Baby it's cold in Oslo

It may be cold here in Tennessee, but US President Barack Obama got an icy reception in Oslo. Obama's approval ratings are dropping below historical lows for any president. His base is angry with him over Afghanistan, health care public option, and other things. The Black caucus is angry with him. Arabs around the world are disappointed with him. Now the very people who awarded him the Nobel Peace Price are fed up.

Obama flew into Oslo (probably left the jet running for a quick getaway), collected his award, gave his speech (which didn't please his base at home or the audience who seemed to be sitting on their hands rather than applauding), ... no press conference, no staying around for the gala concert in his honor, and no attending a dinner with the King of Norway. Norwegians are incensed over what they view as his shabby response to the prize by cutting short his visit.

According to a poll published by the daily tabloid VG, 44% of Norwegians believe it was rude of Obama to cancel his scheduled lunch with King Harald, with only 34% saying they believe it was acceptable.

"Of all the things he is cancelling, I think the worst is cancelling the lunch with the king," said Siv Jensen, the leader of the largest party in opposition, the populist Progress party. "This is a central part of our government system. He should respect the monarchy," she told VG. (UK Guardian)

No self-respecting woman would

No self-respecting woman would stay with a husband who repeatedly cheated on her with a minimum of 11 women over a two year period while she carried and delivered him two babies age 2 years and 10 months. Yet, that is exactly what Elin Nordegren Woods, wife of Eldrick Tont Woods, a/k/a Tiger Woods is planning -- to stay with him for the children. Riiiiight. Only if you spell children m-o-n-e-y. Rumor has it that Elin and Tiger's fans were the last to know of his infidelities but it was common knowledge among many.

... she is devastated by the extent of his alleged infidelities but plans to stay married.
A survey by respected pollster Rasmussen Reports shows only 38 per cent of Americans now have a favorable opinion of Woods, compared to 56 per cent a week ago, soon after his extra-marital dalliances started leaking out. Two years ago, Woods was enjoying an 83 per cent approval rating. (Daily Mail)

Congress meddles in college football

A House subcommittee approved legislation Wednesday aimed at forcing college football to switch to a playoff system to determine its national champion ...
The bill, which faces steep odds, would ban the promotion of a postseason NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision game as a national championship unless it results from a playoff. The measure passed by voice vote in a House Energy and Commerce Committee subcommittee, with one audible "no," from Rep. John Barrow, D-Ga.
"With all due respect, I really think we have more important things to spend our time on," Barrow said before the vote, although he stressed he didn't like the current Bowl Championship Series, either. (continue reading at AP, hat tip R.J. Godlewski)

Most sports fans I know want this change to a playoff system in college football, but is this really the business of congress, and don't they have more important things to do?

They don't seem to have time to investigate the Fort Hood Islamic terrorist massacre by Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, oh no. But they do find time to investigate the White House party crashers.

They don't have time to investigate the climate-gate hoax, which will cost this country and individual citizens money we do not have for something that does not exist. No no no time for a world-wide scam.

So good to know they have their priorities in order.

Congress is no better than Tiger Woods. Seems his sponsors are getting fed up with his arrogance and immorality just like American voters are getting fed up with politicians getting fat off the working people and failing to listen to our wishes.

Perhaps congress could investigate the controversial Muslim speaker invited to Ford Hood to whitewash Islam.

Wait until you see the part about how they say that Muslim speaker Dr. Louay Safi was vetted. If they would of did a simple Google search, they would of known about this man. “Dr. Safi has served as Executive Director and Director of Research for the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT).” For the record IIIT gave their stamp of approval to the Islamic Law book that I mention just below. Once again our military leaders have outdone themselves!
Did Dr. Safi tell the truth about jihad? Of course not.

Christmas In Iraq

In December 2008 Iraq celebrated it's very first Christmas complete with Santa Clause, decorations, trees, gifts. I was fascinated with this celebration in a Muslim country. Again this year Iraq celebrated Christmas, calling it Jesus Day. God bless those Iraqis. From Baghdad Iraq I give you Jesus Day:

On the banks of the Tigris, Santa Claus -- wearing a tatty red robe, stringy white beard, and frightening caucasian mask -- was being mauled by children as he tried to pass out some trinkets. Poets on a nearby stage recited odes to Jesus, beneath a massive banner emblazoned with Christ's image.

Watching over the artists were hundreds of heavily armed security officers, lining the closed street around the park and dotting the rooftops of nearby buildings.
This is what is known as "Jesus Day" (officially the "Master of Souls" festival) in Baghdad.

It was the second annual festival but the first to feature Christian imagery so prominently. Like other religious minorities, Christians in Iraq have found themselves the targets of militants in recent years. There were groups from eight churches in Baghdad invited to the festivities and they were brought there on buses for their own safety.

Unrestricted Arrogance.

Some people have so removed their lives from that of ordinary citizens that they cease to understand the very concept of humanity. President Barack Obama is just such a person. So, too, is golfing legend Tiger Woods whose name admirably coincides with his beastly disregard for the sanctity of both women and marriage. However, as I do not play golf, drink Gatorade, wear Nikes, or drive Buicks, I will concentrate on discussing the former. With the president, citizenry binds me.

Just over a year ago, I went on record stating that I believed that then-Senator Barack Obama showed the traits of being a sociopath. The President’s first eleven months in office prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Mr. Obama is very anti-society in both words and deeds – anti-American society, that is. His ideologies are certainly “social” in nature; we just need to add the suffix “ism” to clarify his disturbing intentions.

Any human intelligence (HUMINT) specialist worth his or her salary needs neither a polygraph nor a biography to understand the character of a person they are examining. Contrary to popular opinion, we all progress through the same linear model of maturation. We all go through the same phases of childhood, adolescence, rebellion, and maturity that I wrote about for an upcoming issue of American Intelligence Journal. What separates John Q. Public from Joe Q. Public, is that we also endure asymmetrical influences, which run the gamut of education, work experiences, heroes, expectations, desires, religion, fantasies, etc.

Fortunately, the whole of the human body is as much a transmitter as it is a sensor. That primal sensation of erect hair that warns us of impending danger is merely the reception of what others transmit. Long before transportable fire and light emitting diodes, man had to “sense” what lurked within the night. His concept of survival was measured in days if not hours. As modern man found himself entitled to 76.8 years of life expectancy, we lost that ability to perceive other’s intent. Well, most have.

The trick to understanding one’s foe is to address the issue of their animation – their body’s physiology. In my new AIJ article, I wrote about how cameras are beneficial in capturing these subconscious fragments of human existence. It is why we rarely find a photograph of us that we truthfully like – our eyes are closed, we look too old or sickly, etc. The body’s fluctuations are too quick – and too varied --- to be caught by our conscious mind much as the granulation of the sun’s surface is ignored by the human eye as its surface intensity saturates our optical nerves. Nevertheless, the nearly infinitesimal palpitations of another’s body do not go unnoticed by our own subconscious thoughts.

Everything that a mechanical polygraph can describe, a keen human intellect is better suited to analyze. It is a talent that modern professional gamblers nurture and Wild West gunslingers relied upon. The meeker literally inherited the earth – their bodies rotted away upon it.

President Obama’s spiraling poll numbers reflect this primal gift of ours as the “honeymoon” period is definitely over. Our more capable subconscious gut instincts have finally decided that our conscious desires for “hope” and “change” were just too stupid for our own good. As the human maturation process generally does not solidify until the late thirties, it is equally revealing just how many people younger than thirty have (and still do) supported the president.

Infatuation is never a substitute for trust. It is what makes us equate an extraordinary golfer with an extraordinary human being. Or a talented performer with a talented parent. Or even a sitting president with a devout patriot. The conscious mind simply cannot address the myriad of decisions that are needed to survive and so it leaps to conclusions detrimental to our well-being. Those who have ditched the primal instincts of our hunter-gatherer forebears simply choose the path of least resistance. President Obama obviously understands this.

President Obama cares so little about the citizenry under his care that he does not even validate their existence with commonality. His speeches are stuck on eternal campaign mode as if we cannot possibly understand that we have already given him the job. He has surrounded the Oval Office with dozens of “czars” to shield him from making decisions that his constituency wants made. He has consistently made more effort to win the appreciation of the world than of his own people. His economic policies now demand payment from literally generations of nameless descendants. All of these conspire to remove him further from the individuals that he serves.

Observe closely, and you will see a president who cares very little about you or your family. During speeches, his posture resembles that of Benito Mussolini – and for a reason. He is always looking down at you, never providing you with an opportunity to glance adequately at his eyes. His use of the ever-present TelePrompTers is two-fold: he is always looking away from you just when you might catch his facial expressions; and, by reading, he is conditioning his posture to forestall any transmission of his thoughts. Look again, you will observe very little true emotion emanating from this man.

The astute have already detected his consolidation of power away from the Court and Congress; the Census, the EPA, the IRS (embolden with the prospects for new taxes), all efforts to enforce Executive power above representation. The more power vested in The One, the less that YOU have a voice. Already his press secretary – a job that entails answering questions – refuses to answer (or even admit) prominent news organizations. If absolute power corrupts absolutely, what of absolute arrogance?

Democratic Party pollster and adviser Pat Caddell said recently on the Glenn Beck Show that he had never seen America so riled over those in Washington. I hope that he is correct in this assessment. I hope that you are all so infuriated over being manhandled by our servants in Washington that you demand action – now! If we so detest athletes who cheat on their spouses, why, then, do we permit servants who cheat on us. If we are not faithful to liberty, nothing else matters. If we are not faithful to the Constitution of the United States of America, nothing else exists. Arrogance is no match for integrity, but are you a match for Washington?

Obama administration getting a little testy

President Barack Obama's approval rating is at 47%, the lowest of any president at this time, according to a Gallup poll. How does the White House respond?

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs mocked the reliability of the widely respected polling firm.

"I tell you, if I was a heart patient and Gallup was my EKG, I'd visit my doctor," Gibbs said. "If you look back, I think five days ago, there was an 11-point spread, now there's a 1-point spread. I mean, I'm sure a 6-year-old with a crayon could do something not unlike that. I don't put a lot of stake in, never have, in the EKG that is the daily Gallup trend."

He added: "I don't pay a lot of attention to the meaninglessness of it."(Politico)

Even more telling than Robert Gibbs whiny response is the fact that President Barack Obama recently called Rep. John Conyers Jr. (D) to find out why Conyers was “demeaning” him. Booo Hoooo.

