i cut triangles with burlap, and used my silhouette machine to cut white iron on heat transfer vinyl

then i used the zig zag stitch setting on my sewing machine to stitch around the edges on the flag shapes so they dont fray and then turned the top over and stitched it, i then threaded jute string through the top each flag .

i spray painted 3 empty bottles then i used a glue gun, and started winding the jute string around it.

i kept adding a small amount of glue and wrapping the yarn on each bottle until the string was near the top.

then i tied a doily stamped clay tag to each one, and stamped the word spring on some brown paper and used a peg to clip it to the string from the clay tag. then i put some daffadils in them.

the heat transfer vinyl i use does not have a sticky back so its hard to transfer it and get it straight, so i found a way to do it, i placed masking tape in lines on to the fabric where i wanted the words to go so i could use it as a guide, then i used spray glue and sprayed it on to the backing which came off the vinyl, this bit you dont use, but its shiny so its not going to absorb the glue, i then lightly wiped the back of the letters into the glue and pressed them on to the fabric so that they didnt roll up and move when i covered it with a cloth to iron.

heres the shapes you need to cut

first take the long piece and fold the ends into the middle and succure it with a dab of glue.

then add the back piece of the bow, and fold the small piece around the middle and glue

and thats all it takes

chevron ruffled cushion

cut t-shirt fabric into long strips

then sew them into ruffles

because t-shirt fabric is stretchy it is really easy to make ruffles, you need to stretch the fabric out at the sides while pushing forward at the same time, this creates the perfect t-shirt fabric ruffles with out having to mess around pulling threads

then you need to pin the ruffles on to the fabric in a chevron pattern, i used a drop cloth for the rest of the pillow

the use the sewing machine to stitch them on.

doily stamped clay tags

i rolled out some air drying clay and placed a doily on top and used the rolling pin to stamp the doily patten on to it.

then i used a cookie cutter to cut out the circle and heart shapes, then i used a pin to make the hole

then i waited over night for them to dry and threaded some jute string on them

i made some love tags to using stamps to write the letters.

these would look cute on gifts, or shop items or even on favors

EIIR queen initials button pillow

first i used chalk to draw on the letters wanted on to the fabric, i have been making alot of england/queen themed pillows lately so i decided to use the queens initials EIIR

then i drew the letters on paper and arranged the buttons as i wanted them,

then i started glueing them on, with a glue gun, i was going to sew them but i was feeling lazy lol.

then i stitched it into a pillow

I got a xxl mans t-shirt, and a large s-hirt fabric shawl, and cut it into strips

for the white ruffles cut narrow strips then you need to ruffle them, i did this by, pushing the fabric under the presser foot of the sewing machine faster than it was stitching this gathers the fabric.

when you have made enough of the white strips, then make the main stripes in a different colour, these need to be wider for the main cross, then narrow like the white strips for the other stripes.

i used brown coloured t shirt fabric for the main part of the union jack,

then lay all it out in the union jack pattern, and then cut the pillow fabric to fit it, i used burlap

next you will need pins

first pin the main stripes to the pillow piece and sew it with the machine

then pin on the white stripes, making sure that the main stripes are not in the way.

then use the sewing machine again to stitch them on to the burlap

then cut the back piece for the pillow and sew it on and turn the right way and its finished. be prepaired to spare some time for this project, i dont no how, but it took me 3 hours, i have made alot more detailed things in less time lol i must of been in slow mode to be fair i did start it late in the evening. but it was worth it.

I did the bird patten on these curtains using a stencil, from Cutting Edge Stencils, i had planned to use the casablanca craft stencil for these curtains, but i received this bird stencil too, which they are giving away with every order, and i decided to use it.

stencilling is so easy with these stencils, and there is so many to choose from,

heres how i did my curtains

i taped the stencil on to the curtain,

then i put paint in to a roller tray, and i used a foam roller (which you can purchase along with your stencil) i put the roller in the paint and rolled off excess paint on the tray, then you need to roll the roller on to some kitchen towels as you dont want too much paint on your roller, trust me less is more.

then roll lightly over the stencil, not pressing to hard and repeat, the large all over stencils are designed in such a way that you can easily join up where you left off . and if that is not amazing enough they also supply you with a small stencil to make it easier to do the top and bottom of wall. and they have great videos and instructions on their site to walk you through it.

what you need

black felt

scissors

pins

cut out little mustache shapes with the black felt

put the pin through from the middle of the mustache and right through

thats all it takes to make these quirky little pins. im going to make some other shapes to but i seem to have mustache's on the brain lol i made them to go with my teacup pincushions

what with the diamond jubilee looming i decided to make this burlap pillow, i used heat transfer and cut it on my silhouette machine, instead of writing diamond jubilee i cut a crown image.

