The exact anniversary of the Volkswagen Type 2, known affectionately as the Microbus or just the Bus, is open to interpretation. Volkswagen says it’s 1947, when Dutch VW importer Ben Pon first sketched the design. You could argue it was 1949, when CEO Heinz Nordhoff approved production. Or you could say today is day because the Bus as we know and love it — split windshield, rounded front bumper that hugged the body, woefully underpowered engine — was produced from March 8, 1950 until 1967.

Happy Birthday Bus... 60 years old on March 8, 2010. And somehow, you seem so much older than that. Make sure you link through to the Time Magazine article, lots of great vintage VW Bus pics.

On the site for the business, I found this killer shot of the truck. There is also a thread on The Samba talking about it... sweet ride and a fun show.

I hope the show is a success and that they have enough recorded for the rest of the season....
Dude... help a brother out. He's got 5 bills set aside for a VW project and you know you aren't going to get more than that for that POS late model bay window sitting in your back yard. I know you paid $2500 for it but you screwed up... the market will not come back. You will not make your money back no matter what you tell your wife. Let this guy have it. C'mon, its good karma.