Obama’s decision to challenge Conyers highlights a sensitivity to criticism the president has taken on the left. Conyers’s critical remarks, many of which have been reported on the liberal-leaning Huffington Post, appear to have irritated the president, [snip]
Conyers, the second-longest-serving member of the House, said, “[Obama] called me and told me that he heard that I was demeaning him and I had to explain to him that it wasn’t anything personal, it was an honest difference on the issues. And he said, ‘Well, let’s talk about it.’” (The Hill)

Conyers goes on to rip Obama a new one, pointing out all the ways Obama has failed... (my word)

The editor-in-chief of the Gallup Poll defended the high-profile survey against Gibbs attack:

Well, I think the doctor might ask him what’s going on in his life that would cause his EKG to be fluctuating so much. There is, in fact, a lot going on at the moment -- the healthcare bill, the jobs summit, the Copenhagen Climate Conference, and Afghanistan,” Frank Newport wrote on Gallup's website. “Keeping tabs on the people’s views of their elected representatives between elections is vitally important – and something in which the people of the country are demonstrably interested.”

Only 26% of those polled think President Obama deserves the Nobel Peace Prize.

Obama needs to turn around and look at his coattails, because Sarah Palin is only one point behind him and racing upward in the polls. The new CNN/Opinion Research Poll shows Palin now at 46% favorable.

Oh snap, the Obama Administration is imploding, moaning and groaning over their approval. If you can't take the heat, get out of the White House.

Iraq: Exit, Stage Left

The White House has condemned coordinated bombing attacks in Baghdad Iraq today that killed at least 127 and injured 200 people. In August and October more than 1,000 people were killed or injured in Iraq. Among the dead were several women, children, college students and police.

Two car bombs exploded near the labour and interior ministries, two more struck in central Baghdad, and another at a police patrol in Dora, in the south of the city.
Zeina Khodr, Al Jazeera's correspondent in Iraq, said the attacks are another embarrassment for the government.
"We just spoke to a high raking official who said he was worried that the security forces were infiltrated," Khodr said. (AlJazeera)

Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki is running for re-election on a platform of Iraq is more secure.

The passage of Iraq's new election law in Iraqi parliament means that U.S. combat troops are a step closer to beginning their phased withdrawal from the country next year, with all but 50,000 of the 115,000 leaving in 2010, the remaining troops leaving in 2011. Gen. Ray Odierno said the troop withdrawal could begin 60 days after the country's national elections, which I believe were originally scheduled for February 27 but are now scheduled for March 6, 2010. Six members of an anti-Al Qaeda militia, the Sahwa (Awakening) movement a/k/a Sons of Iraq, were gunned down in broad daylight Monday as they were manning a checkpoint in Nadeem village, 30 kilometres (19 miles) north of Baghdad. Control of the Sahwa passed to Iraqi authorities last October and since January their wages -- said to have been cut from 300 dollars under US leadership to 100 dollars -- have been paid, often late, by the government.

On Sunday, in the town of Rashad, 175 kilometres north of the capital, a Sahwa member was killed when a bomb struck his car, said police Colonel Ahmed Mahmud.
Three others were wounded in the attack, including the local leader of the Sahwa (Awakening) militia, Shujaa Taji al-Rayashi, the apparent target.
And on November 16, gunmen in Iraqi army uniforms launched execution-style attacks west of Baghdad, killing 13 members of a tribe that was led by a Sahwa leader. (AINA)

The Iraqi Oil Ministry will auction off 10 oil field contracts this week in spite of the violence.

Executives from leading international companies are due in Baghdad on 11 and 12 December for the auction, at which the government is offering 20-year service contracts for 10 untapped oilfields. [snip]
... the five supermajors, national players including Gazprom, Rosneft, Sonangol, Petronas and Statoil, and a raft of major European players such as Eni and Total all eligible to bid.

Iraq is a number of prized fields, including Majnoon and West Qurna Phase 2, each with proven reserves of nearly 13 billion barrels.
The 10 fields up for grabs are East Baghdad, Badrah, Middle Furat, Majnoon, West Qurna, Gharaf, Halfaya, the Eastern field, Najmah and Qayarah. (Upstream Online)

President Barack Obama seems to be following former President George W. Bush's example of a surge while American forces are seeing higher number of dead, and the 100th British soldier was killed this week in Afghanistan. Also I see that the Afghan government is hitting us up for more money today, supposedly to build up their large army.

We can only hope and pray that security holds in Iraq, that the Iraqi military and police continue to step up, that the elections go off without a hitch in 2010 and that the surge in Afghanistan works as well as the on in Iraq, so far.

Doing something about something that does not exist, that seems to be the motivation in Washington these days. We hear both political parties saying, "We must do something about global warming." It's just as crazy to hear people say that as it would be to hear anyone say "We must do something about leprechauns, or unicorns, or bigfoot, or ghosts". I suppose if money could be made from doing something about leprechauns there would be a push in that direction too.

A total of 190 nations are somehow wrapped up in this myth. Only days after the climate-gate emails prove to anyone with a reasonable mind that this is a hoax, that science has been altered and even created, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency ruled that greenhouse gases endanger human health, allowing it to regulate planet-warming gases without legislation from the Senate, where a bill to cut U.S. emissions by 2020 is stalled. "This is very significant in the sense that if...the Senate fails to adopt legislation (on emissions), then the administration will have the authority to regulate," Yvo de Boer, head of the U.N. Climate Change Secretariat, told Reuters in Copenhagen.

Taking away from our freedoms, ruining our economy, causing businesses to fail, forcing Americans to pay more for everything, and giving the government permission to control every aspect of our lives is just as crazy as it is to say, "It is time to demand—or at least to expect–reciprocity from the Muslim world on religious tolerance; tolerating the intolerant is unwise, or as the Jewish sages tell us: Being kind to the cruel results in cruelty to the kind. Thus, if there can be no churches or synagogues built in Saudi Arabia, Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, etc.—then why should the Swiss or the Europeans [or Americans] allow new, blockbuster size mosques, and sound-splitting loudspeakers emanating from minarets?" (Dr. Phyllis Chesler) The answer of course is "we should not".

Controlling Us All In The Name Of Saving Us All. All in the name of man-made global warming which isn't happening. I see leprechauns.

Nations have been shamed, forced, maneuvered, negotiated into joining the global warming scam. Even Saudi Arabia called for an independent investigation into “climategate” Monday, warning that the scandal over stolen e-mails threatened to undermine the global-warming negotiations in Copenhagen. The United Nation’s [I wish they were as elusive as global warming and unicorns] Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has promised to investigate the scandals [meaning the hacker or insider, not the science], although its chairman said Monday that it provided no basis for questioning the science behind global warming. Reasonable people would expect there to be an investigation of all things global warming, including the so-called science, Reverend of the church of global warming Al Gore, and every money-making scam falling under that umbrella, starting with President of the United States Barack Hussein Obama, about whom Salon said, "They don't come any greener." Well I sure can't argue with that, although I mean green as "in over his head, not ready for prime time, not prepared for leadership."

Climate-gate has provided proof that the science is fake, fixed, created. Enter the term "peer review" - more magical than Jesus:

Only 45% of Americans believe in global warming, but that fact has been hidden.

The few reasonable people who speak out are not only demonized but have a bounty on their head. Chamber of Commerce CEO Tom Donohue is a wanted man -- at least according to the liberal activist group

Global warming has become the latest 'too big to fail' project and it's proponents will do whatever it takes to push legislation through. On the Senate floor, Majority Leader Harry Reid compared passing government-run health care to ending slavery. Global warming deniers are treated even worse.

The truth shall set us free - not some man-made myth.

The Most Exciting

It's always risky labeling someone or something, using terms like the best, the most, the only .... Advertisers do it all the time because they want us to buy their products. Political folks do it to promote their candidate. Al Gore, referring to himself, said, "I know I won't always be the most exciting politician...". I can say he is the most inflated former politician I've even known, but exciting? No, I'll give you exciting. In fact, I'll give you the most exciting politician ever. Sarah Palin.

Daniel P. Moynihan said, “The single most exciting thing you encounter in government is competence, because it's so rare.” You want to see competence, just look at Sarah Palin's personal life and her political life, which began in 1992. I won't go into her history here, you can read her book "Going Rogue" (even her book sales are the most), or simply do an internet search, but one thing is clear throughout her life -- she marches to the beat of her own drum.

It is refreshing to see someone in politics actually say what they mean and mean what they say. No testing the waters, no checking to see which way the political winds are blowing. She is the most honest. The most genuine. The most real politician existing today. That is Sarah Palin. From the moment she stepped on the national political stage in August of 2008, Conservative Americans loved her. We still love her.

When she could not get an honest break in the mainstream media (because they know in their little black hearts what a threat she is to them), that didn't phase her ... she spoke out on her own FaceBook page.

Americans drive or fly long distances to stand outside in rain, snow and 20 degree temperatures all night just to get a look at Sarah Palin, in the hopes of shaking her hand or getting an autographed book. Why? Because she is like them. She believes in the same things they do, their values are the same, the same on issues, she is one of them -- one of us.

"Sarah Palin is not only young and beautiful, but many Americans are now hailing her as "The Hope of America". She represents small town values, personal ethics, and individualism." (Squiddo) Ah yes, and that is exactly why the Left hate her.

Sarah Palin's popularity is on the rise, much to the Left's chagrin. Today 46% of Americans favor Palin while 46% are unfavorable toward her. (CNN poll)

She has a sense of humor, she can even make fun of herself.

Todd and Sarah Palin, two beautiful people both inside and out have been married since 1988. It is obvious to anyone who watched this couple that they not only love each other, they respect each other, they enjoy being together, they love their families. What wonderful role models they would be as the First Family. I would be proud to have Sarah Palin as the first woman President of the United States and Todd Palin as the first First Gentleman. I support Sarah Palin for President of the United States of America.

What to Do with Islam?

I had a nightmare last night. I was in a very beautiful Catholic Church – you know, the old kind with Renaissance art and sculptures everywhere – and a nun was speaking and leading us in a rosary beneath an exceptionally beautiful portrait of the Blessed Virgin. It was a beautiful ceremony, part traditional prayer and part spontaneous adulation of God – except.

In one corner of the church was a small group of Muslim men who were very vocal and disruptive. Their commotion became so intense that I could not hear the words being spoken by the nun standing just a few feet away from me. I looked around for the priest, but he was nowhere to be seen. I suspected that he was out trying to enlist the aid of the authorities (who never did come) and so I set about writing a complaint myself. As within many dreams, the words were hard to remember, the physical act of writing difficult to control. My efforts seem to function in slow motion and often I could not conduct the simplest of tasks. Then, my new puppy Bronson woke me up so that I would take him outside.

