Hi everyone.... I have decided to shut down my blog.  I was going to wait until June but decided to do it now.  All my time is being taken up making cards for Operation Write Home and for my church.

 

This has been a fun experiment but now it's over.  Onto other things and adventures.  Who knows I might start another blog some day but for now it has run it's coarse.

Hello Stampers and Friends.........

I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year holiday with your family and friends.  2012 ended on a high note for me.  I spent the holiday with wonderful and generous friends.  Generous with their gifts and especially their time.  That's important ....to spend time with the people who mean the most to us.  None of us are getting any younger.

 

The last last time I blogged I said I would let you in on my plans for 2013.  Besides the usual getting healthy and exercing ....isn't that the same resolution every year?  I really do have to spend much more time and attention to my health.  I think back to Jerry Garcia's (GratefulDead) "If I knew I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself".  I joined the Medicare Club on Dec 31st.  I know, I know it's just a number.  I might think like a thirty year old but I'm finding I can't do some of the things I used to do.  I think the trick is learning to accept one's limitations.

 

Well enough of that.......

I have made the decision not to continue with my blog when it expires in June.  I can't devote enough time to blogging daily or even weekly to do it right.  I thought blogging would be fun but it's difficult to think of something creative, interesting or cleaver every day.  I don't know how these daily bloggers do it.

• I'm devoting my creative time to making more cards for Operation Write Home.  Even though our time in the Middle East is winding down....we will never be without solderies somewhere in the world away from their families.  I have read letters from the soldiers thanking OWH for the cards.  They are so grateful and so are their families who receive the cards.  If you want more information you can Goggle Operation Write Home or go to their website www.operationwritehome.org.
• I have recently joined a church, St. Bart's Episcopal Chruch, and will be making cards for pastoral care.  I have also volunteered to do baking for Memorial Services, after-service coffee hour etc.  I love to bake and I certainly can't eat it ..I can bake for other people to enjoy.
• Also thinking about making cards to sell.  I would like to find a couple of gift shops to handle my cards.  I'm looking into Esty too.  That's an online craft store where artist's can sell their work.

Next time we meet I hope to have some OWH cards to show you.  It will be a different approach to stamping for me.  I normally make 'one of a kind' cards.  This time I will be making cards in groups fo 10, 15 or 20.  OWH will take up to 30 of one design but I thin that would be a bit much forme.  It would feel like an assembly line.

Hello friends, fellow stampers and non-stampers!

Merry Christmas and welcome to my Christmas blog post. 

I really thought you would have heard from me before now but funny how time slips away.

Still busy with the house and getting it ready for Christmas plus making cards and tree ornaments.  Frankly, I don't know where my times goes.  I got more stuff done when I worked a forty-hour week. 

I've been dealing with S.A.D. (seasonal affective disorder) recently.  The longer I'm in the Northwest the worst it gets.  The first two winters weren't so bad but this year hasn't been much fun.  Vitamin D3 supplements, sitting under a SAD light for 30 minutes each morning and exercise helps a lot but when you are depressed it's difficult to get one's butt out the door to go for a walk or get to the gym.  It plays havoc with my creativity too....so that's why I haven't been blogging lately.

Today I would like to show you some of the cards I made.  Finally got them in the mail today 12-12-12 (we will never see that date again!).  I also took a couple of photos of my tree and Santa Collection.  I hope you enjoy.

These are two of my favorites this year.  I love working with printed papers and Hero Art stamps.

Also another favorite.

These were fun to make.  Used Memory Box die called Bubble Joy #98190 and then used shiney and glitter paper behind the cutout letters.

Who doesn't like snowflakes ...well people in Arizona I guess.

Santa Collection.  Small but getting bigger every year.  One Santa, the one saluting, I have had for 20 years. He was my very first.

My tree.  It could use more ornaments but for years I've had a three foot tree sitting on a table.  In this house I wanted a bigger tree.  Next year there will be more ornaments.

Looks like the witches are ready for the little kids tonight.

Glad they are ... I'm not.  I didn't buy any candy for fear of eating it.  I bought a witches hat and I was going to really do this but my new neighbors said we don't get many kids so I thought what's the point.  I don't need all that chocolate sitting around.  So as usual I will be sitting in the dark watching TV.

 I finally made a couple of cards to put on this blog.  I've been having a heck of a time getting in the mood to stamp.  I have to go searching for everything and by the time I find what I'm looking for ....the mood goes away.  Thank God I don't do this for a living.  Sooner or later this new studio will get comfortable and I will know the location of all my stuff.

Here is Little Lulu and her cat Marmalade.  She's ready for Trick or Treating.

 

Here is a spooky card I was going to enter in a Halloween contest at a local stamp shop but didn't.  The last night to enter was Oct 30th but I didn't feel like driving in the rain.  Maybe next year.

Hi Everyone, today (October 15th) was the day I planned to get back to my blog but I'm running behind about a week.  I'm putting the finishing touches on my new studio.  The custom desk was installed last week and the shelving is going up later today.  All the supplies are in the walk closet and all I have to do is finish up a few things and decorate.  I hope you will bare with me.  I have really missed crafting and making cards.  It's about the only thing that keeps me sane.  I need my creative outlet.

Fall has finally come to the Northwest and it's beautiful.  We had a wonderful and dry summer.  Until the other day it hadn't rained in over 100 days.  It was so nice to see the sun everyday.

I will be back soon with photos and hopefully a card or two.

Hello everyone.....

I've been having a hard time getting in my studio to make cards. You see I'm in the process of buying and moving into a new home. It's becoming overwhelming....so I have decided to take a break from stamping and blogging for a while....at least two months.  I will be back in October.

Hello Everyone ....... Happy Friendship Day

I looked up the definition of the word “friend”.   According to Webster:

1. A person whom one knows, likes, and trusts.

2. A person whom one knows; an acquaintance.

3. A person with whom one is allied in a struggle or cause; a comrade.

 

According to articles I have read, there are many types of relationships and they may be hard to classify. Some are situational friends, some casual friends and others are close friends.  Then there are best friends.  To me a best friend is someone who knows all about you and likes you anyway!   You don’t get many of these in life.  My Mother told me to choose my friends carefully.  If you have one or two really close friends in a lifetime, consider yourself blessed.  I am blessed.

I have had many friends in my life, all types of friends, two-legged and four-legged.  Some stayed only a short while and others have stayed a long time.  Some went away and returned. Some left and never returned. Some are in Heaven!  They all have taught me some sort of lesson in life.  Most of the lessons were good but some were bad but even the bad ones taught me something as well.

 

Today’s card is in celebration of Friendship.  I raise a glass in honor of my friends.  Whether the friendship has been smooth or had some rough times …your presence is/was cherished. 

 

Remember your friends today and as often as possible.

Greetings Everyone..........

 

I have a flower card for you today.  I want to apologize for it being crooked.  I can't wait for the day I have a decent size studio so I can photograph my cards properly.  The day is coming....just don't know when.

 

Things are bit crazy around here these days.  One good thing is the "noisy" neighbors are finally moving this weekend.  I will be dancing in the streets!  When they were on vacation I finally got a chance to relax for the first time in the 18 months they have lived upstairs.  I have come to the conclusion that I'm not an apartment person.  Maybe someday that will change.

 

I found a photo of a "relaxed" cat that I have to share.  This cat also looks like Sammy which is why it caught my eye.

Now that is relaxed and confident!
