All three girls are OBSESSED with dancing, and we spend lots of time at the dance studio these days. I am still getting over the shocking idea that children that are genetically mine can be graceful and coordinated. Who'd have thought it possible?
India wanted a blue cake, so I made her a blue cake. I'd love to say India did the decorating, but it was all my work.

Yesterday afternoon was India's camp show. She played Princess Sunshine in "The Unhappy Princess," and she and her fellow seven-year-olds were awesome. After the show, she wanted to buy herself some flowers in celebration, and these are the flowers that she chose:
Our family's Tooth Fairy is named Gladys, and we were told that she had retired, but, happily, this is not the case. She is still on the job! We know that Gladys is not real, but we like to pretend that she is. India would like you to know that Gladys's assistant is named Misty.
A few weeks ago, we schlepped the whole gang into the city to see a play (Peter and the Starcatcher--awesome!). I spent a good part of the train ride talking to the girls about what to do if we were separated in the city. It occurred to me that India does not know our cell phone numbers by heart, so I wrote them on her arm with a ballpoint pen. Imagine how much more stylish she would have looked wearing a bracelet with beads that "spelled" out my phone number!
And yes, that's my cellphone number, in case you feel like calling to say hello!
Last night I dreamt that my father was not dead, but was simply taking an inordinately long time between breaths. In the dream, I was relieved, but also very embarrassed because I had told so many people that he had died, and now I'd have to call them all back and tell them that he hadn't died quite yet.
My sister had a dream that my father had had two secret illegitimate children. And their names were Zac and Nora Ephron.
