<p>This post contains actual pennants that were made with the Stampin' Up! Exclusive Pennant die for use with the Sizzix Big Shot, BigKick &amp; the new Big Shot Pro machines.</p>
<p>To create these pennants you will need the following tools.</p>
<ol>
<li id="">PN 113483 - Stampin' Up! Pennant Die
<li>PN 113439 Big Shot Die Cutting Machine (Or the BigKick or Big Shot Pro)
<li>PN 113478 - Extended Cutting Pads
<li>Alphabet Dies of your Choosing to create letters.  These letters were created using the Plantin SchoolBook cartridge and the Cricut Expressions. </li>
</li></li></li></ol>

<ul>
<li id="">Two piece of 8 - 1/2 " x  9" for the creation of the Pennant in the color or pattern of your choosing.
<li>Additional piece of paper for creating the letters. </li>
</li></ul>
<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline">TIP</span></strong>: The tip regarding the pennant die is to use old remnants from stamp dies to create alignment edges along the side and bottom of the pennant die edges as shown below.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.stampthings.com/.a/6a00e55285346a88330120a8b313a4970b-pi"><img alt="Alignment" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a00e55285346a88330120a8b313a4970b " src="http://www.stampthings.com/.a/6a00e55285346a88330120a8b313a4970b-500wi" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN-LEFT: auto; MARGIN-RIGHT: auto" /></a> </p>
<p>These alignment edges allow for consistent and accurate die cuts.  Be careful placing the remnant die pieces.  Don't worry they are easy to remove if you need to remove them or move them.</p>
<p> Instructions</p>
<ol>
<li id="">To create the pennant, fold the 8 - 1/2 " x  9" (or larger) piece of paper or card stock in half to yield a 4-1/4" x 9" (or larger) folded paper.
<li>Place 1 to 2 pieces of folded paper on top of one another, make sure that the folded edge is aligned against the long edge of the pennant using the alignment edges described in the above tip.  I've found it best to cut 2 at a time.  You may be able to do more.
<li><a href="http://www.stampthings.com/.a/6a00e55285346a88330120a8b344d1970b-pi" style="FLOAT: right"><img alt="Layers" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a00e55285346a88330120a8b344d1970b " src="http://www.stampthings.com/.a/6a00e55285346a88330120a8b344d1970b-120wi" style="MARGIN: 0px 0px 5px 5px" /></a> To create the top layer of the pennant, trim the pennant along the perforated lines.  If you don't want the perforated edges on your finished pennant, trim the edges just a smidge on the inside of the perforations.<a href="http://www.stampthings.com/.a/6a00e55285346a88330120a8b34303970b-pi" />
<li>Unfold the die cuts and glue them together as desired.
<li>Place large eyelets in the upper corners of the pennant.
<li>Create and attach letters to each pennant as desired.
<li>String pennants together with ribbon or desired string to complete pennant. <br /> <a href="http://www.stampthings.com/.a/6a00e55285346a88330120a8b3407d970b-pi" /> </li>
</li></li></li></li></li></li></ol>

