summer in Westchester. They went with a tooled black leather and metal cover. The black and white image they chose for the metal looks hot! It was hard letting this beauty go.

Next up, an album from Jessica and Keith’s September Brooklyn wedding – and it’s showing off one of our two new album offerings for 2012. The album envelope is custom made for the album it contains, in the same leathers or fabrics. It’s a beautiful presentation and I’m looking forward to seeing more envelope combos this year.

I’ve also got TWO albums to share from Jae and Susan’s wedding at Stage 6 Steiner Studios. They chose a fine art book rather than an album, and they had the photo cover wrapped book sheathed in a grey silk fabric. When you just cannot narrow down your choices to less than 100 images, this is the way to go. Below that, our sample of their wedding in a baby pink leather and canvas panel cover.

We have a few more albums on order that we’ll be sharing soon, as well as an announcement for our other new album product for 2012. It’s worth the wait!

I’ve made paintings from photos in the past, but nothing like this! Beth Thomas contacted us several months ago asking for permission to use some of Marina and Brian’s wedding photos as the basis for a painting she was making about their wedding. We gave her permission as it was a really great concept and we couldn’t wait to see the final product.

She made a beautiful keepsake for Marina and Brian, focusing on Marina’s custom-made dress and the handmade decor items from their wedding day. She has a great blog post detailing her inspiration.

We haven’t been posting here so often lately, which is mostly to be expected during a photographer’s typical “slow season” of the year. We’re still plugging away in the background finishing wedding and parent albums, printing and matting our fine art offerings and working on the stuff that most of our clients don’t know about, like marketing.

We’re also settling into a lovely life with our son, Finn. We’ve chosen not to share every photo we take of him on here. I can assure you there are many on Facebook if you’re interested! We love our little mister to death, and now that we have a bit more time to spend with him we’re really enjoying this time. These photos are a few weeks old already, but they perfectly express what I want to share this morning.

Priya contacted us just a few short months before her wedding to Khalid. They were having a multi-day wedding celebration and didn’t want wedding photographers for the ceremony due to how many press photographers would be present, but really wanted contemporary coverage of their wedding reception at The Addison Park. And so with that, Joe, Lelia and I headed down to Aberdeen for their very large wedding reception. It was a different sort of wedding for us, and no less colorful than expected. Their ballroom was packed wall to wall with guests their to celebrate their marriage in words. We cannot share all of our favorite images for religious reasons, but hope to share these for enjoyment!

First looks are always great, even when they’ve technically been married for a day already!

Okay, I kind of fell in love with her so very sweet grandmother!

Christin and Alvin’s wedding at the Los Angeles Intercontinental Hotel hosted a large mix of guests from all over. When it came time to choose where to marry, they knew that no matter what location they chose a good portion of their friends and families would have to fly. Much like Christin’s Priscilla of Boston dress which traveled with her from Boston first, then Hawaii, then Southern California, their guest list also included a number of states. They ended up choosing the beautiful hotel in West LA, homage to meeting each other at UCLA. They put together a great support team including Floral Fields for floral designing and coordination and their band, Soul of Los Angeles.

We’ve always loved photographing babies and newborns in particular, but having our own little one around has changed a few things in how we photograph. I love the crinkly gaze, the little squeaks, the wrinkly skin. And I know now in a more personal way how fleeting some of these things are.

I just spent some time telling Esther and Paul that I dread when a couple tells us, “We want fun picture!” because, inevitably, they aren’t people that look like they’re having a good time. Luckily, everyone was having an AWESOME time at Esther and Paul’s wedding. They are the perfect example of not worrying about when things go wrong and choosing to have an amazing wedding. And since their family took over bar-tending at the wedding the drinks were flowing straight onto the crazy dance floor. It was a day of great portraits, beautiful light, and a whole lot of laughter.

We met up with Katherine and Mike at Alta, their favorite restaurant. They had their first date there, they’ve been returning ever since, and that’s where Mike asked Katherine to marry him. It was a fitting start to their engagement session, followed by street wandering (our favorite!) and ending near Washington Square.
