Summer is upon us and we have spend every free minute in the pool. The kids are gearing up for the last few weeks of school and are making big plans for the summer. It’s warm in the high 80’s almost every day. The pool has reached 80’sF and it’s the perfect spot to cool off, with a cup of iced tea.

While the kids had a blast splashing around I made my famous homemade Peach Mint Ice Tea to get them cooled off quickly once they get out off the pool. I love making this tea and keeping it in the fridge all summer long. I can control how much sweetness the kids will drink during the summer and I can also easily change up the flavor by adding different fruit. We have tried this with Strawberry and Blueberry and the kids love it, but the Peach is my favorite.

It’s so easy to make, I make a pitcher or two every night and keep it in the fridge that way we never run out of it. I usually buy the tea in bulk on Amazon (Affiliate Link) and keep it on auto ship during the Summer month that way I never run out. I pick up fresh fruit at the farmer’s market each week depending on what they have in stock or what the kids like and if all else fails we just add lemon or lime and enjoy it that way, too.

Simple drinks during the summer are my passion so you will find lots more fun drink ideas in the weeks to come, I’m trying to cut down on Soda or eliminating it altogether and by making my own drinks the kids can get involved and will drink it most likely instead of soda.

Another fun twist I like to do sometimes once I have the tea ready and chilled is bring out my Sodastream (Affiliate link) and add some carbonation, the kids think they are drinking soda and I love knowing that they are only drinking what I want them to drink. I personally love the added carbonation, too. If you haven’t tried it, I highly encourage you to do so, it’s amazing even with fruit juices. Totally brings me back to my childhood, we weren’t allowed to drink any kind of soda at all, ever! We had a Sodastream and my grandma would always make me her homemade fruit juices with the carbonation, ahhh… The Memories… Who needs soda, right?

It’s time again for our monthly #CreativeHop. I hope you have enjoyed all the fun recipe and craft ideas that myself and my group has shared over the last few months. This month was a fun theme, we will be sharing Summer Time. Dishing up Lemonade and a snack.

Summer time can be so many different things from a beach craft to a super cool recipe, I know my #CreativeHop group will have you busy all summer long creating, baking and cooking for your entire family and all that in style.

I decided to dish up a fun dinner or even snack idea that will be loved by everyone. I’m making Frozen Strawberry Lemonade and Grilled Loaded French Fries.

Yes…!!! I said Grilled French Fries. Trust me, you will love it! It’s simple, fast and soo delicious. For those of you that are saying “Ewwwe fries on the grill? Won’t they get soggy?” let me assure you, they will be crunchy, hot and probably the best thing you have made on the grill besides a burger.

This summer you don’t have to turn on the oven at all, let your grill do all the cooking. My family raved over how amazing the grilled fries were so check it out, try it for yourself and be sure to come back and tell me if you think these were the best thing ever!

There you have the Grilled Loaded French Fries, don’t they look amazing? Let me tell you, they taste and smell just the way they look and you can mix up the toppings any way you choose. Like sour cream? Add some, like pepperoni? Add some. You get the idea, it’s so much fun and the kids will love it!

I can’t dish up a fun dinner without a drink. My kids always have to have something to drink at the dinner table, so this time I surprised them with a Frozen Strawberry Lemonade. It was delicious and when I say simple, I really mean simple. Check it out below.

There you go, a quick, fun dinner idea complete with grilled French fries and a frozen drink, add a burger and call it dinner; or… leave the burger off and call it lunch. Either way you twist it, you will be pleasantly surprised.

Fast forward 20 years and we are still huge Lightning fans in our home and when I heard the news that the Tampa Bay Lightnings were celebrating their 25th Anniversary this year I was very proud to be a fan. A few weeks ago, at the Amelia Arena Plaza Thunderbug unveiled the Coca-Cola’s Tampa Bay Lightning 25th Anniversary Limited Edition Glass Bottles. I was in Aww over the announcement  and had to set out to find a six pack of my own. Those are so cool!

I was told that the limited edition six packs of glass bottles will be exclusively sold at participating retailers in the Tampa Bay area. I found a display at my local Publix. Be sure to grab yours before they are gone. They defiantly will not last long!

What can be better than being in Florida, enjoying the sunshine, an amazing state of the art Arena, a star Lightning team and a cold Glass Bottle (Exclusive Limited Edition ) of Coke in your hand??? Well, here we are the end of February and by now most of you probably have ditched your Healthy New Year’s resolution. I usually do, too. This year I made a change, a commitment to stay healthy an entire year and so far I have felt much better. I also teamed up with Premier Protein to get you this sponsored content, however as always my ideas and opinions are my own.