Usually, I let my subconscious thoughts dissipate as soon as I am conscious enough to climb out of bed and begin my longer than average days. Often, as my readers know, I believe that our Lord presented specific dreams to me in order to carry out a specific purpose. Such as during my youth when I now believed that I was on the verge of death, or much later when Sara was actually preparing for her own entrance into Paradise. I wonder if God was talking to me again.

There are several evident “truths” within my latest dream that deserve discussion. First, Islam has become a major distraction within the world; a distraction that challenges the peace and sanctity of the much more mature Judeo-Christian faith. Second, the voices of women were being silenced by the actions of a few belligerent Muslim men. Last, but by no means least, the secular authorities were nowhere to be found and hence unable to stop the chaos generated by the Muslims. Not much of a revelation – or is it?

If one faith were to disappear in an instant, would the world be better off without Islam or Christianity? If one doctrine were applied universally and without challenge, would the world be better off with the Qur’an or the Gospels? Would you feel more comfortable with a neighbor who felt that entrance into paradise mandated his dying to save your life or one who thought that it mandated his killing of you and your entire family? Sometimes the greatest revelations are the simplest to see – if we are only perceptive enough to catch the obvious.

Christian ethic has survived for two thousand years – even in criminally anti-Christian modern society – because it is based upon truth. That there are some things motivated by God and some things motivated by man’s desires. Christian earthly world is not perfectly suited because it is inhabited by imperfect humans. Our Lord is a shining beacon, calling us away from the treacherous shoals that seek to shatter our hulls, yes, but He is also a lifeguard prepared to leap into action should our course wash us upon these terrible reefs.

The infinite chasm between Christianity and Islam is that only Christianity knows that the individual can choose to consider whether a cry for assistance is warranted or not. That the individual can make a stand upon those jagged rocks and declare, “This earth is dangerous to my being but I willingly choose to remain here instead of trying to meet the Lifeguard halfway.” Muslims cannot think truthfully for they believe that everything is preordained by Allah. The only thing preordained by God is the free will of His human creations. He gave us not only complete reign of the earth, but also the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven.

In my current Illicit Finance course in school, we’re studying the effects of the collapse of the economy in Dubai. While reminiscent of the collapse of the U.S. housing market (largely brought about by socialistic “provide mortgages to anyone with a heartbeat” practices), the crisis in Dubai rests squarely upon unsustainable Shari’a finance.

Islamic finance has five basic tenets, which are the antitheses of proven capitalistic enterprise: no interest, no speculation, no haram (forbidden) investments such as pork, gambling, etc., the requirement for sharing of profits and losses, and asset backing. Who among you would invest in a bond that does not bear interest? How many jobs are created without speculation? Or technological breakthroughs? Dubai was an Islamic disaster just waiting to happen. When God said, “fill the earth” I doubt He meant creating palm-shaped islands and miniature maps arising out of the sea.

Consider also, that while Christ chose men to administer his Church, He did not sidestep the participation of women within the process. He elevated His mother to Queen of Heaven, hailing above all angels and saints. After His Resurrection, He appeared to a woman before the one He handed the keys of Heaven to. In the entire Bible, the one who contributed the most to charity was an old widow.

Muslims may claim to value women, but their actions are contrary to the claim. They restrict their actions and hide their presence. They view them as secondary to men, not as human equals. They may correctly believe that God granted men and women some physiological differences, but they ignore that God also granted both free will.

I cannot help but feel that much of the Gospel – the Good News – is distinctly a warning against Islam. First, you have the warning against false prophets. Next, you have a prohibition against praying on street corners. When Christ said to go and lock yourself in a room where no one but God could see you pray, I cannot help but think that he was forewarning us against being publicly called to prayer five times per day. Then, there is the entire Christian ethic of reaching out (by example) to those who do not believe and removing the plank from one’s own eye. The Qur’an simply retreats human progress to adolescent Judaism when the Israelites had to be weaned from animalistic instincts. Christ replaced the temporal with the glorified.

I personally feel that Islam is a sham – if not an outright shame. Its expansion came about not from within a hostile climate such as Christianity did with pagan Rome or through the virtues of civility but through unceasing treachery and rampant breeding. The true Christian holds his wife as an equal until death do them part. The Muslim within Muslim lands views his wife merely as livestock – corralled, branded, and part of a large herd.

So the question begs, “What do we do with Islam?” What do we do with a people who are obligated to lie to us non-Muslims? For starters, we need to ditch the religion moniker and accept that it is nothing more than an all-encompassing political ideology much like communism or Nazism. Unlike Christianity, which seeks to prepare individuals for the afterlife, Islam seeks to prepare the planet for a new existence. It expands not by example, but by force. It is not – and never has been – an ideology based upon tolerance of outsiders. Any true Christian would be appalled over another Christian blowing himself up in order to kill women and children. Christ embodied Forgiveness; Islam embodies revenge.

Yes, I have a dream. To rid the world of the nightmare that is Islam. I will try to do so as a faithful Christian but, alas, if there is one thing that I have learned from my Catholic heritage it is that we are all human. I just know that my God is God. Thy Will be done.

December 7, 1941 - Pearl Harbor

The 7 December 1941 Japanese raid on Pearl Harbor was one of the great defining moments in history. A single carefully-planned and well-executed stroke removed the United States Navy's battleship force as a possible threat to the Japanese Empire's southward expansion. America, unprepared and now considerably weakened, was abruptly brought into the Second World War as a full combatant.

Eighteen months earlier, President Franklin D. Roosevelt had transferred the United States Fleet to Pearl Harbor as a presumed deterrent to Japanese aggression. (Naval History and Heritage)

We were not prepared then, we were not prepared on September 11, 2001, and in spite of all the terror attacks that have been thwarted, I wonder if we are prepared today for an attack on American soil.

The surprise was complete. The attacking planes came in two waves; the first hit its target at 7:53 AM, the second at 8:55. By 9:55 it was all over. By 1:00 PM the carriers that launched the planes from 274 miles off the coast of Oahu were heading back to Japan.

Behind them they left chaos, 2,403 dead, 188 destroyed planes and a crippled Pacific Fleet that included 8 damaged or destroyed battleships. We were divided then as we are now.

We are a nation as divided today as we were in 1940, when President Franklin D. Roosevelt overthrew tradition in seeking an unprecedented third term. Roosevelt was as reviled in his day as Obama is now.

FDR's critics referred to him as "that man in the White House" as if repeating his name was an offense to language if not nature. Pundits denounced him by accusing Roosevelt of taking the nation down a socialistic path.

While the U.S. grappled with the Great Depression, Europe was at war and the Japanese were on the march in the Pacific. The delusion that the U.S. could isolate itself from the world's misery was best-selling fiction.

Despite the growing threat, military budgets were skimpy, and a bill to extend the draft passed by one vote in 1941.

Barack Obama’s Safe Schools Czar Kevin Jennings founded the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN). Recently he was appointed by the Obama administration to run the Office of Safe & Drug Free Schools in the US Department of Education. In 2007 Kevin Jennings was paid $273,573.96 as the executive director of GLSEN.

In 2000 GLSEN held an anniversary conference. From the content of the workshops it was clear that the organization was not so much about tolerance as it was about teaching children about sex. This conference was fully supported by the Massachusetts Department of Education, the Safe Schools Program, the Governor’s Commission on Gay & Lesbian Youth, and some of the presenters even received federal money.

What has been revealed is sick and perverted, and until you read this, you simply cannot image what Jennings recommends as appropriate for school children in this country. Out of curiosity to see exactly what kind of books Kevin Jennings and his organization think American students should be reading in school, our team chose a handful at random from the over 100 titles on GLSEN’s grades 7-12 list, and began reading through.

What we discovered shocked us. We were flabbergasted. Rendered speechless.
We were unprepared for what we encountered. Book after book after book contained stories and anecdotes that weren’t merely X-rated and pornographic, but which featured explicit descriptions of sex acts between pre-schoolers; stories that seemed to promote and recommend child-adult sexual relationships; stories of public masturbation, anal sex in restrooms, affairs between students and teachers, five-year-olds playing sex games, semen flying through the air. One memoir even praised becoming a prostitute as a way to increase one’s self-esteem. Above all, thebooks seemed to have less to do with promoting tolerance than with an unabashed attempt to indoctrinate students into a hyper-sexualized worldview.

The introduction and background:

Safe Schools Czar Kevin Jennings was the founder, and for many years, Executive Director of an organization called the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN). GLSEN started essentially as Jennings’ personal project and grew to become the culmination of his life’s work. And he was chosen by President Obama to be the nation’s Safe Schools Czar primarily because he had founded and led GLSEN (scroll for bio).

GLSEN’s stated mission is to empower gay youth in the schools and to stop harassment by other students. It encourages the formation of Gay Student Alliances and condemns the use of hateful words. GLSEN also strives to influence the educational curriculum to include materials which the group believes will increase tolerance of gay students and decrease bullying. To that end, GLSEN maintains a recommended reading list of books that it claims “furthers our mission to ensure safe schools for all students.” In other words, these are the books that GLSEN’s directors think all kids should be reading: gay kids should read them to raise their self-esteem, and straight kids should read them in order to become more aware and tolerant and stop bullying gay kids. Through GLSEN’s online ordering system, called “GLSEN BookLink,” featured prominently on their Web site, teachers can buy the books to use as required classroom assignments, or students can buy them to read on their own.

According to GLSEN’s own press releases from the period during which its recommended reading list was developed, the organization’s three areas of focus were creating “educational resources, public policy agenda, [and] student organizing programs”; in other words, the reading list (chief among its “educational resources”) was of prime importance in GLSEN’s efforts to influence the American educational system.

The list is divided into three main categories: books recommended for grades K-6; books recommended for grades 7-12; and books for teachers. (The books on the list span all genres: fiction, nonfiction, memoirs, even poetry.)

The group who chose the “handful of books” to preview explained their actions and intentions this way:

We knew that unless we carefully documented what we were reading, the public would have a hard time accepting it. Mere descriptions on our part could not convey the emotional gut reaction one gets when seeing what Kevin Jennings wants kids to read as school assignments. So we began scanning pages from each of thebooks, and then made exact transcriptions of the relevant passages on each page.

Are we exaggerating, or misconstruing quotes that could be interpreted a different way? No: Read the passages below and judge for yourself. There’s no wiggle room. The language is explicit, the intent clear.

We can only vouch for what’s in these 11 books, since these are the only ones we’ve read through. Are there other books on the GLSEN reading list that are similarly outrageous? We can’t say for sure, but it seems very likely. What you see excerpted below is probably only the tip of the iceberg.

