Spam or “twam” as it is called, is becoming an increasing concern on Twitter and there are Twitter Apps For Spam that are currently being developed to help wipe out spam. Spam has become an ever-growing concern with the increased number of applications that are used for communications. However, Twitter has posed a whole new concern when it comes to spam because it is a broadcast system that enables you to quickly collect a lot of contacts outside of your usual circle of followers.

The primary problem with spam on Twitter is that the spammers use the @username to reply with junk messages and then they end up on your timeline. Although Twitter is working to come up with a solution to the problem, a number of software developers have been coming up with Twitter Apps For Spam that will help to combat this problem.

Twitter Apps for Spam

SocialToo: SocialToo recently announced a number of new and free tools that allow you to fight direct messaging spam. Twitter generally forwards an email message when a user receives a direct message. SocialToo replaces the default email messages with a customized email that allows Twitter users to flag another user as spam and then block any future messages that they try to send. SocialToo is also in the process of developing a spam filter that allows users to block direct message spam through a defined list of keywords.

TwitBlock: This is a new service that helps you screen out spam profiles from your list of followers. TwitBlock provides Twitter users with rating of different profiles that are above 20 which would most likely be an account created for spam. The problem is that it often blocks legitimate accounts but TwitBlock is currently working to improve the problem.

Topify: This application allows Twitter users to your email in Twitter settings with a Topify account. When an email is received it contains a snapshot of the sender’s Twitter activity which provides enough information to decide whether or not to follow that person. The application also allows you to respond to direct message in your email instead of having to return to your Twitter account to retrieve them.

TwerpScan: TwerpScan is a Twitter application that will scan through your list of followers and automatically flags the users who look like they may be potential spammers. The application contains a filtering option that you can set to help identify a potential spammer. The filter criteria are based on the number of followers versus the number who are following.

Tweepi: This application allows you to eliminate spam users through the use of data that is capable of revealing bots through ratios. The ratios measure number of tweets versus the number of RTs, as well as the number of links per tweets.

TidyTweet: If you are a website or blog owner this application allows you to customize Twitter content on your website or blog to block specific users and inappropriate content.

In addition to using Twitter Apps For Spam, Twitter provides information on their site on what is and what is not acceptable along with specific instructions on how to spammers.

Twitter Apps for Windows Mobile

There are many apps available so we will highlight a few of the most frequently used Windows clients here.

Social networking die-hards already know that Twitter is easy to use, so it is hard to believe there are apps that increase the simplicity of using Twitter.

Before you use Twitter Air Apps you have to make sure that you download Adobe Air 1.1 prior to installing air apps on Twitter. This is due to the fact that the apps depend upon Adobe Air to function. Let’s take a look at what some of these apps are and what they do.

TweetDeck

TweetDeck has the capability to take a significant number of Twitter feeds and break them down into smaller sized portions by allowing the user to split Twitter feeds into group category columns for improved viewing. The tweets are then viewable by column and will automatically update, which allows the user to keep track of multiple Twitter threads. The program is also customizable so you can create additional columns.

Universal Inbox

Universal Inbox allows you to store all of your digital assets in one location so you do not have to search endlessly for a document, photo, video, or other related files. Universal Inbox provides a way to store and view all of these applications in one folder with a convenient organizational structure.

Toro

Toro is a Twitter client designed to increase the speed of Twitter by allowing the user to load streams faster to access friends, create tweet replies and perform searches. It allows you to add links that are shortened while at the same time counting down the remaining characters from 140. There is also an arrow that provides a shortcut for sending tweets.

Spaz

Spaz is an open source Twitter Air App that can be used for Windows, Mac, or Linux and offers features such as direct messaging, tweet reply, CSS theming, and sounds that announce events. It provides directories of users you are following as well as access to a directory of your followers. The program installs in one shot and has all the features you can expect of a Twitter application.

Twitch

This is another Twitter client that allows you to automatically update your timeline and it combines tweets from your friends and tweet replies in one stream. It is capable of highlighting replies and has Tiny URL included in the user interface. Twitch also supports hashtags and direct messaging.

There are many other Twitter Air Apps available for download with more currently under development. Each app contains its own unique features and your preferences will depend upon whether you use them for individual use or running your online business.

When the Apple Store first began, there were only a few Twitter Phone Apps and now there are tens of hundreds. If you are overwhelmed by the number of Twitter phone apps that offered in the Apple Store, you are not alone. What makes it more complex is that some of the apps are good and some are not.

Let’s take a look at some of the Twitter Phone Apps that are the most popular:

Tweetie: Tweetie is a popular Twitter phone app that contains every feature you could possibly think of. It is capable of storing multiple accounts and contains a lot of bonuses. The innovative technology is capable of converting a full-featured to a mobile device without sacrificing quality. One drawback with the app is that it does not save tweets when you exit the app.

Twittelator Pro: This is the deluxe version of the free Twittelator and is packed with features that allow you to search, check other tweets, create groups of followers, set up more than one account, and create a friends list which makes it convenient to reply or send a message to someone immediately.