So far this year I eat better, I have more energy and overall things are much better. My son loves to work out with me and he is a great motivation for me. A few tips I wanted to share with you are below, so check them out and see how you can get back on track with your New Year’s resolution so this year will be the best year yet!

My 5 tips to keep your New Year’s Healthy resolution going all year long

1. Keep it simple. Don’t try to make extravagant meals or fancy recipes. Keep it simple with fresh veggies, protein and if you are in a bine, grab a Premier Protein’s ready-to-drink shakes for on the go. Don’t overthink it, just keep it simple and it will be easy to keep it going all year long.
2. Meal Prep. This is a big one, I prepare all my snacks, lunches and drinks on the weekend for the entire week. I place all my Premier Protein’s ready-to-drink shakes, my fruit & veggies in my fridge in small container so I can just grab what I want and pack on my way out the door.
3. Take 10 minutes twice a day and walk; whether it is to take the kids to the school bus or taking the dog for a walk; 10 minutes twice a day is a great start and you will not miss that time.
4. Drink plenty of Water. For some reason drinking plenty of water is very hard for me, I have to make a drinking chart every day to keep track off how much I drink, very hard but so worth it.
5. Eliminate sugars. Try to reduce sugar as much as you can. Add fresh fruit to your diet to eliminate the craving for sweets.

These are my 5 simple ways to stay healthy all year long. So far it is working out and you will see after 90 days it will be like a routine and no longer feel like you have to work hard to stay healthy. Things will get easier, just don’t give up.

Try to keep a bottle of Premier Protein’s ready-to-drink shakes in your purse to eliminate the fast food run during lunch or while sitting at the Soccer field watching the kids exercise. It will be your new BFF. I love having simple solutions for on the go and Premier Protein (my favorite is Chocolate but they actually have more amazing flavors like Strawberry & Cream, Caramel, Bananas & Cream and Vanilla) makes it really easy to keep me on track.

Oh My! I’ve lived in Florida close to 20 years and not once did I go to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. Sure, we always had it on the list of things to do just never made it. It is an hr. trip one way from our home. Let me tell you, it was the best decision we have ever made! We took my daughter last week for a Family day and surprised her with a visit to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium and to visit Winter & Hope. She had no idea until we pulled into the huge parking garage adjacent to the Aquarium.

We were greeted but friendly volunteers telling us how to park and how to get to the ticket counter to pay for our parking and pick up our tickets. Always a smile on their face and ready to answer any questions we had.

During the tour of the Aquarium we learned a lot of amazing tidbits about the Movie “Shark Tale”. We love the movie and watch it often so it was awesome to see almost the entire set still being used at the aquarium and most of the animals are all still there to visit. This was mind blowing. We learned so much about the care of the animals, releasing an animal and the residents that are permanently at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, like Winter and Hope the Bottlenose Dolphins.

The place looks great, lots of things to do with the little ones and lots to see. I loved the Sting Rays, you can even touch them and in the Winter Wonderland they introduced Winter to the crowd. Over at the Otter arena we got to see how Cooper and Wallie hang out and have fun all day and not too far from the Otters is Ricky a/k/a Rufus the Pelican. Walking through the Aquarium it truly felt like we are in the movie, every corner, every room had some appearance in the Movie Shark Tale or Shark Tale 2 and it was a lot of fun to point out those areas.

Christmas Time is a Magical time at the Aquarium and there are a lot of extra activities you can enjoy with your family like:

• Get your photo taken with Winter Claus
• Experience a Winter Wonderland with lights and decor
• Enjoy special Santa dive presentations
• Extended holiday hours on select dates
• Sea of Lights Boat Cruise available during extended hours. Sea of Lights will run from 4 p.m. – 9 p.m. on select dates with $9.99 admission starting after 4 p.m. The Sea of Lights Boat Cruise will take you around Clearwater Bay to see the holiday lights by boat.

We also took the Sea Life Safari Boat Tour, that was breathtaking to say the least. It was about 90 minutes on the beautiful intra-coastal waters and we were able to see Dolphins, birds and lots of other sea life. The tour guides were amazing and very friendly as well.

Halfway through the tour the guide dropped a fish net into the water. We witnessed data collection in action as they performed the net pull and they pass around sea creatures before releasing them back to the bay. It was super cool We found Jellyfish, real life Jellyfish!! Each trip is unique and so worth a trip!