Let it be clear: This issue has nothing to do with gayness or straightness, which is irrelevant to this report. The point proven here is that the GLSEN reading list promotes the sexualization of children in general, regardless of the “orientation.”

And this is not about censorship: It’s about deciding what constitutes appropriate reading material for children. We’re perfectly OK with thesebooks existing and being read by adults; we only start to worry when these books are assigned to children. All sorts of books are excluded from school reading lists, for all sorts of reasons. Even many books once considered classics are now considered off-limits due to language or attitudes now deemed inappropriate. And yet, according to Kevin Jennings and GLSEN,books about a 13-year-old getting “my c*ck sucked and my a** f**ked” or about a teenager enjoying the “exquisite bitter taste” of his friend’s semen are not just acceptable, they’re highly recommended. As GLSEN’s own site says, “All BookLink items are reviewed by GLSEN staff for quality and appropriateness of content.” Really? (Note: GLSEN does advise adults to “review content for suitability.”)

The following says something very important, and I’ll reiterate it here so that it is not missed. Kevin Johnson, Obama’s Safe Schools Czar stepped down as executive director of GLSEN last year – BUT according to Breitbart, all of the books were placed on the reading list while he was still at the helm.

Although GLSEN does not address how books get added to its list, it’s hard to imagine that they are chosen by low-level staffers or volunteers, with no oversight. Since the list of recommended books is one of the organization’s primary tools (”The GLSEN BookLink, an online library of recommended resources, along with the Safe Space program remain cornerstones of GLSEN’s education work.” source), it’s likely that the books were chosen carefully. Kevin Jennings stepped down as Executive Director last year after leading GLSEN since its inception, but every single book mentioned in this report was added to the list while Jennings was in charge (dates are given for each title’s addition to the list). Therefore, it’s reasonable to believe he was aware of the addition of these works – especially since most were added when GLSEN was still quite small and the Executive Director had a hands-on role in daily operations.

Below you will find dozens of excerpts taken from books on the GLSEN “Booklink” recommended reading list for grades 7-12 (i.e. for children between the ages of 12 and 17). You decide for yourself if you think these are appropriate for kids as young as 12 years old to read. And then decide if you think the man who headed the organization responsible for recommending these books to children should be in charge of school safety in this country.

The better part of the year was spent making deals with God, asking for a sign, then ignoring and rationalizing everything I perceived to be a sign, praying for forgiveness, and being obsessed with raging hormones and a seemingly endless supply of di*ks. I believed that it was all part of a test by God to see if I was a sinner. I was.

I had known before that something was up, and that I was attracted to men, but this toilet thing was a whole new realm of sin and Satan, a new level that I had never before imagined. The following years were spent praying for forgiveness and trying to purge my homosexuality through prayer and Bible study. While my classmates wondered what sex was like, content to masturbate over pinups, I was out there having my c**k sucked and my a** f**ked. These were grown men I was tricking with. Some were nice, grateful for a young boy to have their way with. Some were harsh and mean. M: Well, before I get into that I have to tell you how I got into S/M generally, since I used to be a complete vanilla bottom. I’m gay, by the way; I’m exploring being transgendered, and I’ve been doing drag for about ten years, on and off. Drag was never a sexual thing for me, I’ve always had sex “as a guy.” Around March of last year a friend asked me about rape fantasies—she wanted to know what my fantasies were. I realized I hadn’t been fantasizing at all. When I did start thinking about it, my fantasies were all about whipping. I started reading up on S/M, and it was making me interested in sex for the first time. Before, I never knew what the big deal was with sex. I put a personal ad in the paper to do scenes with different people, and I realized that for what I was doing, I could be getting good money. I had a lot of friends in the sex industry who were asking me, “Why aren’t you charging for what you’re doing?”

So that summer I did it for free and learned what I needed to do, and by November I started putting out ads in the Bay Area Reporter. My ads were sort of genderf**k: my picture was taken from the neck down in a corset, fishnets and garter belt. It was a dom-type look. I realized there weren’t that many guys into doing S/M professionally, and the ones that were were really butch—so I stood out a lot. It was great. It was the first time I had really good sex, I was getting paid for it, and I felt totally in control. It was good, but I was wondering how many people I was losing by advertising as a fem dom. I started putting ads online without the fem look and got a lot more response, so I switched to just having a nude picture in the paper as opposed to a girlish one. The responses were more than I could handle, which is a good thing. That’s how I got into sex work, as a way of exploring my sexuality.

The term diversity has become more than trite these days. Slap a rainbow flag on your car and you’re well on the way to “diverse” liberalism. A true commitment to diversity, however, requires a closer look at the privileges and oppressions simultaneously affecting each of us and a recognition of both public and private means of resistance. In many ways I have privilege: I am white, middle-class, and attending college. These factors grant me certain societally bestowed benefits. In other ways, I am systemically oppressed: as a woman, as a youth, as a person with cerebral palsy, as a bisexual queer.

With these attributes, I fail to meet the optimal requirements for functioning in this white-supremacist, capitalist heteropatriarchy.

If you are not part of the system in the optimal way (i.e., as a straight, white, middle-class or upwardly mobile, Christian male), you pose a threat to that dominant system.

Coming Out in Middle School
I first began to come out when I was 11. In terms of my family, I was fortunate because my parents have always been accepting of my sexual identity. It was really great to have their backing, especially considering that a lot of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people don’t have that kind of family support. I come from a political, staunchly liberal family; I guess you could say I inherited my parents’ socialist genes. However, the school I was going to when I came out was immensely different from my home situation.

I was in sixth grade and attending a Catholic school in San Francisco when I came out to a small group of people. (I was actually raised in an agnostic household, but the Catholic school was three blocks away from where I lived.) My fellow students had already assumed I was a queer because I defended queer people and got angry at folks in my class when they said the word “faggot.” So of course they were making accusations about my sexuality left and right. Still, I didn’t feel comfortable coming out to all of them.

During this time I started attending LYRIC, the Lavender Youth Recreation and Information Center, a wonderful program and hang-out space for LGBT youth in San Francisco. Just hanging out with other queer youth and finding a place where I could get support was incredible. Programs that give queer youth a space to be safe are really important, and I know that finding LYRIC helped me out a lot.

The next year I was in seventh grade. At that point I was tired of being harassed, and I had gotten to a place in my life where I could actually deal with the harassment and stand up to people who hurt me. I realized I could only be happy if I was honest with the people around me. So at the age of 12 1 came out to my entire elementary school, which included grades K-8.

In the school library there was a supplies closet where some of the boys, it was rumored, went when the library wasn’t in use. One spring afternoon, as Lex Bancroft and I, unsupervised, shelved books—an honor bestowed from time to time on A students—he confided to me that he and Brian Freeman had gone to the closet the week before. The window shades were down to indicate the library was closed, but still the afternoon light suffused the room with a tender glow. Lex hooked his thumbs through the belt loops of his jeans and splayed his fingers against his pelvis as if in triumph. Did I want to go? he wondered.

Those of us who had not been to the closet could only speculate about what, exactly, went on in there. I felt a bright spasm of longing–everything in the room seemed at once vague and luminous; we were on the verge, I sensed, of something truly amazing–when the door opened and our teacher, Mr. Bouchner, appeared to tell us the news that Martin Luther King had just been assassinated in that faraway city where I had grown up.

My advice for Tiger Woods is short and sweet:

Remember: Steve "Air" McNair!

Thirty-six year old Steve McNair, former quarterback for the Tennessee Titans, was found on the sofa, shot four times: twice in the chest, once in each side of his head and 20 year old Sahel Kazemi (a/k/a Jenni) was at his feet on the floor, one shot to her temple, with the gun under her. She was apparently one of several girfriends to McNair.

Steve McNair also had an unsuspecting wife. He also had young children, four boys.

What is it with some men? Do your wives suddenly become repulsive after they carry and give birth to your children? Is that why you turn to younger other women?

Does your wife become no longer desirable once you have her as your own? Is it the chase that you miss? Is it that you feel you deserve to have as many sexual partners as you desire?

Do you have no respect for your marriage vows? And what about your children, have you no love and respect for them? Is your wife supposed to sit at home and simply accept your treatment of her?

Too many times husbands (and wives) take their spouses for granted, and I'm not just talking about celebrities like Woods and McNair. Just because your spouse isn't 20 years old any more, doesn't mean that they don't still think and feel as they did when you first met and married. They still need to know that you love them as you did in the beginning, that you desire them as you did in the beginning, that they are still beautiful and irreplaceable in your eyes and heart.

How do you think it makes your spouse feel when you submerse yourself in pornographic images, videos, or worse -- other live women? It crushes their soul, it cuts so deep those wounds may never be healed.

My heart goes out to Elin Nordegren Woods and Mechelle Cartwright McNair. Two beautiful, intelligent women and mothers.

Steve McNair no longer has the opportunity to make things right with his wife and children.

Tiger Woods is lucky -- he's still alive and breathing -- although I'm sure his wife felt like killing him when she found out about one, two, three, four(?) other sex partners.

Once the heart has been broken and crushed there is no healing. There will never be trust or innocent love like there was at the beginning. These women will never see themselves the same, they will question their physical looks, their personalities, their other relationships. The damage is irreversible.

Why do men like Tiger and McNair do it? Ron Liddle says:

They do it because they can. Because they can — and frankly, if we’re being honest, because you can’t. And also because it is easier to do it than not to do it. It is easier to succumb to temptation than to tell temptation to get lost...

Just because you can doesn't mean you should. The 'if it feels good do it' of years ago is wrong. Stop and think about the consequences of your actions before you act. Think about the hurt you will bring on the one who is supposed to be your soul mate, the love of your life, your spouse.

And most important: Men, never, ever, miss an opportunity to tell your wife that you love her, that she is still beautiful to you, that she is still desirable to you, and that you are devoted to her and look forward to living the rest of your lives together. Wives, never, ever, miss an opportunity to tell your husband that you love him, that he is still the most handsome man to you, that he is still the only one you desire, and that you are devoted to him, that you look forward to living snuggled in his arms for the rest of your lives.

Now that's how it's supposed to be. Are you listening Tiger?

Heads Should Roll at Fort Knox

Prepare to be infuriated.

