I used the "Cherish" paper from the Beau Chateau Designer Series Paper and the "JE T'AIME" SIde Note as my starting point and built my page around these two elements. I used some Victoria Lace, Pearl Jewels, and of course....more buttons! I colored a paper daisy using a Sponge Dauber and Pink Pirouette Classic Ink.

The technqiue I wanted to point out today was using ribbon to tie in the button holes. I just snipped off an edge of a piece of Victoria Lace and brought it thorugh a few of the botton holes. Since I had used another piece of this ribbon on the buttom of the "It's a Girl!" announcement, these embellishments all tie together. I colored the flowers on this page, just like yesterday's page, using watercoloring with a Blender Pen. One of the best things about this DSP is that several pages already have a beautiful title image, so that makes a page come together so easily!

Tomorrow I'll feature Maggie, grandchild #3. By that time I will have delivered Margie's gift, so the secret will be out! Leave me a comment and tell me which frame you liked best.

Do you ever think you have to use over the top scrapbooking techniques to create your pages? Well, I'm here to dispel that notion...at least for the next few days.

You have to promise if you are looking at the posts today and tomorrow that you won't tell my daughter in law, Margie. The scrapbook frames I'll be showing you contain pictures of her kids (my adorable grandkids) and they are part of her birthday present...so mum's the word until Tuesday!

Click for full image

When Stampin' Up! released our 2011-2012 Idea Book and Catalog and I saw the Beau Chateau Designer Series Paper and Side Notes, I was in heaven! I've been waiting for just the right project and Margie's birthday provided the perfect opportunity.

For today's frame, of firstborn grandchild, Will, I chose one of the Marina Mist sheets in the DSP pack and a "Memories" card from the Side Notes. I wanted this card to be a different size so I used my Paper Snips to achieve the look I wanted. I am a button freak so of course you will see several on this page and the ones to follow. Notice how the buttons, paper, and the flowers I colored in, all match. SInce our exclusive colors come in inks, papers, ribbons, and all sorts of other coordinating embellishments, creating professional looking albums and handmade cards is so easy. For those of you who prefer digital scrapbooking, Beau Chateau is available in digital downloads, too!

Watercoloring is one of my favorite scrapbooking techniques and I used a blender pen and Marina Mist Ink to color in the flowers on the "Memories" card. Notice how I varied the amount of color I picked up on my pen to achieve a gradation in color.

Ribbon "gathering" is another popular technique. In this frame, I put down a piece of sticky strip and then chose 2 types of ribbon to put on my page. With this technique, a vintage look is easy to do.

Hope you enjoyed Beau Chateau Day One and tomorrow I'll feature Samantha Anne's frame!

I punched out my hearts, took a sponge dauber and sponged Real Red Craft Ink all over the heart (I know in the picture from yesterday it looks sort of pink, but blame that on my bad photgraphy).

Now, here's the important part. Use your Heat Tool briefly to make sure the ink is set. You can also set aside to try, but I never want to wait that long! You can keep sponging on more ink until you reach your desired shade. You can also use Classic Ink as well for this technique and it turns out just fine.

Be sure to ass this to your file of scrapbooking techniques and it works well for creatidd your handmade cards, too!

Start with a piece of card stock cut to 8" x 3". Score horizontally at 3 7/8" and 4 1/8". Fold on the score lines, matching the ends. Use a Crop-A-Dile and punch 2 holes through layers (your ribbon will go through these holes in order to make a little pocket for the treat). Using your Modern Label Punch, punch through only one layer of the card stock, going down as far as the punch will go. Decorate the front as desired and tie your ribbon through the 2 little holes. Slide your treat in the slot created by the Modern Label Punch. Now, put your kids to work and you'll have little treat holders for all the classmates done in a jiffy!

We have a large Die that creates a fabric or cardstock rickrack strip. But, what if you want a smaller one that you can use on your handmade cards or even as one of your scrapbooking techniques. Here's how to do it:

1. Punch one edge of a piece of card stock using the Scallop Edge Border punch (119882).

2. Flip the strip of card stock over and insert back into punch making sure to offset the scallops (the point of one scallop goes in between another scallop). Punch to create your rickrack strip.

You can use a stamped image on your card stock strip before punching out. This technique also works well with Designer Series Paper.

Speaking of Designer Series Paper, take a look at this gorgeous paper, Everyday Enchantment, that you can get free with any $50 order at my online store. (you can also call or email me and I'll be happy to place your order for you). Any of these patterns would make awesome rickrack!
