Unlike other chains like Brooklyn Industries, Urban Outfitters or Gap, if an item sells well at American Apparel, chances are it will continue to appear on the shelves for years.

Debuting two summers ago, the overwhelmingly popular Cotton Spandex Jersey Bandeau Dress has created a sea of multicolored extras from Feist's "1,2,3,4" music video. Still featured as the first dress listed on the website, it can be seen on at least three girls at any one time in any neighborhood, from the the East Village to the Upper East Side. Sold for $36 and in 19 different shades, the dress can be worn in at least 15 different ways (even as a shirt and a skirt). The dilemna: Does one buy the $36 wonder dress, or back off because everyone and their mom, younger sister and cousin in England own it.

If you do decide to go through with the purchase, here are some tips for wearing it:

1. Strapless- Top-heavy girls, be careful with this one. Unless you like to attract attention, avoid publicly exposing yourself by wearing a V-neck short sleeve shirt underneath the dress. You get the style without the embarrassment.

2. The Skirt- If you like the skirt look (which can be suitable for a casual work environment), buy the dress a size larger than you normally would. You'll regret eating lunch otherwise.

3. The Shirt- To be honest, even in a large those curvier than a size 6 may have trouble wearing this style. But no one's missing much … the fabric bunches up underneath the arms in a less than comfortable way. Sometimes a dress should stay a dress.

Only one more day until Earth Day! Celebrate early by doing what you do best ... shopping. From now until April 25th, Loomstate and Barneys are teaming up to save the earth with a dose of fabulousness. Bring in your old, gently worn T-shirts to Barneys and receive a 20 percent discount on Loomstate's eco-friendly fashions. The old T-shirts will then be refashioned (with dyes and prints) into something much trendier than your original "Senor Frog's" souvenir from spring break 10 years ago. The hip, recycled shirts will then be sold during the Holiday 2008 season, with 1 percent of sales going to charity.

This is the face of hip! No, not broken hips, but cool vintage threads. In case you haven't seen it yet, we've released our Best of Citysearch results and I named the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Thrift Shop as my fave vintage shop. Sure, it's not as hipster chic as fantastic new contender Fox & Fawn, but the combo of designer donations, totally eclectic selection and good cause (the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center) made me stray from the LES-Williamsburg vintage nexus just this once.

Check out the results:

Our intern Jacqueline Wasilczyk visited the new flea market in Fort Greene on Sunday.

Despite gusty winds and the promise of rain, last Sunday over 15,000 bargain enthusiasts flocked to Bishop Loughlin Memorial High in Fort Greene to witness the much anticipated opening of Brooklyn Flea, the largest outdoor market in New York City. Organized by Brownstoner blogger Jonathan Butler, this weekly gathering of roughly 200 vendors looks to be the most promising hope of reviving the dying flea market scene (stay strong Chelsea market). With popular craft and jewelry standbys (Etsy and Ericar Weiner) and an abundance of graphic tees from the likes of Junkprint and Loyalty & Blood, the market wasn't lacking in items to browse through, but it did deviate from traditional offerings. In future months look for a more balanced blend of vintage furniture, knick knacks and good eats. Until then, bring your own coffee, browse the goods, and buy with your most ironic friend in mind.

Brooklyn Flea will be every Sunday from 10am to 5pm, on Lafayette Ave between Clermont and Vanderbilt Ave (at Bishop Loughlin Memorial High).