It’s been brought to my attention by several reliable sources that the Defense Department has brought Louay Safi to Fort Hood as an instructor, and that he has been lecturing on Islam to our troops in Fort Hood who are about to deploy to Afghanistan. Safi is a top official of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), and served as research director at the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT).
Worse, last evening, Safi was apparently permitted to present a check (evidently on behalf of ISNA) to the families of the victims of last month’s Fort Hood massacre. A military source told the blogger Barbarossa at the Jawa Report: “This is nothing short of blood money. This is criminal and the Ft. Hood base commander should be fired right now.”
ISNA was identified by the Justice Department at the Holy Land Foundation terrorism financing conspiracy trial as an unindicted co-conspirator. The defendants at that trial were convicted of funding Hamas to the tune of millions of dollars. This should have come as no surprise. ISNA is the Muslim Brotherhood’s umbrella entity for Islamist organizations in the United States. It was established in 1981 to enable Muslims in North America “to adopt Islam as a complete way of life” — i.e., to further the Brotherhood’s strategy of establishing enclaves in the West that are governed by sharia. As I detailed in an essay for the April 20 edition of NR, the Brotherhood’s rally-cry remains, to this day, “Allah is our objective. The Prophet is our leader. The Koran is our law. Jihad is our way. Dying in the way of Allah is our highest hope.” The Brotherhood’s spiritual guide, Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, who issued a fatwa in 2004 calling for attacks on American forces in Afghanistan, openly declares that Islam will “conquer America” and “conquer Europe.” (continue reading at The Corner, hat tip, via Stand Up America)

Iran will break off cooperation with IAEA - Iran successfully simulated the detonation of a nuclear warhead

On November 27, 2009 DEBKAfile reported that Tehran may break off cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency-IAEA and withdraw from the Non-Proliferation Treaty after the IAEA's 35-nation board of governors Friday, Nov. 27 censured Iran and called on Tehran to halt the construction of its second enrichment site at Fordo near Qom. Today German intelligence reports that Iranian scientists have successfully simulated the detonation of a nuclear warhead in laboratory conditions, in an effort to sidestep an underground nuclear test like the one that brought the world down on North Korea's head earlier this year.

... by quitting the NPT, Iran would free itself of international obligations with regard to its nuclear activities. Our sources note that this will not change much. Anyway, while holding talks on its program with six world powers and throwing an occasional bone to IAEA inspectors, Tehran does as it pleases and conceals most of its nuclear activities heedless of world censure.

Nonetheless, the United States and most other world powers connived with Dr. ElBaradei to blind the world to the true state of Iran's rogue program. (DEBKAfile)

For now, "Iran defiantly refuses to abide to latest IAEA resolution", Realite' EU

On November 27, 2009, the IAEA’s Board of Governors issued a resolution against Iran calling for it to cease enriching uranium. On December 2 the Islamic Republic defiantly rejected the resolution, reacting angrily to calls that it put an immediate halt to its nuclear program. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said the resolution was passed "with insistence and political ambitions of certain members states.! [1] The only countries to vote against the resolution were Cuba, Venezuela and Malaysia. [2]
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad described the IAEA resolution as "illegal". Ahmadinejad further announced that the Islamic Republic would enrich high-enriched uranium (HEU) itself, overruling the IAEA’s latest resolution. [3] He also said that Israel could not do a "damn thing" to stop Iran’s nuclear weapons development program. [4]

Ahmadinejad’s announcement comes after a uranium exchange deal that has been agreed upon during talks in Geneva in September 2009, in which Iran was supposed to ship 75 percent of its low-enriched uranium (LEU) to Russia and France for further enrichment in order to be then converted into fuel for Iran’s nuclear medicine program. [5] Teheran has since retreated from the deal and president Ahmadinejad has been publicly outspoken about his ambitions: "By the grace of God, the Iranian nation will produce 20 percent enriched uranium and anything it needs (itself)." [6]

The resolution is specifically aimed at Iran’s once secret nuclear facility near the city of Qom and demands that Iran freezes the project immediately. The resolution is the first against Tehran in almost four years. [7] The resolution contains a strong call on Tehran to implement the relevant UN Security Council resolutions, as well as providing the international community with necessary transparency needed to prove the exclusively peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program. [8]

Quick Timeline: Iran’s non-compliance

Iran's non-compliance with demands from the international community has intensified since the latest resolution was issued by the IAEA.

In July 2006, the IAEA adopted Resolution 1696, which demands that Iran suspends its uranium enrichment. [9] The resolution offered Iran one month (from July 31 to August 31, 2006) to stop its uranium enrichment program and all other "research and development" activities or face the threat of sanctions. [10] Iran, however, failed to respond in a satisfactory way to this resolution. [11]

Iran's failure to comply with the IAEA’s demands of the previous resolution, the UN Security Council in December 2006 issued Resolution 1737. [12] The resolution placed economic sanctions on Iran and prohibited UN member states from supplying Iran with materials or technology that might be used for Iran’s nuclear weapons development program. [13]

In March 2007 the UN Security Council unanimously adopted Resolution 1747. [14] Iran reacted with defiance, government spokesman Gholam Hossein Elham said: "We don’t welcome (UN) to adopt another resolution, but there’s no need to worry. […] Suspension is completely impossible and cannot be brought up, they have already given up this; in this respect, sanction is not new and will have no effect on people’s progress." [15]

In March 2008 the UN Security Council adopted Resolution 1803 due to Iran’s refusal to suspend uranium enrichment and heavy-water-related projects. [16]

The UN Security Council has repeatedly demanded that Iran halts its uranium enrichment program. Continuing and accelerating the process toward a more concentrated form of uranium would reveal that Iran was "positioning itself for the production of nuclear arms." [17]

Iran’s nuclear ambitions

On November 29, 2009, Iran declared plans to build 10 uranium enrichment facilities. The West has signaled it is running out of patience with Iran’s continuing nuclear ambitions. British Foreign Secretary David Miliband labeled Iran’s announcement as a provocation: "This epitomizes the fundamental problem that we face with Iran," he said. [18] He added: "[…] Instead of engaging with us Iran chooses to provoke and dissemble." [19]

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said that time was running out for Iran to avoid sanctions over its nuclear program. "The fact that 25 countries from all parts of the world cast their votes in favor shows the urgent need for Iran to address the growing international deficit of confidence in its intentions," Gibbs said. [20]

Ali Larijani, Iran's Parliament Speaker said Iran will review its relations with those countries that voted in favor of the IAEA resolution against the Islamic Republic. [21]

Another week has passed, and the Council has spoken, choosing the winners of this week’s competition !

In the Council category, the winner this week was Mere Rhetoric with Leaked Global Warming Docs: “Publicity Machine” Used To Manipulate Journalists And Intimidate Scientists :

Democratic theory 101: there is a scientific sphere and a public sphere, and the two are by design separate and unequal. Scientists are supposed to produce grist for the deliberative mill, answering the objective questions “what’s going on” and “how certain are we that we’re right?” Then the public uses that information as part of a much messier debate over risk: “given the costs of action vs. the impact of inaction, how certain do we want scientists to be on this issue before we pass new legislation?” That’s the deal modern democracies have with scientific institutions.

It’s not the most empowering position for scientists to be in – they’d probably prefer to issue decrees directly – but that’s why we compensate them with tens of trillions in public money. It’s also not a perfect system, though it works well enough to balance nuclear meltdowns vs. necessary power production, epidemics vs. costly mass immunizations, and so on.

And it only works as long as scientists refrain from actively manipulating the public on legislative issues, either by working journalists or by pressuring lawmakers. The leaked emails and files from the Climatic Research Unit, at the UK’s University of East Anglia, show that’s exactly what AGW partisans have been doing. There has been a widespread and systematic breakdown in how climate researchers relate to the public that funds them and the media outlets that report on them.

In the non-Council category we had a tie between two excellent contestants which the Watcher broke in accordance with our arcane bylaws.

Accordingly, the winner this week is Victor Davis Hanson’s Private Papers for Dithering and trashing America :

The growing problem for the Obama administration is that the public has finally caught on that the president’s tough rhetoric and soaring oratory don’t match reality.

“Considering all options” and “wanting more information” essentially mean dithering and voting present on Afghanistan, even after announcing the adoption of a new bold strategy.

“Saving jobs” means conjecturing about the effects of massive borrowing and enhancing your figures through the creation of fictitious congressional districts and bogus employment reporting.{…}

We are left with two conclusions. 1) A very inexperienced president has discovered that all the easy, Manichean campaign rhetoric of 2008 does not translate well into actual governance. 2) Obama is in a race to push a rather radical, polarizing agenda down the throat of a center-right country before the country wakes up and his approval ratings hit 40 percent

Simon and Lionel Chetwynd, both Academy members have called upon the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, to rescind the prestigious, profitable gold Oscar statuette that it gave ex-Vice President Al Gore two years ago for the environmental movie "An Inconvenient Truth" ... which enriched his earnings by $100,000 per 85-minute appearance and helped elevate the Tennessean's profile to win the Nobel Peace Prize. (LA Times)

Wouldn't that be something! With the revelations in the climategate emails, we may see this hoax exposed for what it is. The downfall of Al Gore would be icing on the cake.

Iran Releases Britons but Continues to Hold Numerous Hostages

Even as Iran on Wednesday (Dec. 2) released five members of a British sailing team, the Islamic Republic still holds other foreigners – U.S. citizens, Iranian-Americans and a French national – who are being kept on a variety of questionable charges.

The release of the British sailors ended a week of detention after their yacht strayed into Iranian waters. The release thwarted a second major diplomatic incident in less than three years between Tehran and Britain, amid increasingly difficult negotiations between Iran and Western powers over its nuclear ambitions. [1]

In March 2007, Iranian authorities detained 15 British naval personnel in the Persian Gulf, claiming the crew was trespassing in Iranian waters. They were held for 13 days before they were freed with a pardon from Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.[2]

Iranian authorities seized the sailors after their 60-foot racing yacht strayed less than 500 yards inside Iranian territorial waters. The group was sailing from Bahrain to Dubai in late November when they were stopped by Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps naval vessels.[3]

The crew’s sponsor, Team Pindar, said in a statement Monday that the sailors aboard the "Kingdom of Bahrain" yacht were captured Nov. 25 -- a day before they were to take part in the Dubai-Muscat Offshore Sailing Race, a 360-nautical-mile race.[4]

The crew was identified as Oliver Smith, 31, of Southampton; Oliver Young, 21, of Saltash in Cornwall; Luke Porter, 21, of Weston-super-Mare in Somerset; David Bloomer, originally from Ireland; and Sam Usher. [5] According to Iran's official news agency, IRNA, the sailors were turned over Wednesday to British representatives in Tehran. [6]

The incident in March 2007 also occurred during a time of escalating tensions between Iran and Western powers. The Iranians claimed the British crew was trespassing in its waters while U.K. officials said they were in Iraqi waters at the time. Iran goaded Britain with the capture, televising footage of some of the personnel apologizing for being in Iranian waters, before eventually sending them home in new suits. The crew members later recanted their apologies.[7]

Other foreigners who continue – or are believed -- to be held by Iranian authorities include:

Three University of California at Berkeley graduate students hikers, all Americans - Joshua Fattal, Shane Bauer, and Sarah Shourd - were arrested after they apparently crossed an unmarked border from Iraq into Iran during a hike through Iraq’s Kurdistan region in July 2009.[8] They have yet to be released despite heavy diplomatic pressure by the United States.