i made this mustache pillow last night using heat transfer vinyl. i cut the mustache shapes on the silhouette then ironed them on to burlap, and stitched it into a pillow. i have been sewing like mad getting some stock ready for the stall im going to be doing in march

tea cup pin cushion

i saw this cute little tea cup in the charity shop, and decided to make it into a pin cushion

what you need

tea cup

round piece of fabric larger than cup

stuffing (size of saucer)

batting (optional)

glue gun

needle and thread

doily (optional)

first you need to cut a large circle and the do a running stitch all the way around like the photo below
then you need to pull tight, and add stuffing until it is firm, then sew the bottom together

then place doily over the top, put some glue around the inside of the cup, and push the pincushion inside. and its done, i think this is the quickest project i have ever done but i love it. im planning to make more as im starting a market stall soon and i think they would make a nice gift idea, so im keeping my eye out for some pretty tea cups while im out thrifting

lace memo board frame

i picked up this frame for the tip

i painted it with white farrow and ball egg shell paint.

then i got this vintage table table cloth and cut it to fit the back of the frame

then using push pins i attached it to the back of the frame, pulling it tight so it does not sag.

then i got some white bakers twine and tied a knot, and put the pin through it then pushed it into the frame, then i threaded it though the front of the lace, and pulled it tight and then attached it to the other side.

i did this with a few more pieces of twine, then i printed off some pictures, i wanted them to look like old polaroid photo, so using an app on my phone i turned them black and white, and put the polaroid frame around it and printed them on to glossy photo paper, then i used pegs to hang them from the twine.

i have been wanting to make drop cloth pillows for a while, and my partner bought me home a bin bag full of them, so i made these really easy to make pillows.

all i did was stitch a basic pillow case cover. then using my silhouette i cut the numbers on to heat transfer vinyl

then i ironed the pillow case to remove the creases and any moisture then i put the number on, i placed a thin piece of cotton over the top to protect if from the iron. then it was finished a super quick and easy project. if you dont have a silhouette or heat transfer vinyl painting the numbers or cutting fabric numbers will work just a well.

ruffled drop cloth pillow tutorial

what you need

a drop cloth

a pillow insert

pins

scissors

sewing machine

first cut long strips twice the size of the pillow.

then cut the pillow case cover, using the insert to measure the size you need, and put to one side.

with the long strips of fabric, fold the rough edges over and stitch along the edge.

then when both edges are stitched, you need to make the ruffles, i did this by gathering the fabric, and pushing it under the presser foot of the sewing machine.

then you need to pin it on to the pillow piece along the middle

do the same with each strip of ruffles, i did 3.

pin evenly on the pillow piece then use the machine to stitch on

then you need to stitch the back part of the pillow on, pin the ruffles to one side so that it doesnt get caught when you are sewing.

then turn the right way out, and press the ruffles down with an iron, and put the pillow insert in and your done.

plantable seed paper tutorial

get a bowl, and tear up lots of paper in to small bits and fill it up,

add some water and soak it for 5 minutes, then put it in to a blender, and add a cup of water, put the lid on and press the pulp button, until the paper turns to mush like the photo below

then put this into a strainer and drain out as much water as possible, but still leaving it wet enough to stick together.

now its time to add the seeds, mix them in then transfer the pulp on to a tea towel and press it flat, spreading it evenly, you can use a rolling pin to flatten it, i then pressed the mesh from the strainer onto it to flatted it and remove excess water. then i gently removed it and put in on to some foil to dry.

leave it to one side over night, or as long as it likes to dry, while its wet, you can use cookie cutters to make shapes if you want, i dried it whole then cut circles, next i cut some cute tags on my silhouette.
then i used some glue dots to stick the seed paper to the tags

next i used stamps to write the words grow me, and used a hole punch and threaded some jute twine into it to make the tag.

i picked up this wooden cutlery tray for £1 at the thrift store down the road from where i live i gave it a few coats of farrow and ball egg shell paint, then i sanded it and stenciled on the word cutlery, the i rubbed over the writing again with some sandpaper, i lined the inside of the tray with dictonary pages. the got 5 of the little glass bottles for £ from a thrift store to.

i saw these scales at the recycling centre at the tip, and new they would great with a bit of spray pain, they were only a couple of ponds, i also picked up the tin of farrow and ball paint there, some one had thrown away a tin of it there was still 3 1/4 of paint it the tin (how wasteful for them, but how great for me lol). i also found this large gold frame so i gave that a lick of paint to, but im still undecided what to do with it, i thought about putting it on my mantle wall with my white twig wreath hung inside it or maybe i could attach lines string to the back and use it as peg notice board. if you can think of any great ideas for it let me know? because its stood against the fire place at the moment crying out to be used lol.

i also got this vintage lace crochet throw for £5.99 its huge i think im going to cut it up and make it in to some other things

i picked up this table for £4 while i was out thrift hunting yesterday

i used farrow and ball egg shell paint and gave it a couple of coats

next i used this image and printed on to freezer paper, i printed it as a mirror image

then i put it on top of the table and rubbed the back with a creadit card to transferd it to the top of the table.

then i used a pen to trace over the top of it, then i waxed over the top of it to keep the image where it is
