366: Day 149-155

Took a quick walk to the shopping center near work during my lunch hour. Look at the pretty flowers and don’t mind my right big toe which got slammed in an elevator door at my grandma’s place when I was four. I spent a couple of weeks wearing my cousin Christopher’s big brown sandal and my toe nail hasn’t been the same since. Not because of the sandal but the big bang.

More feet. Sorry people. I looked at the weather forecast and since it wasn’t looking good (rain all weekend) I decided to do a bit of painting in the evenings after work until the rain hit on Thursday.

I ordered plants online and they arrived early which was a nice surprise. That tall one is a Cherry Laurel and it’s going in a pot at the front of the house. Those other three in blue pots are "Endless Summer the Bride" Hydrangeas. They’re going at the back.

Finished painting the wooden extension and put the house numbers back up. Still need too paint the door and window trim and windows. As soon as it stops raining.

Friday flowers. I always make sure I have fresh flowers on Fridays. I clean house after work and then bring out the flowers. A nice start of the weekend.

A couple of teenage girls came around offering fresh bread on Saturday morning and I of course took them up on it. I wish they’d come by every weekend!

Saturday was all rain so I worked indoors. Sunday wasn’t a whole lot better but I still decided to get planting and working in the garden. I planted the hydrangeas, lots of snowflake catnip, a peony, some Veronicas and those two pots at the front which were given to me by my neighbor after watering her plants when she as away, they are Japanese orchids!

The Hose(s)

Lookie! How pretty is this? Back in March I saw this hose in a magazine and I quickly e-mailed the agent to find out where I could get one. Turned out she sold them online and I immediately ordered two sets. One for the front of the house and one for the back.

So as several of you pointed out after seeing this photo there are white ones available.

And here it is ready and plugged in. La-la-love it!

The Hand Rail & Banister

As you can see the banister and the handrail to the basement stairs needed a little TLC. Crusted up old paint and rust used to be the name of the game.

That’s until I got out my all-time favorite power tool, the mouse sander. Little mousey got working and quickly gnawed off all the old paint and rust. Knew I could trust him!

And a couple of licks of paint later, tadaaaa!

I chose a grey metallic instead of the original black which I had first intended. The reason being that the mechanism of the awning is aluminum and a similar color and since I’m going to stretch awning fabric between those two narrow bars I wanted the whole thing to match the awning. I think it turned out great. Now I just have to wait for the weather to go bad so I’ll be inspired to sit in the basement sewing.