<ol>
<li id="">Cut Chipboard to desired size of Journal.  Do not punch holes for the spiral binding in it as shown in the picture above with the supplies.  It is best to punch these holes last.  Using the Bind-It-All will be shown in Part II.  For this project, the 9-3/8" x 9-3/8" Chipboard was cut in half to yield two - 4-11/16" x 9 3/8" piece of chipboard.  Don't worry about the funk measurements.  Here is a tip for cutting ANY rectangle in half.<a href="http://www.stampthings.com/.a/6a00e55285346a8833012877a47457970c-pi"><img alt="Cut1" border="0" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a00e55285346a8833012877a47457970c image-full " src="http://www.stampthings.com/.a/6a00e55285346a8833012877a47457970c-800wi" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN-LEFT: auto; MARGIN-RIGHT: auto" title="Cut1" /></a> <br /><a href="http://www.stampthings.com/.a/6a00e55285346a8833012877a47756970c-pi"><img alt="Cut2" border="0" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a00e55285346a8833012877a47756970c image-full " src="http://www.stampthings.com/.a/6a00e55285346a8833012877a47756970c-800wi" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN-LEFT: auto; MARGIN-RIGHT: auto" title="Cut2" /></a> <br /><a href="http://www.stampthings.com/.a/6a00e55285346a8833012877a48222970c-pi"><img alt="Cut3a" border="0" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a00e55285346a8833012877a48222970c image-full " src="http://www.stampthings.com/.a/6a00e55285346a8833012877a48222970c-800wi" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN-LEFT: auto; MARGIN-RIGHT: auto" title="Cut3a" /></a> <br />You only need to score one side of the chipboard.  It will break apart as you bend it back and forth.  In step 3 we will sand the sides smooth, so don't worry about the ragged edges.
<li>When applying paper to chipboard, it is best to allow for some overlap.  Cut the paper larger than the chipboard.  Apply an even coating of Tombow Multi Purpose Adhesive using the Broad tip adaptor.  Center the paper over the chipboard and rub the paper to help it appear and work out any bubbles. <a href="http://www.stampthings.com/.a/6a00e55285346a88330120a8a205f4970b-pi"><img alt="Adaptor" border="0" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a00e55285346a88330120a8a205f4970b image-full " src="http://www.stampthings.com/.a/6a00e55285346a88330120a8a205f4970b-800wi" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN-LEFT: auto; MARGIN-RIGHT: auto" title="Adaptor" /></a> <br />
<li>Using a craft knife or scissors, trim the excess paper from around the chipboard one side at a time. <a href="http://www.stampthings.com/.a/6a00e55285346a88330120a8a20438970b-pi"><img alt="Trim" border="0" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a00e55285346a88330120a8a20438970b image-full " src="http://www.stampthings.com/.a/6a00e55285346a88330120a8a20438970b-800wi" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN-LEFT: auto; MARGIN-RIGHT: auto" title="Trim" /></a> <br />
<li>Use a sanding block to light sand away those ragged edges.<a href="http://www.stampthings.com/.a/6a00e55285346a88330120a8a20cad970b-pi"><img alt="Block" border="0" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a00e55285346a88330120a8a20cad970b image-full " src="http://www.stampthings.com/.a/6a00e55285346a88330120a8a20cad970b-800wi" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN-LEFT: auto; MARGIN-RIGHT: auto" title="Block" /></a> <br /><a href="http://www.stampthings.com/.a/6a00e55285346a8833012877a4a964970c-pi"><img alt="Edge" border="0" class="asset asset-image at-xid-6a00e55285346a8833012877a4a964970c image-full " src="http://www.stampthings.com/.a/6a00e55285346a8833012877a4a964970c-800wi" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN-LEFT: auto; MARGIN-RIGHT: auto" title="Edge" /></a>

<p>When my oldest childs teacher mentioned that she would like to do a holiday craft with the class, I was delighted and knew just what I wanted to do.  Something with those cute "Build a Bear" dies!  I love the idea of Mrs. Claus being a part of the project!  This is the project that I brought to class.  The kids instantly turned them into Ornaments for their Christmas Trees. </p>

<p />

<p>    117977    Stampin' Up! Bear</p>

<p>    117978    Stampin' Up! Beary Essentials</p>

<p>    117980    Stampin' Up! Beary Merry</p>

<p />

<p>The card stock used to create these precious little bears included:</p>

<p>    102514    Creamy Caramel,</p>

<p>    102482    Real Red,</p>

<p>    102851    Basic Black &amp;</p>

<p>    101650    Very Vanilla.</p>

<p>Kits were create for each bear.  </p>

<p>Mr. Clauses' (Santa Bear) kit included</p>

<p />

<li>A small Rectangle of Basic Black (~1/4 " x ~3/4" )</li>
</ol>
<p />

<p>Mrs. Clauses' Bear kit included</p>

<p />

<ol>
<li>Bear</li>
<li>A Very Vanilla Cap</li>
<li>A Real Red Cap (trimmed along the perforation marks)</li>
<li>A Very Vanilla Coat</li>
<li>A Real Red Coat  (trimmed along the perforation marks)</li>
<li>A Real Red Skirt</li>
<li>2 - Basic Black Shoes</li>
<li>A small Rectangle of Basic Black (~1/4 " x ~3/4" )</li>
</ol>
<p />

<p />

<p>As these kits were for Kindergarteners, the die cuts (excluding the bears) were turned into a sticker using the Xyron 500 Create a sticker Machine using the 18' re-positionable adhesive refill.  This allowed the children some flexibility in creating their bears.  Here is the bear that my 5 year made.  It's not perfect, but it means a lot to me.  </p>

<p>I had an amazing time with the kids that day.  I am smiling as I think about it now.  I can't wait to create more bears with them this coming school year!</p>
