It is now hanging in my scraproom and is just the inspiration that I need to stick with my disconnect... It felt so great to look though magazines and cut out images, words, and phrases that appealed to me.

I also have some small spaces left that I want to add some more phrases that I could not find in the magazines that I looked through but other than those it is pretty much all set.

I used Gel Medium to adhere the pieces to the canvas and then brushed a light layer of Paper Mod Podge onto to seal and protect it.

Every year for the past few years I have been inspired to pick One Little Word to be my guide through out the year.  After seeing this print for sale on Etsy and rediscovering my love for knitting and reading I knew what my word for this year would be...Reconnect.  Actually I turned it into the phrase disconnect and reconnect.

Disconnect more from the computer, the iphone, the television, all the distractions that are out there.

Reconnect more with my scrapbooking, card making, reading & writing, knitting, listening to music, photography, and in general with my crafty side.

It is amazing just how much more time you have and how much more you can accomplish when you are not constantly checking Facebook, Pinterest, e-mail etc. and then rushing to get other things done.

So stay tuned for a year of more creativity and in general just getting back to the things that I love doing.

We meet twice a week during our lunch and have quite the... I think that I mentioned that I have rediscovered my love of knitting and that I have found a wonderful group of ladies who are also avid knitters.  We meet twice a week during our lunch and have quite the awesome knitting circle going.  I have gotten over my fear of circular needles and also double pointed needles and in fact knitted this awesome (if I may say so myself) giraffe for my nephew Kieran for Christmas using double pointed needles.  Meet Gerald the Giraffe.

He was quite the labour of love as I was also not only trying to get him done in time for Christmas but I also had to meet that pesky international shipping deadline.  But thanks to my awesome knitting buddy Marny who helped me with the spots and the pom poms as I was running out of time I made it and he is now on his way to France although I almost kept him for myself...kidding!

I can't wait for Kieran to open him for Christmas...well that is if it actually gets there in the time that they said that it will.  Fingers and toes crossed.