Our Sea Life Safari  also dropped us off at an Island and we spend a good 10-15 minutes on an Island called One Tree Island, it was so cool. We had time to relax, search for sea creatures, shells and just soak up the beautiful few. LOVED it!!! Do I need to say more??

The Sea Life Safari was AMAZING. I cannot say enough about the entire trip to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium and the Sea Life Safari Tour, you totally have to make a trip to Clearwater to experience it all for yourself. I can not believe we have never gone but we totally will be back very soon.

I love the mission of the Clearwater Marine Aquarium:

“We believe in preserving our marine life and environment while inspiring the human spirit through leadership in education, research, rescue, rehabilitation and release.”

It is an amazing place to see and learn. Clearwater Marine Aquarium is a non profit organization so most people you will see there are volunteers that love what they do and love helping these amazing sea creatures. Nothing but friendly faces, lots of smiles. Our Tour Guide Allie was wonderful, friendly and oh so knowledgeable.

While spending the day at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium you can also grabbed a 20 oz Coca Cola product to stay cool, after all we are in Florida and Winter (the Season winter) is nowhere in sight.

Now go and see Winter & Hope and have an amazing day with your Family while enjoying some Holiday Festivities. As I sit here, thinking about how blessed I’m to have a wonderful Family, great Friends and loving readers that enjoy my recipes and value my opinions, I also started to think that healthy meal options are very important, especially this time of the year. Who want’s to skip that cookie or piece of cake every time, right? Well, no worries I teamed up with Gorton’s Fisherman to share a quick and easy meal idea that you can make in under 30 minutes with very little prep time. Did you eat all your Turkey and Ham plates the last few days? I know I’m guilty, I had an early Thanksgiving meal with my kids, that’s a tradition we do every year a few days prior to the actual Thanksgiving day where I dish up a huge meal with lots of side dishes just so the kids can be with the rest of their family on Thanksgiving Day, especially since the boys have been grown and started dating and families of their own it makes things a lot easier if we celebrate early. Benefit for me, I get to see the kids without the “Oh we have to run” excuses.

But after all the Turkey and Ham is gone I have to admit I’m kind of tired of the leftovers and ready for a fresh, clean new dinner and this is when I started to look to Gorton’s Fisherman products at my local grocery store. Trust me, I was full after two! My husband who is counting his Weight Watchers Smart Points was very happy with how tasty it was, how full and satisfying it was and how low of points he used for this delicious meal.

You can mix it up, add different veggies, add Hot Sauce to the Avocado Lime dressing and of course add the Gorton’s Fisherman Fish creation that you like to make it your own. It is super easy and very filling. I love the Smart Crunchy Fish Fillets, they cooked perfectly and if I didn’t know better I would have said they are pan fried, they were that good and crunchy! Less fat and still all the goodness, total score!!

Wasn’t this a great idea? It’s so refreshing and light after a day filled with hearty meals and side dishes, it sure was a welcome change and one that we will dish up more often in the next few weeks. It’s almost Thanksgiving and I spend a lot of time in the kitchen cooking, baking and preparing for the kids to come over for a visit. Let me tell you, the last thing tonight I want to do is cook a meal for my husband and the kids. I’m tired, I did have a lot of help from my Bellini Kitchen Master, that was amazing! Baby it’s getting cold outside! Well, at least in most of the Country. Florida decided to skip this year and keep it summer time. At least Thanksgiving will be in a few weeks to make us feel festive and gather with family and friends. In Germany we kick off the pre-Christmas celebration which we call “Advent” Season by burning one candle every Sunday, starting with the 4th Sunday before Christmas. That is a tradition that I love to do with my family each and every year on Sunday during our Family Breakfast.

Another tradition is St. Nikolaus day, we celebrate that on December 6th when St. Nikolaus walks from house to house and brings goodies like this Sugar Glazed Lebkuchen or these Chocolate Cone bags with Chocolate a Nikolaus. All you have to do is have the kids clean their shoes really really good and put them by the front door the night before and St. Nikolaus (aka Mama) will fill the shoes with goodies. My kids love this tradition and the one time a year my kids love to clean their boots.

Advent Calendar is another very fun tradition that my kids love. We either buy an Advent Calendar online or make our own every year. We pick up goodies and fill the calendar for each child. It will shorten the way for Christmas and is a tradition I love to share with the kids every year and for years to come.
