Yes, I bought it for myself, but I feel the same excitement opening up a box of ordered fabric as I do on Christmas morning.
The anticipation of finally seeing the colors in person, feeling the weight of it in my hand, the way it just sits there...plump with possibilites.
Just as good as a wrapped gift with something completely surprising inside. Sometimes...better.

The paper boats absolutely kill me. And birds on the birch trees are from the same fabulous designer, Isabelle. Check out all her designs. I love them all.
The yellow flower fabric is by Caitlin Youngquist. Again...no brainer...had to have it.
The groovy waves are by Kari Kail.
Now these are from another package from Pink Chalk Fabrics. I don't know if you can tell from my photo but those are hands on a baseball bat and red balls. The bicycles are even more unbearably cute in person.
I'm even excited by these Kaufman Kona solids in Snow, Eggplant, and Coal. What a geek I've become. Are you with me?

Lights and decorations have started to go up! I love the big Christmas balls from Target that we hung from the trellis.
I am starting to love gray. Not gray skies, really, but gray stuff. Especially mixed with yellow like in this fabric I just ordered from Scarlet Fig:

These are really just gratuitous photos of Beckett playing in the backyard. I'm not even showing you much yard. But it was fall-ish and he was wearing a flannel shirt and I couldn't help it.

I am teaching a holiday gift sewing class for kids on Thursday afternoons until Christmas. This is our first project. It' is essentially the Scrap Wrap scarf from Denyse Schmidt Quilts.
Here is my sample:
And here are 3 of the kids' scarves. Pretty cool, huh? I precut all the strips for them, mainly from Moda Arcadia with some Amy Butler and Riley Blake thrown in for good measure. There was a definite curvy thing happening as they sewed the strips together but I kind of like it.
I was lucky enough to take a class at the Urban Craft Center with quilt guru Alissa Carlton of Handmade by Alissa. It was quite freeing to realize there are so many ways to piece blocks... and even mistakes can be cool! It was great to hang out with other women who are just as obsessed with fabric and can relate to my mania.