TwitterFon: This phone application is very straightforward and easy to use for common tasks such as searching, viewing messages, storing favorites, and uploading photos. It is capable of downloading thousands of tweets quickly and caches them when you close the app. Some of the drawbacks include the inability to set up multiple accounts and create a larger font size. Overall, one of the best Twitter Phone Apps out there.

VR+ Voice: This is a nifty app that provides an easy way to send a voice mail without actually having to call the person. You can record your message via MP3 so it can be played on any PC or mobile device.

TwitVid: This app allows you to tweet videos from your iPhone. It is a very simple app to use and you can post a video to your Twitter account within seconds. Simply record, tweet, and click “post.”

Twittervision: Instead of looking in on what your follower’s are offering, this app allows you to follow random tweets around the world and also see who is tweeting in your geographic location.

12Cast: All you need is a Twitter account to run this application. It is very easy to use and currently the most widely used platform for video by Twitter users.

TweetDeck: If you need a place where you can search, manage multiple accounts, create easy posts and groups, and share information, TweetDeck is very versatile and provides an all-in-one viewing deck for accomplishing all of your Twitter tasks.

Keep in mind that when you visit the Apple Store you will be overwhelmed with the number of phone applications for your phone. Not only are there thousands of apps for your phone there are a zillion free apps for other devices. Before you dive in and start downloading Twitter Phone Apps, consider your individual needs and preferences and then match them with what the different apps have to offer.

Twitter Search Apps are becoming increasing popular due to the social networking site’s ability to allow users to document and search real-time information. Twitter offers an innovative way to search updated information that sets itself apart from the searches conducted through search engines. Google and other search engines focus on indexing sites according to relevancy and content where Twitter focuses on real-time conversations.

Although Twitter provides a way to search when you log in, there are a number of Twitter Search Apps that will help to make searching more user friendly.

Tweet Scan

Tweet Scan at first glance looks just like another search engine. However, this tool is unique in that it updates search results every second and provides you with the most up-to-date information. Instead of simply providing a way to do basic searches you can filter your search to a precise username.
You may not have heard of Blip.fm, but it’s gaining a real reputation as being the Twitter For Music. With the meteoric rise of Twitter, there are many other sites that are trying to achieve the same effect by making small variations on the Twitter formula. Blip.fm is one of the more successful of these, and it stands a real chance of being the next big thing in social networking.

How Does It Work?

Rather than answering Twitter’s question, “What am I doing?”, users of Blip.fm answer the question “What am I listening to?”. While there are many people who are interested enough in music to use the site just for this, the real secret behind the success of Blip.fm is that you can choose to “listen” to someone, and the site will play all their songs for you as they listen to them. If you Blip all the right songs, you can get yourself a real following, and you have your own virtual radio station. Of course, this works two ways – you are also able to listen to the selections that other people make.

If you are used to using Twitter, you will have no problem using this new social networking site. The two websites look strikingly similar, and both have the stunning simplicity which makes everything so easy to use. This is one of the reasons why everyone refers to Blip.fm as the Twitter for music.

Blip.fm was an offshoot of Fuzz, a site that helps bands communicate with their fans, and it was never expected to be that successful. Now, its popularity is such that Fuzz are focusing almost all of their resources on it.

Blip.fm And Twitter

Although Blip.fm is the Twitter For Music, they know better than to try to compete with Twitter. It comes with options to send out tweets about your Blips, allowing Twits to do online advertising for them. Let’s face it, if you’ve put in the time and effort to build up an army of followers on Twitter, you don’t want to have to start again on another social networking site, do you? If you can get the word out to all of your followers, you can get them listening to your music, and even migrating across to the new site to see what all the fuss is about.

This move has really helped Blip.fm’s popularity, making use of the easy sharing of information on Twitter to spread the word about their own site.

Unfortunately, Blip.fm hasn’t been around for very long yet, so there aren’t as many handy applications and tools like Tweetdeck, but they are taking steps to make it easier for third party companies to develop these tools.

In the twin worlds of social networking and micro blogging, new sites pop up every day that last for a little while and then disappear. This is a site that isn’t going to do that. Blip.fm is here to stay, and it truly is the Twitter For Music.

Twitter is already massively popular, and growing quickly, so it’s no surprise that many companies are looking into Advertising On Twitter. Many people on Twitter have a huge list of followers, and if you’re one of them, Beamagpie might be a good way for you to earn some serious cash. After all, advertisers see that huge list of yours as potential customers, and they are rightly prepared to pay for the privilege of advertising to them. Beamagpie is a cutting edge service that acts as the middle man, bringing together advertisers keen to get involved with Twitter and Twits who are looking to make some money from their Twitter reputation.

How Does Beamagpie Work?

The brilliance of Beamagpie is its simplicity. Advertisers pay you to tweet their adverts to your devoted followers, in the hope that those followers will go and buy their products. You can control how often the adverts are tweeted, so you can be sure that you’re not spamming too much or annoying your followers. If people start leaving and your Twitter Follower Ratio goes down, you can always cut back on the adverts.

What Adverts Will I Get?

