Christina Shipley’s Live Vibe Collective put on another stellar house concert in Austin Saturday night, benefiting Love, Hope, Strength, the world’s leading rock ‘n roll cancer foundation.

This night had a little bit of everything – gorgeous setting, great music, tasty tapas, and incredible music. Will Hoge even slung hot wax on his drummer’s nipples.

Waylon Payne opened the show with a heartfelt and entertaining set. Grammy-nominated Will Hoge followed, but only got through one song before rain forced the party indoors. Talk about fortuitous. 100 people all cozied up in our host’s sitting rooms, and all the love, warmth and great music you could ever hope for. What an incredible night.

As far as I can see, Christina’s batting a thousand. Live Vibe’s house parties for Love, Hope, Strength are always memorable. And it’s a great cause. Keep your ear to the ground for the next one.

Dave Madden and Wendy Colonna put on a great show at Threadgills the other night. The band was tight (as always) and the lovely Ginger Leigh and Noëlle Hampton brought the sweet background vocals.

Finally got together with John Pointer for a portrait session. John’s a blast to work with and I think we got some good stuff.

Matthew Mayfield and David Ramirez performed at a Live Vibe Collective house party in Austin benefiting Love, Hope, Strength, the world’s leading rock ‘n roll cancer foundation. It was a really beautiful evening with great food, cocktails and incredible music. Live Vibe house parties in Austin are always pretty magical. Look out for the next one.

The last time I saw the Fabulous Thunderbirds was back in the 80′s at the Astrodome, I think opening for ZZ Top.  No Jimmy Vaughn anymore of course, but Johnny Moeller was pretty damn good.

Joe Ely performed a free concert as part of the KGSR summer concert series at Uncle Billy’s.

I’ll be showing 10 peices at an art + music event this Thursday benefiting The Children’s Music Foundation. Will Taylor and Strings Attached will be performing, with piano man James Speer opening the show. I had the opportunity to do a portrait of piano man James Speer recently. He’s super talented with a really rich voice that falls somewhere between Bill Withers and Ray Charles. I’m definitely a fan.

Carolyn Wonderland and Will Taylor String Quartet joined Ginger Leigh at Flamingo Cantina in Austin on Thursday as part of Ginger’s weekly performance series Love at the Cantina.

I got to photograph renowned musician / composer / arranger Will Taylor at his home in South Austin last week. Will and I, along with musician James Speer, are participating in an art + music event on May 17 benefiting The Children’s Music Foundation. This session was in support of that event and to help promote Will’s new project, House of Wills – the music of Willie Nelson performed in the style of Bob Wills by Will Taylor and his group Strings Attached, all arranged by Will Taylor of course.

We had a lot of fun doing these photos, plus I was gifted a box of farm fresh eggs by Will and his lovely partner Karen on my way out. Good people, good times.