An Iranian-American scholar, Kian Tajbakhsh, has been detained since July 9, 2009. He was charged with spying and in October was sentenced to a 15-year prison term. Charged with crimes against national security, Tajbakhsh was the only American citizen included in a mass show trial of more than 100 people arrested in the aftermath of the disputed presidential election in June.[9]

He appealed that sentence and was transferred to solitary confinement and remained there, losing weight and suffering “huge psychological and physical pressure,” [9]according to a family member. While appealing his sentence he is facing a new charge of spying. Mr. Tajbakhsh, taken before the Revolutionary Court, said that he had already denied the spying charge in the previous court, which nevertheless imposed the 15-year sentence. In the new court, a judge read new charges against him of “spying for the George Soros foundation,” a reference to the Open Society Institute. Previously in 2007, he spent four months in an Iranian prison for “endangering national security.”[10]

U.S. citizen Robert Levinson, a private investigator and a retired FBI agent, has been missing in Iran for more than two years. He vanished just weeks before Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps took 15 British seamen hostage. Levinson was working as a private investigator in Dubai. He was last heard from on March 8, 2007, when, on a business trip, he checked into a Kish Island hotel in the Persian Gulf, and then checked out to return to the United States the following day. At the time of his disappearance Mr. Levinson was looking for leads about cigarette smuggling. [11]

Iranian authorities have said repeatedly they don’t know what might have happened to him. The State Department has consistently denied Levinson was working for the U.S. government and has unsuccessfully pressed Tehran for information about his whereabouts. In April, the Iranian lawyer hired by Mr. Levinson’s family told Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty that he could not rule out the possibility that Iranian “legal and intelligence bodies” were involved. [12]

In December 2007, Levinson's wife and other relatives traveled to Iran and met with officials who provided no details regarding his whereabouts. [13]

Retired Iranian-American businessman Reza Taghavi, 71, was arrested by Iranian officials in May 2008. He has been imprisoned since May 2008 without a trial or formal charges. [14]

French citizen Clotilde Reiss, a 24 year-old-graduate student at the eminent Lille Political Sciences Institute, was arrested at the Tehran airport on July 1 as she was leaving for home via Beirut after a five-month stint as an assistant teacher at Isfahan University. She is accused of spying. She was held in Tehran's notorious Evin jail following her arrest. She was one of more than 100 defendants at a televised mass trial Aug. 8. After the trial, she was sent to the French Embassy in Tehran where she still awaits the verdict in her trial.[15]

“I’m just going to the can!” Jonas ignored the muscular guard trailing after him and preferred that the rifle-toting security agent would not inspect the restroom located in his tiny room. “I ran out of toilet paper and the janitor won’t be in until the morning.”

The ruse worked. At least the guard retreated somewhat to his post.

“At least you’ll be safe from the smell!” Winking, Jonas grabbed the door handle and flung the barrier open, casting a wayward glance towards the large blue plaque that bore the inscription UNISEX, and entered the enviously large restroom. Pausing for a second to secure the door behind him, he positioned himself in the center of the room and sought out his options.

Okay, Jonas. How are you going to get away from these assholes?

A brief inspection of the vent in the ceiling proved that it could not accept his bulk even if he could somehow manage to find his way up. He thought about sneaking his way out and scurrying away when the guard’s attention was distracted but the realization that the hallway was several yards deep shot down this option. Fat desk jockeys shouldn’t run away from pissed off people bearing guns.

Time was becoming an issue for the captive analyst. Soon someone would be inquiring as to why he was taking so long to defecate. He amused himself with the thought of waiting until the guard arrived and then throwing a bucket of his excrement into the man’s face. No, that would make him really pissed!

Jonas knew that the guard in question was his principal adversary. No one bothered to show up to question him now and where his confinement was located was an abandoned part of the building. Take down the guard and he could simply walk his way out to safety. How?

His benefit was probably being obese; few would believe that an overweight analyst would be a threat to a conditioned and trained guard so a solitary sentry was all that his superiors placed his care under.

Jonas paced the center of the room. “How do I get rid of the guard? What do I do once he’s gone? Why am I talking to myself?”

The janitor’s closet at the far end offered opportunity and Jonas chose to explore it. The gratuitously unlocked compartment offered little in the way of an exit. It was barely large enough for a wheeled mop bucket – of the puke yellow variety that doubled as a caution sign; a galvanized metal bucket similar to something Dorothy would have used before she realized that she was no longer in Kansas; several mops of varying degrees of neglect; a large pipe wrench; and a dozen rolls of toilet paper.

Jonas was just about to close the door when his mind began to chuckle over a thought. More of an escape plan, really, but one that required every bit of ingenuity and strength that his overweight ass could muster.

He glanced into the direction of his confinement, mentally analyzing where the guard would be standing, the position of his rifle, and how close the guard stood to the small room. It was a desperate gamble, his plan, but after half a year being confined to a small room with only brief escapes to the polygraph room, the cafeteria, and the dispensary, he was ready for just about anything.

Jonas grabbed the smaller bucket, tossed in the pipe wrench, and proceeded to slide roll after roll of industrial grade toilet paper onto the handle until the wrench was effectively hidden from view.

Pausing for a moment to stare at his reflection in the mirror, Jonas summoned his courage and unlocked the restroom door and began his slow, deliberate walk back towards the guard cradling the bucket as if it were a tearing bag of groceries.

As Jonas methodically marched off his steps, the guard appeared to scrutinize the bucket his charge was carrying. Upon recognition of the white rolls of toilet paper, the guard seemed to acquiesce and spun his body counterclockwise to open the door for the burdened analyst.

Jonas struggled to restrain his breathing and to forestall any suspicion on the part of his target. Time seemed to lengthen as the analyst considered whether it was too late to abandon his attempt at freedom.

Slowly, immeasurably slowly, Jonas moved his left hand into the bucket and rested it at the bottom of the stack of toilet paper rolls.

“Found you a year’s supply, eh?” laughed the guard.

“Well, you know…” Jonas feigned a slight misstep and launched the rolls into the hallway.

As the guard retreated a bit, offering the analyst a chance to gather his runaway quarry of ass wipe, Jonas shoved the bucket as hard as he could into the guard’s midsection as he simultaneously extracted the pipe wrench from its hiding place and pirouetted around bringing the sturdy tool into contact with the man’s back.

Stumbling onto the floor, searching for his rifle first and then his sidearm, the guard’s consciousness was silenced from another appropriately placed swing of the wrench.

Fueled with an intoxicating mixture of adrenaline and fear, Jonas retrieved the guard’s weapons and proceeded to lug the unconscious man into his small room. Quickly closing the door behind them, Jonas found a roll of duct tape and proceeded to bind the guard’s hands and feet as well as secure the man’s mouth, ignoring for the moment the blood dripping from the back of the helpless man’s head.

Satisfied that the guard was no longer a threat, Jonas stood up, now heavily armed, and thought of his prospects for survival. Okay, my dear Jonas. You’ve just attacked a federal agent. What now?

The Path to Victory

What do we do now? That is the question that is building up like a tidal wave from a nation that finds itself at the precipice of national self destruction. The nation is slowly coming out of a deep, fitful, medicated sleep of apathy, brought about in part by the public’s ingestion of the socialistic narcotic of Barack Obama’s “yes, we can” philosophy, with all its negative side effects. I have pondered what might have been the thoughts of those sleeping aboard the fated Titanic as it began its descent to the ocean’s floor. Think about waking up from a sound sleep to feel cold water rapidly rising around you and not know why it was happening or what to do next. Think of the growing thoughts of doom and helplessness as options disappear as fast as the rising water. If you can grasp in your mind the cold feeling of helplessness and the dark embrace of impending doom of the Titanic catastrophe, then you can certainly identify with the current mindset of this country. Yes, for the first time in a long time, the nation itself is recognizing its own mortality as it watches itself plunge into the abyss. The echo across the land is like that of a canon, but despite the glaring volume, it’s the same question that always springs forth from those in dire straits, “what do we do now?”

The way to the survival of this country is as simple as it is obvious; however, to illuminate the path, let me remove some of the most obscuring obstacles that serve to misdirect us. First, we must understand that the terrible state this country is in is not simply the product of the skewed leadership of Barack Obama. Yes, it is most likely an understatement to simply say that Barack Obama has made a bad situation worse within this country. It is probably also an understatement to say that Barack Obama will replace Jimmy Carter as the worst U.S. President of modern time, but to focus any more energy here is to stray from where you and I – this country – will find the answers of importance, the answers we need.

We often think that the path to victory is found in securing our economic future, or to maintain our defenses against the radicals around the world that wish to destroy us. These are no doubt important pursuits, but in struggling to address these issues, we often find ourselves wandering further and further from that which is most important. It is in these dark days that Americans should remember what has brought this country riches more precious than gold, and security beyond what can ever be acquired at the end of a weapon. America’s bounty comes from the endless blessings of the Lord. As the idea of the “American Dream” has traveled around the planet, it is nothing short of a living example of God’s wondrous gift of prosperity to our country. The record of America’s defense of its people, even in the face of some of the world’s most dangerous foes, has been nothing more than the validation of the age old truth that “when God stands with a nation, who can stand against it?”

Traditionally, Americans have set an example to the world of a country that knows where its true strength comes from, and have been humble in the knowledge of this blessing. That same spirit has made America the most giving country – and the country with the most to give. Those that have wished to paint America in a negative light, to question the righteous majesty by which we are guided, often point to our mistakes. They do this with great effect as America has had many instances in which it has fallen from grace, but despite our low points, we have remained a country that continues to stumble along the path of God’s word toward the city on a hill. That is, until now.

Just as many are awakening to the deceptions of the Obama Administration, this country must open its eyes to the fact that we have deceived ourselves. We have allowed the country to decline to such a state that we find it normal to practice such sacrilegious behavior, like: a) God is too controversial to be placed in the public square, where children are taught, or where this country’s rule of law is exercised, and b) we tolerate, if not promote, the sinful arrogance that man commands the heavens and controls the weather of the planet with the same trivial toys the Lord has placed in our hands. Together we share the responsibility for the loathsome practice of shunning personal accountability and for teaching the demented philosophy that none can fail, while ensuring that all do. How disappointing to the Lord we must be in our ignorance and arrogance.