You don’t want to annoy your followers by spamming messages that are completely irrelevant to them, so it’s sensible to make sure that you get the right sort of adverts. The companies that are paying for advertising on Twitter will feel the same way – they don’t want to pay for adverts that are irrelevant to the end users. Beamagpie analyzes the topics that you regularly make tweets about, and chooses the right adverts for you and your followers.

If you love to twitter about travel, the adverts that you’ll get will be based on this subject area. Your followers will be people who are interested in travel, so they won’t mind you telling them about a few deals, and the advertisers will benefit because your followers will be more likely to spend money on a holiday to their destination. Advertising On Twitter works better for everyone when the adverts are well targeted.

How Much Could I Earn?

At this stage, there’s really no way of knowing. The amount of money that you make will depend on a number of factors. Obviously, if lots of people are following you, you will be in a better position than someone with no followers. The sort of subjects you like to talk about will also have an impact on your earnings, because different areas are worth different amounts of money to the advertisers. If you built up a following talking about the best car insurance deals, this would be worth a lot more than someone who only talked about their friends.

Beamagpie also offers different payment structures that you can choose from, depending on what you think will give you the most profit.

Beamagpie is a new service, and only time will tell whether it will be successful or not. However, Advertising On Twitter is an exciting new area, and is likely to be successful in one form or another.

If you thought Twitter couldn’t get any better or more convenient, then you’d be surprised to know that you even use Twitter Via Email. Read that again. In other words, you can use your email account to send updates to your Twitter account. How cool is that? You may now be wondering that with so many Twitter Tools and application, why the main Twitter site should exist at all?!

The tool that allows you to do this is TwitterMail. This article will outline a step by step guide to using this very useful Twitter application.

1.	Go to the TwitterMail website.
2.	Sign up to the service by entering your account username, password and clicking on the “Click your TwitterMail address!” button. This service will then proceed to create and give you a TwitterMail address.
3.	Once you’ve got this special email address, you can now start posting to Twitter Via Email. If you want to tweet a certain message, simply use your normal email account (whether it be Hotmail, Gmail or Yahoo) and send a 140 character message to the TwitterMail address. The body of that email will get posted to your Twitter account. It’s also best to leave the subject line empty when sending this email.

As you can see, it’s relatively simple to use. In addition, it is a free service which means that you can try it out for yourself today and see the benefits. In some cases, the message you wish to tweet may be too long and you may consider using a service such as TinyPaste in order to shorten your message.

Posting to Twitter Via Email is no longer some fantasy or pipedream and can be very convenient for you.

One of the most important pieces of data that should interest you is the Twitter Follower Ratio. This refers to the ratio between the amount of followers and friends (the people you follow). The reason why this is important is because it illustrates the influence you have on Twitter.

You can use a Twitter ratio tool to work out your ratio. It’s as simple as typing in the username of your Twitter account into the box and clicking on the “Get TFF Ratio” button.

Here are the general guidelines to understanding your ratio:

If your follower to friend ratio is less than 1, then this means that you are still looking to make an impact on Twitter. This is normal if you are just starting to use Twitter, however, if this ratio does not increase over time, then it could be because you are not being an attractive person to follow. Don’t forget that in social media, you have to socialize with other people to grab their attention and their love.

If your Twitter Follower Ratio is greater than 1, then you are beginning to get respected on Twitter and making some waves. This is a good sign but you can always move to the next level and become a leader.

If your ratio is greater than 2, then you are becoming someone people want to listen and becoming a leader in your niche. This is something that not many people achieve, but it is certainly possible! You might want to start dividing your followers into Twitter Groups to manage them better.

If your follower to friend ratio is greater than 10, then you are a big superstar. You must be some sort of celebrity to reach this kind of popularity.

While you may not be pleased with your Twitter Follower Ratio, keep in mind that it can always be improved and that hard work and persistence will pay off in the long run.

The reason why you would want to do such a thing is so that you can send messages to a certain group in 1 go instead of sending them one by one to each person. This is certainly more efficient and can save a lot of time and effort.

So how do you create Twitter Groups?

Fortunately, there is a great Twitter application just like Twitabit that does just that. It allows you to create groups and add followers to each group. It’s a very simple process. This is all explained below in the step by step guide:

1.	Go to the Twitter Groups website.
2.	Log into your Twitter account and follow @twgroups. This is a necessary step in order to register with the website.
3.	Register on the site by clicking on the “Sign Up” on the left hand side.
4.	Once you fill in your details, an email will be sent with a link to confirm your registration. In addition you should get a direct message on your Twitter account with the activation code to activate your account.
5.	Log into your brand new Twitter Groups account.
6.	Now you can either add followers manually or import them. If you wish to do it manually go to the “Followers” tab. If you wish to import them, go to the “Import Followers” tab.
7.	Once you’ve done that, go to the “Groups” to create your groups.
8.	After creating your groups, you should then click on the “edit” option of each group in order to start adding followers to those groups.
9.	Now that your followers have been designated into different groups, click on the “Group Message” tab to type a message to send a chosen group or separate users.

It’s as simple as that. And best of all, it’s free. Start creating your own Twitter Groups today.