Plans, budgets, laws, parties, politics, and elections; these are all important things and I spend an abundant amount of time dwelling and debating the entire lot, but, I tell you they are nothing when compared with our relationship with the almighty living God. For a nation that feels lost, it feels so because it is. So, what do we do now? I would hope for the poor soul that found himself in the rising waters of the Titanic what I hope for America today as it finds itself drowning in the waters of moral relativism and religious defiance. To survive as a nation, to prosper again, we must fall to our knees in humble recognition that we have lost our way and request forgiveness and guidance. This is the path to victory.

As most regular members of Joshua's Army know, I enabled comment moderation once the site began to become popular. I disliked doing it, but as I explained at the time, I really had little choice.

As blogs and online sources have become increasingly influential, tactics have been developed by partisan hacks to pervert the dialog that is one of the most attractive features on online commenting and interaction for their own political agendas.

The most common one is called 'astroturfing' and was pioneered by none other than President Obama's political consigliere, David Axelrod.It involves monitoring sites and having your operatives pose as legitimate commenters to spam the board, attack opposing viewpoints, abuse and ridicule the writer or opposing commenter and mostly take up the time and bandwidth of anyone who opposes your candidate by forcing them to respond to the attacks or look ridiculous.

Recently, on this thread, we had someone who represented himself as 'Spc. Patricks' , a soldier stationed in Iraq.

I correspond with a lot of both active duty and former military both on and off the site, and I'm always glad to hear from them...and I also never shy away from honest debate. His first two comments were relatively polite if misguided, so I devoted considerable time to giving him an answer, although it became obvious by his second comment that something didn't quite jibe, because he was simply talking past me. His last comment ( which I didn't publish) was pretty much diatribe, Democrat talking points and invective and it was obvious that he wasn't actually responding to any points I made or even really reading what I'd written...pure troll spam.

Another reason not to have Muslims in the military

A number of Arabic and Pashtu interpreters at the terror-war detention center at Guantanamo Bay are under active investigation for omitting valuable intelligence from their translations of detainee interrogations, among other security breaches. This could taint some of the evidence at the "9/11 trial" in New York and proceedings against other detainees.
Remarkably, the Pentagon never cleaned up the "mole infestation" at its highest-security facility after the FBI busted a Muslim spy ring at Gitmo in 2003.

The 2003 probe involved at least two Arabic interpreters with high-level security clearance. Senior Airman Ahmad al-Halabi, a Syrian native, and former Army linguist Ahmed Mehalba, an Egyptian native, were later convicted of stealing or mishandling classified documents.

Six years later comes a new problem with Muslim personnel who have virtually unfettered access to detainees and intelligence at Gitmo. Professional military security and intelligence officials at Gitmo did the preliminary probe, then prepared a classified summary and are now briefing top officials and members of Congress in Washington. An active FBI criminal probe is also under way.

The possible new spy ring involves several Arabic linguists, some also Egyptian and Syrian immigrants. They're suspected of, among other things:
* Omitting valuable intelligence from their translations of interrogations.

* Slipping notes to detainees inside copies of the Koran.

* Coaching detainees to make allegations of abuse against interrogators.

* Meeting with suspects on the terror watchlist while back in the United States.

Officials say some of the suspected "dirty" linguists -- who met privately in a locked mosque at Gitmo -- have had access to 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheik Mohammed and other high-value al Qaeda detainees. If that, along with Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan at Fort Knox, doesn't convince people that having Muslims in the military is a bad idea, I don't know what will.

We seem to be in our own worst enemy with decisions we make and rules of engagement that constrain our troops, and the US is not alone in this. British troops in Iraq had to let 40 armed men who had just ambushed them "walk away" under "constraining" and "frustrating" rules of engagement, papers leaked to The Daily Telegraph show.

The daily propaganda which masquerades as news and as learned opinion has just gotten my goat.

Yesterday, the New York Times published an editorial condemning Switzerland as “intolerant” for having voted to ban minarets—minarets, not mosques.
God, I cannot recall an editorial in their pages condemning Arab and Muslim countries for not allowing any Christian churches, Jewish synagogues, or Hindu and Bahai temples to be built. Nor has the Paper of Record really focused on the real refugee story in the Middle East: that of Arab Jews who were forced to flee the Islamic world and came as refugees to Israel between 1948-1956 and constituted a “silent” exodus, one which is still ongoing. Even with that maybe there is hope. Even Janet Napolitano, who preferred to call soldiers and patriots 'terrorists' and didn't want to use the words war on terror, seems to be coming around to the dangers we face here at home. Janet Napolitano said Wednesday night that al-Qaeda followers are indeed inside the U.S. and would like to attack targets here and in other countries.

Americans are not happy with the present administration and that includes immigration, special treatment of Muslims, political correctness like that we saw after Maj. Hasan attempted to kill 32 Americans at Fort Knox and succeeded in killing 13.

Seventy-one percent (71%) of voters nationwide say they’re at least somewhat angry about the current policies of the federal government. That figure includes 46% who are Very Angry.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that only 27% are not angry about the government's policies, including 10% who are Not at All Angry. (continue)

So is it time to have special investigations of Muslims before they are allowed into our military? Is it time to stop Muslims from joining the military? Or do we continue with things the way they are?

What War is.

Feverish and suffering from a throat that felt like it was enlarged ten sizes too big, I caught President Obama’s televised speech on Afghanistan last night. I figured that there was little harm in listening; I was already terribly sick and ill tempered. What I came away with, however, defies my flu. I heard my president say everything possible except that we were in war to win. Odd, I thought.

Here was a man who refused to give up on the Chicago White Sox when they were in third place in the weakest division of the American League. Certainly, national security is more important than a mediocre baseball team. At least I think so. What of America’s perennial forgiveness of athletes such as Tiger Woods? Would we be so accommodating of his “transgressions” were he a loser? Similarly, is our fascination with the White House “party crashers” simply because of their gall or the fact that they actually succeeded in penetrating our vaunted secret service?

Not that I have ever been a fan of Barack Obama, but I listened attentively for the words that would aid me in ignoring my 103° F. fever and swollen nasal passages. They did not come. Even when my raspy voice tried in vain to sound my opposition, the president never once admitted that he sought to win in Afghanistan – the same president who sounded so confident that he could override our Constitution and commandeer our healthcare industry by August (then September, then yearend, then…).

What I did hear was that President Obama was going to shortchange our military by 10,000 troops and reserve a surrender date for the convenience of our enemies. The post-speech analysis wasn’t any better on my health. One liberal pundit excitedly recalled how President Truman kept General MacArthur from nuking China during the Korean War. Oh, that worked wonders. China is now our principal economic threat and Korea is still a divided and troublesome peninsula fifty-six years after politics’ “Police Action” created 450,360 allied casualties simply to regain the status quo.

I wonder how many professional football teams would win if we declared, “We’re only going to field eight players in the second half.” How many baseball teams would win if the manager broadcasted the fact that he would pull his team after the seventh inning stretch? Would a NASCAR driver win if his sponsors shut down his support after one hundred laps in the Daytona 500?

Americans, in particular, fail to grasp the significance of war – and human survival. Our antiseptically liberal political environment views any conflict as nothing more serious than another Nintendo game. When we’re bored, we can always hit “reset” or simply turn off the game until we’re more inclined for the challenge. Wars do not offer such a reset button – but civilization may very well, especially within the nuclear age.

Perhaps the most egregious trait of modern American society is that – in this Nintendo (or Playstation or …) World of ours – we have become too far removed from the basic animal instincts that govern our survival. We’re simply too interested in conveniences for our own good. We shell out big bucks for TiVo for God forbid should we miss a show by spending quality time with our kids. We spend an equal fortune for an Internet-capable cellular phone for God forbid should we have to wait until we arrive back home or at our office to check for emails.

How many out there reading these words can remember the television weatherman scribbling on a chalkboard as I do? Or remember hearing the National Anthem when a channel signed off for the night? And yet, despite these seemingly antiquated memories, they arose after seeing our fellow countrymen walk upon the moon. For all of our video games, iPhones, TiVos, and high-speed Internet, we have yet to break the bonds of earth gravity again. Did I mention that we reached the moon during one of the most brutal wars in U.S. history?

I did not hear the president speak of victory last night because, frankly, I do not know if he even understands the concept of success in any endeavor beyond stoking his own glorified image. He won a battle – the 2008 presidential campaign (by default, the GOP didn’t field a true conservative candidate) – but he has lost every war in which he participated (if you can’t win when you’re the only team on the field, then something is seriously wrong).

At this point, it might be prudent to consider what war is. Clausewitz says, “War is thus an act of force to compel our enemy to do our will”. While this might suffice, it is just a tad too broad. After all, could it not be considered that Congress is at war with the rest of us? Are they not trying to force social programs down our throat? Getting back to President Obama’s omission of victory, is it not also readily apparent that he does not believe that we are at war with radical Islamists who are very much trying to force us into doing their will? They are certainly at war with us – from their perspective.

Sun-tzu came closer to reality: “Warfare is the greatest affair of state, the basis of life and death, the Way [Tao] to survival or extinction.” War is definitely what separates us from an untimely death or extinction. It is why we are born kicking and screaming, why we are enthralled over traffic accidents (“Oooh, thank God that wasn’t us!”), and why we high-five one another when the opposing quarterback gets his face planted into the turf. We want to be on the winning team. We need to be on the winning team. Nothing else will suffice our bloodthirsty souls.

This leads us to consider the most singularly accurate definition of war, that of General William Tecumseh Sherman. War is simply hell. It is the embodiment of everything that we, as humans, seek to run away from. We want paradise, not conflict. Victory, not defeat. Success, not failure. Entitlement, not earnings. War, however, is also a debt on these things that we do seek.

If we seek paradise, then we must rid from our presence those who wish to sabotage our efforts. If we seek victory in any endeavor, then we must have taught ourselves the consequences of defeat. If we want success, we must ensure that few others beat us to the table of fortune. If we seek only entitlement, at some point someone will decide for us that we aren’t entitled to a damn thing. War thus ensures that we shall always remain a shareholder in these ambitions.

War is, frankly, the price we are willing to pay to remain who we are. It is bloody, brutal, horrendously costly, and diabolically unpredictable. So who isn’t? We thrive on doing unto others before they have a chance to do unto us. We eat the flesh of other species, murder our way into Wal-Mart on Black Friday, and watch NASCAR and “professional wrestling” just to see the carnage. When we say that we seek peace and tranquility, we are lying to everyone but us – and even then, our consciousness would never admit to the fact.

War is sacrificing the souls of others to ensure that our lives are made better. Citizens generally admit to this by honoring veterans and service people. Politicians deny it by embracing the concept of surgically clean battles. Conservatives value victory through superior firepower. Liberals value elitism through subjugating the inevitable. President Obama seems to value indecisiveness and American mediocrity.

There remains no cure for the common cold, but I would have been healed straightaway had I heard the president say:

“America is in a battle for its very survival. We will, therefore, seek to win at any cost. We will fight our enemies wherever they are found and we will not abandon this effort until every one of them is fish bait for carp. We will apologize if we inadvertently destroy a city or two, and we will make amends to all civilians injured in our effort to remain free – but only after a lasting peace is achieved. Make no mistake about it, we are at war against radical Islam and innocent Muslims will bear the brunt of our aggression.

“We are involved within a brutal war that will cost billions and take thousands of lives. We would prefer to fight calmly and with great precision. We would prefer a battle that is civil, practical, and short. We would prefer to embark upon a conflict that is considered ethical by the standards of our national psyche. However, what war is?”

Rapid escalation followed by withdrawal

Hurry up, then get out, or as President Barack Obama stated in his speech last night on Afghanistan, rapid escalation followed by withdrawal July 2011. As the New York Post observes, the word "win" was nowhere in his 4,581-word prime-time address. I don't like Obama, I think he is dangerous for this country. However, I've always said if he does something right I'll be the first to give him credit. This is not one of those times.

Obama will send an additional 30,000 troops to Afghanistan. Gen. Stanley McChrystal recommended 40,000 troops to prevent a collapse of the war effort.

We should declare that we want to win this war and then put everything we've got into doing just that. If that is not our goal, then we need to get our men and women out now. Obama is trying to have it both ways, trying to please the right while appeasing the left. It's not working.

The reviews are in and if this were a Broadway play it would be quickly closed down and the lights turned out.

Spiegel Online: "Never before has a speech by President Barack Obama felt as false as his Tuesday address announcing America's new strategy for Afghanistan." Obama used West Point and the cadets as stage props who were instructed ahead of time how to respond to the speech:

Just minutes before the president took the stage inside Eisenhower Hall, the gathered cadets were asked to respond "enthusiastically" to the speech. But it didn't help: The soldiers' reception was cool.

One didn't have to be a cadet on Tuesday to feel a bit of nausea upon hearing Obama's speech. It was the least truthful address that he has ever held. He spoke of responsibility, but almost every sentence smelled of party tactics. He demanded sacrifice, but he was unable to say what it was for exactly.

An additional 30,000 US soldiers are to march into Afghanistan -- and then they will march right back out again. America is going to war -- and from there it will continue ahead to peace. It was the speech of a Nobel War Prize laureate. [snip]

Controversial film maker Michael Moore, darling of the American left wing, was harsh in his criticism. "With just one speech ... you will turn a multitude of young people who were the backbone of your campaign into disillusioned cynics," he wrote in an open letter on his Web site. In the letter he asked whether Obama really wanted to be the new "war president."

And Internet organization MoveOn.org, which helped get Obama into the White House, suggested that it's more than five million members call the White House in protest. "The President needs to hear that we want to bring the troops home, not send more," the Web site wrote.

Meanwhile the president's advisors were busy trying to put a positive spin on the decision, arguing that the trust of the Afghan people would be strengthened through the increased troop numbers.

But it's the trust of Americans that Obama should be most worried about. --Gregor Peter Schmitz, Spiegel Online.

It's not easy being President. Campaigning, saying what potential voters want to hear -- that's easy. Our troops on the ground will pay the price.

There is no 'leftover' money!

I'm really tired of hearing congress and others talk about the leftover TARP and bailout money and what they want to use it for. In reality there is no leftover or remaining money in any of the many stimulus programs, except on paper. We are basically broke and in debt to others. Every time the federal government gives money to someone or some group, they are putting us deeper in debt. What we really need is a freeze on government spending.

One group wants the farmers: A total of $2.2 billion might be coming to farmers who are dealing with the late harvest.

Congressional Democrats want struggling workers and homeowners to receive money from the $700 billion Wall Street bailout.

Obama ... is planning to use much of the leftover Troubled Assets Relief Program funds to reduce the national debt, by putting roughly $200 billion toward paying down the $12 trillion national debt.

Back in July 2009 Neal Boortz said the remainder of funds in TARP should be given back to the taxpayers.

The government has some money left over from the $700 billion bank bailout. There is something like $259 billion in the fund plus another $70 billion that has been repaid by the banks. So now the debate remains ... what should be done with the "extra" money?
Tax cheat Tim Geithner wants to keep money in the program to provide "headroom" for "additional flexibility to Treasury in its efforts to stabilize the economy and build the foundation for long-term economic growth." Politicians, like Barney Frank, are just itching to get their hands on the money to be used for entitlement program. Slobbering Barney, for example, wants to use the dividends earned through interest owed by banks to go toward affordable housing programs .. read: welfare.
But the answer here should be really simple, folks. Give the money back to the taxpayers. This is not the government's money. It is not money that was willingly donated to Timothy Geithner's piggy bank. This is money that has been seized by the government from you, the taxpayers. How hard is this?

I agree that any monies paid back to the US from loans provided and any interest on those should go directly back to taxpayers. I believe that all these so-called stimulus packages be dismantled and that the government quit putting us in a deeper hole. Get out of our business, let private businesses be just that -- private -- to live or die on their own.

This is exactly what inspired the Tea Parties and Townhall protests. Those will continue to grow unless government finally gets the message.

It's all about the boobs

Howie at The Jawa Report says "First rule of blogging is and always will be: Tits = Hits baby.... Let's see did I get the words boobies, tits, hot, nekkid...." (Glad we would never stoop to that level here at Right Truth, ha) He is of course correct, but this article is not just about those kinds of boobs, it's about the boobs that are running this country (see below). But first Howie forgot to mention the sure-fire, hit-getting words "sex and falsies". I mention sex because until recently the MSM seems to have an orgasm every time they mention Obama or Michelle. I mention falsies because Mrs. Peperium was the only one to report on the First Lady's boobs:

Interestingly, since all of Washington's eyes were focused on organic and sustainable, no one noticed the most obvious non-organic and totally unsustainable item of evening, the First Lady's breasts. They were totally false. More than that, they weren't even sustainable. She only wore them during dinner.

There were plenty of other boobs at that dinner, just fill in the blank starting with VP Joe Biden, about whom Thomas Sowell says:

There has probably never before been as drastic a decline in the quality of vice presidents as there has been when Dick Cheney was replaced by Joe Biden. Yet the New York Times is lionizing Biden as a wise counselor to President Obama. When you support the liberal agenda, that makes you brilliant ex-officio in the media, whether or not you are vice president-- and whether or not you have even common sense.

The Boob in Chief is taking his cue from Geraldo Rivera, himself a boob who always uses our military as a backdrop for his 'reports' from the battle field (shame on him) and shame on Obama:

“Their primary mission will be to protect our enemies.”

The Boob Candidate Barack Obama lied about Afghanistan during the campaign... As Powerline puts it today:

Democratic voters supported Obama on Afghanistan (as, to take another example, gay rights) because they believed he didn't mean what he said.

The Boob President insinuated in the campaign that the world would think more highly of us with him as president. How's that working out:

If they hated us under Bush. . .

... they scorn us under Obama.

The President is “Obama the Impotent,” according to Steven Hill of the Guardian. The Economist calls Obama the “Pacific (and pussyfooting) president.” The Financial Times refers to “relations between the U.S. and Europe, which started the year of talks as allies, near breakdown.” The German magazine Der Spiegel accuses the president of being “dishonest with Europe” on the subject of climate change. Another withering piece in Der Spiegel, titled “Obama’s Nice Guy Act Gets Him Nowhere on the World Stage,” lists the instances in which Obama is being rolled. The Jerusalem Post puts it this way: “Everybody is saying no to the American president these days. And it’s not just that they’re saying no, it’s also the way they’re saying no.” “He talks too much,” a Saudi academic who had once been smitten with Barack Obama tells the Middle East scholar Fouad Ajami. ... The Pew Global Attitudes survey for 2009 doesn't show that the world likes us. In some places, they dislike us even more than they did.
In Pakistan, a place of great consequence for American power, our standing has deteriorated: The unfavorables rose from 63% in 2008 to 68% this year.

The New York Times definitely falls into the boob category:

The New York times didn’t want to publish any of the scandalous “Climategate” emails because they “were never intended for the public eye” but has no problems writing about a “black jail” at Bagram.

Mauric Clemmons Islam Connections

Maurice Clemmons who brutally shot and killed four police officers (and has since been shot and killed by a policeman at a routine stop), may have had connections to the Nation of Islam. Clemmons, the Last Crusade has learned from an Arkansas law enforcement official, became a member of the Nation of Islam while serving time in the Cummins Prison. Gateway Pundit cannot verify this. What can be confirmed is: BLACK MUSLIMS CONDUCT CELEBRATION IN HONOR OF WASHINGTON STATE COP KILLER .

The rally was held by the Black Foot Soldiers Movement, an offshoot of the Nation of Islam, to map out plans for a street penitentiary protest and street party that will be held to disrespect tributes, memorials and funerals whites are expected to have for the terrorists.

Shafford advised brothers to prepare for street penitentiary protest and party unlike any previously known and to collect pictures and prepare effigies of the four slain Lakewood police officers for desecration and destruction.

The Black Foot Soldiers proclaimed the following rules for fellow Black Muslims:

“1. Never stop for white cops. They are terrorists.
“2. Under terrorism laws, you have to defend yourself.
“3. Never reveal your identity to white cops. They are terrorists.”
As a teenager, Clemmons conducted a crime spree in Arkansas that landed him a 95-year prison sentence.

His sentence was commuted on August 1, 2000 by former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, (over the protests of prosecutors), who said that Clemmons was a “misguided fool” when he committed the crimes and “learned through the school of hard knocks to appreciate and respect the rights of others.”

Unfortunately in this instance Gov. Mike Huckabee is the "misguided fool" who let this killer out of prison.

Clemmons’ criminal history includes at least five felony convictions in Arkansas and at least eight felony charges in Washington. The record also stands out for the number of times he has been released from custody despite questions about the danger he posed. (see Clemmons history here)
